My question for you guys is 1. What made you realize that you wanted to change your diet and/or exercise habits? >Cholesterol "a little high" per an annual physical and was carrying too much weight. A few decades of doing the same things and expecting different results had caught up with me. 2. What made you stick with…

There are some things that are difficult to accomplish whilst simultaneously trying to lose weight and tone up while consuming alcohol along the way. But for just losing weight, not worrying about accomplishing 6 pack abs or some other fitness feat, it is absolutely possible to just lose weight and trim up while still…

Wild alaskan Sam's club or other. Please don't eat the farmed stuff. I am a twice per week (or more) salmon guy. No special condiments- pepper and lemon. Sometimes plank on the grill.

Second this. The trepidation pre event is far worse than the actual procedure. But the prep liquids do mix nicely with vodka. Had one at about 53yrs, they said come back in 10 years. Surprising the number of people <50 that are being recommended to have the procedure. I never thought about it until the Dr. suggested it at…

To answer your question directly, no. But as other posters have noted, there are technicalities such as muscle recovery and water retention and so on and so forth. First of all congratulations on your quest. You have had early success and it will continue. From my own personal experience, you could try increasing protein…

Have always wondered who and what is being cheated. If it's a bonus goal reward trophy then why not call it that. "Cheat" seems not the right approach to me. I just had a full calorie as opposed to light beer. Is that a cheat beer? In the end I suppose it's just semantics. We can't cheat anyone but ourselves in this…

First off congrats on your commitment. That is what is required. My 30 mins starts with 2 mins on the elliptical at high level to get heart rate >130bpm. Then 1 set of about 10 weight machines. Then same on the elliptical again and another 10 exercise weight set different from the first one. In and out in 30. No stopping.…

A tremendous display of COURAGE in the face of extreme adversities over a long period of time. Well done.

The exact line was "families are going to be paying $2500 less per year" Gee, what a surprise it won't work out that way.

Go out. Drink less and eat less. You can still socialize. First month or so is generally a beach. Hard to do but you will get less hungry as you adjust. I ate grapes and nuts and drank an ocean of water. My family hated the change because pizza and pasta went away for menu choices and I pretty much refused to go out in the…

It is possible and you can lose the weight and resume the shape. My wife had 3 pregnancies and one of them was twins. One was a 45 pound gain. She is now without stretch marks and extra skin and all that stuff you want to get rid of and all of that was 25 years ago (for the last one). She did the work and all of the…

You look like one powerful dude. May you continue to be able to keep the light that went on in your head to make a change continue to shine brightly and use that power to create less of you until you reach and maintain your goals. Best wishes.

A bag of Quikrete is 80 pounds. But I digress..... I think of the 50 pounds I offloaded every time I pick up 2 of the 25lb dumbells for various exercises. It is reinforcing the ongoing maintenance of same. Gained back a Chihuahua (5 lbs) but I can handle that. But that is as big a dog as I am going to add on for the rest…

Consider adding nuts (walnuts, macademia, almonds) to your snack foods. Lots of good stuff in them. And, sometimes when we think we are hungry we are dehydrated. Keep a water bottle handy if you don't already. Good luck. And your body/brain doesn't care what time you eat so don't have stress over the night snacking. I…

Congratulations. An amazing outcome. Your wife is proud of you and so is everyone who reads your story. Well done.

Lifting is for losers...... of weight and inches There is no greater way to amplify your result than maintaining a regular program of any description. It does not have to be a gym regimen. It can be a "lift heavy things from time to time" effort. But it is the number one way to increase the result. Aerobics burns carbs…

No. It is not important to stay under/over all the MFP macro values. But if you have messed with your insulin sensitivity there is only one way to break that cycle from my experience and that is to reduce carbohydrate intake. I know this is a controversial subject but it does work for a lot of people and it is sustainable.…

Suggest third party face to face intervention/opinion. Message board is basically going to agree with you, we're all in one form or another gym/health fitness folks. So while that may give you some rationale, it won't change her opinion. Seek outside counsel so you don't need legal counsel.

None of the fast food outlets in any country are a good option. If you must, you must. My suggestion is to try to find a better way to eat. Having years of experience in fast food and now not, my conclusion is that there is a better way to eat and try to find your own way to it.

Many times we think we are hungry we are thirsty. Drink water.

Lost 15 pounds out of 45-50 and no one noticed at that point. Didn't matter to me. Lost 30-40 and everyone noticed. Was at 30 bmi and now less than 25. Just pointing that out for relative comparison as I don't know your current status or goals. Point is that what you are doing is for you, not for who sees you or doesn't.…

First step of course is to avoid the crisis and make rational purchasing decisions. That being said, I was always partial in younger years to Lotus and to Austin Healy 3000. I owned a number of British sports cars but could not afford those. Now I find them to be small, uncomfortable and impractical. So where to go from…

Good tip that, the newer treatments just don't have the same flavor and long lasting features. I prefer cypress, and the sander dust goes great as a dessert topping.

Building muscle is a complex process physiologically speaking. It's simple to do, as you are doing, do the work. But the possible reason for your measurement is that part of the process involves the stressing, some call it breaking down or microtearing of muscle fiber. To make the repairs, and make the muscles larger and…

Congratulations on your cessation. Not really sure why the weight gain. But is you go with the usual calories in calories out model, it must be that you have more calories going in. 8 pounds on your body in such a short time is a bit remarkable. I don't have experience with cessation but maybe chewing gum is an option.
