You do need rest days for running but running two or three consecutive days is not necessarily a problem. Some running experts say you need three days off a week, some just say one. The main concern with running and what all experts agree on is that you do not increase your weekly mileage abruptly or you will risk injury.…

As an avid runner I definitely agree with the advice on shoes. Good running shoes are a must! Here is a very helpful website. You can use the "shoe dog" to put in your info such as arch type, gender, etc. If you're not sure about your arch type it gives you a way to figure it out. It will take all your info and determine…

I really think its an addiction to sugar, when I gave up soda I craved sweets like never before. Besides the benefits of weight loss, I feel much more balanced through the day and my girlfriend will testify that I'm much less cranky!

I am vegan myself and have found many different studies regarding how much protein you need. I question the amount the food tracker says you need. Even then I rarely fall short of the food tracker goal. I tend to try to avoid protein powders because they are so highly processed. I eat oatmeal for breakfast, refried beans…

Runnersworld.com has great tips and schedules for training for a 10K. There are two books I highly recommend for runners 1. Bart Yasso: My Life on the Run 2. Ultramarathon Man:Confessions of an All Night Runner, Bart Yasso's book has training tips and schedules in the appendix. I've been following one and it is working…

It talks about "sugar sensitive" people. The book clearly states to not quit taking antidepressants unless consulting with…

I haven't tried truvia but I have tried stevia (what truvia is extracted from). Stevia is pretty good, its natural and is judged to be much safer than splenda, aspartame or saccharin by many experts. Here is an article I found about stevia: http://www.diet-blog.com/archives/2007/10/03/is_stevia_safe.php

What stuck out most to about your post is how food seems to equal happiness. I have been there and still am to a certain extent. I still overeat, I guess the difference now is that I'm overeating on healthier food when I do. Still not good behavior but it does keep me thinner than I would be eating McDonalds. I know ads on…

I haven't tried the Nike + but I've heard good things about it. I recently returned to running and can't think of a better, more rewarding way of staying in shape. My advice would be to go ahead and register for the 5k so you are committed:) I recently joined a training group and have really enjoyed it. It is a lot of fun…
