I eat mine but I'm told to only have 1200 a day so... it's definitely necessary. If you are at 1600 eating back half is probably a good idea. If you decide not to continue after these few days I would atleast eat enough so that you are at 1200 every day. I'm interested to see how this goes though.

Generally, if your body is in that much pain it probably needs recoop time. Go for a walk, or hop on an elliptical if you have access to one-- something low intesnsity. Do you have your calorie goal set as a highly active lifestyle? If so ... that should include your job and then you only have to eat the calories given to you. Does that make sense?
