  • Jon Stewart ridiculing this right now... Gotta love Jon!
  • You guys are all awesome! When I come across all the discipline you guys exercise over yourselves, it really inspires me to get fitter and not stop just because I look thinner than I used to in the mirror!
  • Thanks! Its the best feeling considering I went on a vacation and didn't work out for 2 weeks and gorged on so much food!
  • I set the mfp predictor to lose 1.8lbs per week and I'm lucky if I manage 1lb in 2 weeks and that too with eating within calorie limits and working out 5 days a week. But I'm almost halfway there! 15lbs more to go! Oh and I weighed myself today and saw I've lost a pound! :drinker:
  • My one major pet peeve about mfp is that stupid topics like this one with no useful information get more attention than good topics which die out in 10 posts.
  • Check out this topic. Its the exact same query as yours with many many answers :) http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/613928-indian-food-advice-please

  • Thanks for the tip. I didn't know about Fresh and Easy. Unfortunately there isn't one in Boston yet. No Walmart in the city either (nearest one used to take about an hour and a half to get to by public transport from where I lived) and I didn't have a car to get there. Pretty much the only choice I had, was the Chinese…
  • Thanks for pointing that out to me. I somehow missed that! :)
  • All I know is that when I was at school and I didn't have money or time to get fit, I bought the worst foods out there. Everything less than $2. I even took a 2nd job at a local Dunkin' Donuts just so I could save on food costs. It was all crappy food and I got fat. If vegetables were cheaper (I love vegetables), I…
  • Banning something outright is too much "nanny state". There should be another push for "unhealthy" tax. IMO a small 780 calorie banana pudding milkshake is just as bad as a big soda, if not more. Increase the tax on sodas AND sugary drinks. To actually make that effective, maybe the price of bottled water can be reduced?…
  • The person standing next to me who has no sense of space and jumps around all over the place getting into people's feet and hitting people's wrists with her dumbbells.
  • Peanut butter! I hate it! Also don't like the Chinese food in the US. Everything tastes too sweet! Foods that aren't desserts shouldn't taste sweet!
  • I always ask for Chapatis but like you said, they never have it. Next best option is naan/roti without butter or steamed rice... Surprisingly, a lot of places offer Roomali roti (another healthier type of very very thin bread made out of white flour). You don't have to have the whole thing (just a half is usually enough)…
  • Oooooh, mango ANYTHING is worth the calories IMHO :D
  • The fact that I'm not flexible enough any more for some really complicated yoga positions I used to be able to do easily! :( I'm only 27 and I can't lie on my stomach and bring my legs up from behind to touch my head... I used to be able to bring them to my nose!
  • Wow you ARE gorgeous! Like someone else said, you're on the lower end of the healthy weight range for your height. Toning up might make you feel better about your body... You might put on a pound or two but you'll look more compact and healthy.
  • Get the chicken/lamb kebabs... They're either grilled or baked or fired in an oven. Won't be fried food or creamy sauces. If you want vegetarian food, ask them which vegetarian dishes do NOT come with gravy. That way you'll avoid all the fat again. An exception to that would anything bhindi/okra. It generally has tons of…
  • Since I'm a chips lover, It is absolutely essential for me to use a food scale. If I don't weigh chips before I eat them, I end up finishing the whole packet in no time! I bought mine at a dollar store for $4 I think!
  • HAhahahahah I did it too once!
  • 5'5" and I want to be a size 6 and non-jiggly with arms like Michelle Obama's. If I can get non-jiggly at a size 8, I wouldn't mind that either...
  • ^^^ That is so true! I have a hard time choosing seasonings and sauces in stores because of the sodium content. No seasoning ever seems to have less sodium than 20-30% of daily requirements. And that too for a 2000 cal diet. For anyone who wishes to know, the Caribbean seasoning is pretty low in sodium. About 7% per…
  • There is this Caribbean seasoning that you get at Walmart. Its called Island something. Spray the fish with cooking oil and sprinkle some of that seasoning on any kind of fish and bake for 20-25 minutes in a conventional oven or sear it on a pan. It has salt, pepper and other stuff too, so no other seasoning needed. It…
  • Sometimes it take a few weeks for the weight to start dropping. Happens with me. Also, try taking 3-4 days rest and eat well. That might help too. I noticed with myself that when I didn't work out 2 days a week and ate about 1500 cals, I lost more weight and inches. There're more symptoms of hypothyroidism than just…
  • Mangoes! I can easily eat about 10 a day, I love them so much! They are one of the highest calorie fruits out there. I can't stop stuffing my face with them because I know I can only eat them in May every year :(
  • Yep. It seems to be the general trend. It isn't just unrelated to the original post, its also full of negativity and opinion bashing.
  • This sounds like the exact same menu/diet plan for the Michael Thurmond 6 day body makeover I did, except for no dairy products and no salt. I lasted the 6 days but I felt like I was eating ALL day! I also got really really tired of fish and chicken, 2 foods I love! I lost 8 pounds in a week and kept it off for 1 month.…
  • The only way my faith plays a role is that I don't eat beef and don't eat non-vegetarian food on festival days. Culture plays a huge role though. I cannot eat food prepared in non-Indian style for more than 4 days at a time. Also, I cannot eat just vegetables or just soup or just meat. I have to have either rice or rotis…
  • As someone who has studied biochemistry, physiology and pathology, I know that all the info the op provided is correct and can be found on google easily. I have also read this information multiple times in applied science type articles/papers/studies in peer reviewed journals....
  • 1. Bought and wore a bikini for the first time ever! 2. Can finally cross my legs!! 3. I don't change clothes 15 times before I venture out of the house anymore! I can wear anything in my closet and walk out without even checking myself in the mirror!
  • Everyone in India swears by coconut oil for hair! Unfortunately I detest the smell :( I can't even eat Thai foods that are made out of coconut milk. Congratulations on having only 5 lbs to go! That is awesome! :D
