Do you only care about deadlifts? I would find a training program based around compound lifts, the most popular around here being starting strength\stronglifts 5x5 and follow the training sessions and the progression set out. With structured training sessions and adding a small amount of weight to the bar each session,…

Regards question number 3, consider this, you're currently 11stone, so about 70kg. So at 19% BF, that makes you approx 13kg fat. If over the next year, you work on making lean gains, and gain 5kg of lean mass, you'll be approx 13kg of fat at 75kg, which is 17% BF. I only put that out there, because although bulking and…

I think you just need to clear your head of worry, and hit the gym. Remember, people in gyms are (in your words) skinny because they go to gyms, they don't necessarily go to gyms because they are skinny. By that I mean the gym gets the result, so why have the idea that you have to achieve the result, before going to the…

This plus the lower body fat percentage answer is where it will be at. Although, depending on your genetics, your abdominal region may be one of the first or one of the last places to lose fat. If it's one of the last, things will probably work out how you want, if it's one of the first, you might have the abs you want,…

I'm just here for lolz, although I am curious: For all those that have IQ limits\ranges, do you whack out the test on the first date, or do you maybe get a group of potential dates together, and hire a hall and invigilator or something?

Even though I'm not a bodybuilder, I found this interesting, so thought I'd give it a go. Nothing too suprising, my upper body isn't anyhting special, but my legs are pretty developed, which is what you'd expect from a weightlifter. 229lbs 73 inches tall neck 16 arm 16.5 forearm 14 waist 34 chest 45.5 hip 45 thighs 28 calf…

No idea about the Nikes, Adidas come up pretty true to their trainer size, Do-Wins come up a size or 2 bigger than you'd expect. What part of Australia? It's a pretty big place!

Adidas shoes are excellent, but also check out Do-Wins and Nike Romaloes. The reebook, and Adidas crossfit style shoes are ok, but the sole is not as solid as the actual weightlifting shoe, so it depends if you want them as a general crossfit workout style shoe, or you want them specifically for weightlifting. I don't live…

So just to go completely against the flow, 'buttwink' is massively overrated, and over thought. A slight loss of lumbar extension (lordosis) is not really a big deal, losing all extension and going into flexion is bad. Some degree of rotation of the pelvis is natural as you squat down, if you want to keep your torso…

If it's not a frequent regular occurrence, I wouldn't over think it. That said, if I was going to combine drinking and a work out at all, I'd rather train before drinking, than the day after when I will likely be tired and hungover.

I have used myprotein in the past, but aside from the general reduction in delivery satisfaction and customer service since the takeover, there have been a couple of contamination incidents, involving salmonella in liquid egg whites, and banned substances in their BCAAs. Whilst most people wouldn't be affected by the…

This, the protein works have the best flavours and quality by miles. Not the absolute cheapest, but good prices. Definitely the one I would recommend. Bulkpowders are OK, nothing bad about them, just nothing special either. I did find that their powders never mixed as well as the protein works though, and whilst the…

Yep, she doesnt really know anything about proper form though, as she only represents her country at weightlifting. If you can't see the lack of relevence between how much you press, and how much someone else is lifting and dropping... Like I said before, could be a whole host of reasons, if its done safely and with…

Hossein Rezazadeh just told me that he gets angry if anyone drops a bar with less than 220kg on it, because that's just a power clean! What has your shoulder press got to do with anything? I one of the people who trains at my gym is a girl who weighs less than 50kg, she regularly drops snatches and C&Js that I and I guess…

I'm just here for the lolz. Not really, but I'm actually fascinated by both sides of this argument. One the one side I'm fascinated by the fact that now 90% of the world is doing the classic weightlifting lifts, yet I rarely see this in gyms. Would love it if it were true. On the other side, the ignorance of bumper plates…

Well if we're getting into specifics: Shoes - always on when I'm using a platform. Straps - mainly for heavy pulls, sometimes for RDLs and assistance stuff - why tire my grip out from pulls or assistance work and be unable to do full cleans or snatches, plus when I do pulls with more than 100% clean or snatch 1RM. Belt -…

Only if you're taking at least 50% of the weight, but ideally this should be 90%+

I would add, make it clear what you want from the spotter. For me personally, this would be telling them exactly how many reps I am going for, and what I want them to do: 1) To help de-rack the bar, until I say I have it. 2) Not touching the bar at all during the exercise, unless I ask, or it reverses direction towards me.…

I would just increase the weight, and see how you get on. Even if you don't hit 8, if you can keep progressing on the heavier weight until you hit 10 again, then you can move up again. I think most gyms dumbbells increase by either 1 or 2kg once you get past the really tiny ones, so you're just going to have to make do.…

Well at least there are now 3 of us there, maybe we can have a party! Probably not though, because I'm going to a special part of MFP-forum hell, because I use Adipowers, straps, wrist wraps, a belt, and sometimes knee sleeves. It's because I'm so weak, my body would fall apart, and my max squat would be the empty bar for…
-
I don't know why there is a lack of love for straps. They don't actually hold the weight for you, they just assist, so reduce the load. If you relaxed your grip whilst using straps, you would still dump the bar! If you're going to compete in a strength sport, then you need to get your grip strength up, but you may still…

Just 1 thing to clear up - you said you were eating around 2000. So either you were eating a bit more, or your maintenance is lower than 2400, as you have gained weight, so you must have been eating over maintenance one way or another. Calculating requirements is useful, but then you will have to adjust based on real world…

Even for a guy, to gain 20lbs of muscle in 6-8 months would be very hard, so it's likely you've gained a mixture of fat and muscle. Without getting into semantics, effectively a bulk is gaining mass, it would usually be intentional, but effectively you have been bulking. If you want to see muscle definition, you're going…

How does a bar slip during a clean? Also chalk is exactly what you want for sweaty hands, if your gym doesn't have it, get some liquid chalk. Will do the job just the same, but with no mess.

Depends on what you're trying to achieve, and why you're using such equipment. When competing, it would be foolish to give up the advantage of any piece of equipment which is permitted, in this instance, I am thinking, wrist and knee wraps and a belt. When training, it again depends on what you're doing. For example, when…
