Ok, here's the good news. You own the van, right? It's paid for. You put it up as collateral for something else. Now let's guess that you owe the finance Co. $3,000 Ok. Imagine that the van has a bluebook value of $4,000 ( I don't know the numbers, and that's not the point, just hear me out). The insurance will have to pay…

I get up every morning, do 1/2 hour of cardio, grab a shower and then have a bowl of cereal, some 2% and fruit. Hasn't hurt me yet, and I'm doing fine on the weight.

Ya, what they said. I'm not losing much tonnage right now, but I just cut another 2 inches off of my belt. Go ahead and try on that outfit and see how it fits.

Now this can be a double edged sword - just ask my wife of 21 years. She was 240 pounds when I met her,,, Bo-Day-Shus with a capital B, looked like she was smuggling bowling balls  Very happy, sexy lady, loved her like the sunshine. Then she got down to about 150. Lithe, limber, a little willowy. It was nice, she…

Strawberries,,,

I don't get too slide-rulish about it. "Oooh, I have 12 calories left - get me a Grape!" I eat most of mine, sometimes a little over, most days somewhat under. I'm trending for 2lbs a week and doing fine.

I like to order the pork carnitas and eat the lean & skip the fat. Refried beans aren't actually fried, they're just cooked to mush, and they're not bad. Ask for sour cream & guac on the side. They'll be generous with the lettuce & tomato if you ask. And watch those chips! The salsa is free, but the chips are li'l…

I know that I can't be trusted around food,,, If I'm bumming around the house I tend to gnosh - especially if I'm working in the kitchen, and it takes a lot of discipline to avoid it that I sometimes don't have. I do much better at staying on track when I'm at work and don't have access to munchies. I pack my lunch…

I did it a little too, but in my case it's wierd. I slow roasted a pork shoulder, then separated the fat and pulled & shredded the lean. Then I juiced it up with my special vinegar/salt/brown sugar/cayenne/pepper sauce and we feasted. This stuff is pretty irresistable for me, and I probably scarfed down 1/2 a pound over…

I had a slice of my wife's wonderful-fantastic-amazing strawberry pie! Fresh strawberries Splenda Sugar-free strawberry Jell-O My own homemade pie crust w.unbleached flour Ok, so it's not pressed cardboard w/soymilk. It's delish, and no less healthy than a bowl of Kashi w/2%. Ya' gotta live,,,

Yes,,, to a point. If you go too far under your nutritional needs the body can go into "Starvation mode" and it will make you very unhealthy and make it extremely difficult to reduce as your body tries to survive by holding onto as much nourishment as possible. Generally speaking - no female should go under 1200 calories a…

Sure, lotsa guys are truly single and truly available - they're just not 6'2" tall lawyers with 32" waists and Cocker Spaniels named "Chet" - which is what most women seem to be looking for. Hehehe,,,

We're here, using the tools and doing the work and quietly getting it done. I started here in January - I just Googled "Free calorie diary" or something and here we are. I didn't expect to find such a super great free tool, and I certainly didn't expect to make the progress I've made. This thing is like magic. I just set…

Riride, honey, I've lost 45 pounds just by following the correct calorie intake on here. This is easy, and it works. You can do it too. WTG Bree, keep it up

Well, here's what I do: Beef & Broccoli (enjoy the beef & the broccoli, leave the gravy). White rice. Veggie egg roll - eat the filling & pitch the wrapper. Our local chinese place is a buffet with way excellent salad stuff, and I feast on that and nibble the rest. Agree with Singfree about the sodium.

Look at it this way - with healthy eating and appropriate exercise you could maintain your current scale weight throughout your pregnancy, and then on the newbies B'day you lose 15 pounds (Munchkin+placenta+amniotic fluid etc. etc.) all at once! Congratulations! Take care of yourselves.

Excellent, well done. Told'ja,,,

Lookie here: http://www.skinnycow.com/ Good stuff, in the ice cream case @ the grocer. It's just super whipped & lite like frozen Cool Whip, but it's delish. :drinker:

Your body thinks you are living in a Sally Struthers ad and you're starving, so it's hanging onto everything it can get hold of. Honestly enter all your data including the exercise you are doing and the site will give you a calorie "budget". That's what you need to eat. We all grew up with this ethic that suffering leads…

Yep - SK rocks. D and I have one just about every evening for a li'l snack.

The biggest thing the diary did for me was make me realize just where all the extra calories were coming from. Once I got used to it I found that I could adjust things and stay within my budget and be healthy and not be hungry. Example - Dinner before: 8 oz pork chop, Shake-N-baked, Big helping of Mac&Cheese, Some green…

Welcome aboard. Read the stickies, have fun. This is easy & it works,

Excellent, and good for you not just watching the scale. Have you taken a good detailed set of measurements? Great way to gage progress. Sometimes the weight will stay the same (which can be a heartbreaker) but you'll still see the waist shrinking and that's the boost you need to keep at it.
-
Well done, you look fantastic.

Corn flakes, 1/2 cup of 2%, banana, coffee. About 320 cals.

I "Treat meal" once a week. D and I just go out for dinner and I order whatever the heck I want for supper. Most of the time it's just a good burger or a steak or some seafood & pasta and I don't even do that much damage. I do think it helps keep my body out of the panic zone. Cardio cardio cardio,,, I'm sold. Don't sweat…

Wow - good point! I just pulled mine and checked it. 6 months ago the license was 30 pounds low - and now it's about 14 pounds over! It doesn't expire for a couple years - - - And that's a great motivator to keep the weight off. I want to walk into that DMV office in July 2011 and,,, "Mr. Mxxxx, do you still weigh 240…

Is there a food pantry handy? I'm in a gang at church that goes anywhere there's chow and gathers and distributes. Food pantries always need food - and some folks would be thrilled with a bag of fresh fruit. Heck - I'd be thrilled with a big bag o' mangoes.
