  • You should be okay. I mean, throw away your jar and buy a new one. But you're going to be fine. The worst you will most likely suffer is the poor taste. But in terms of bacterial or fungal growth, there is enough acid/salt in the pickling juice to prevent growth of anything yucky. Now this is talking as though you are…
  • p.s. I scanned the copy of the Prevention Magazine "Sexy Summer Slim Down" Article with the info on the Interval Training and the special ab exercises. I can't find a way to post it in our group, so if you'd like the pdf, email me at dsujjavanich@gmail.com or message me at daringettinghawtin2012 here at MFP.
  • Amen. I'm finding it's a sum of all decisions, not one decision which "ruins" all the work. And boy, it's easy to slide back into old habits, isn't it??? I'm trying to set things up so it's easy to make good decisions. Keep good things to snack on at work. Plenty of ways to make the day more active. Try to add vegetables…
  • 3 pounds. I am reasonably sure at least 1 of that is water weight, as I'm fighting a cold and am a bit dehydrated. I'm happy, but it's been a rough several days - being sick should have helped me NOT to eat, but I ended up eating more. The self control was definitely gone. Plus, the lack of energy has eliminated the…
  • Doing okay. Had a bad calories day yesterday, but today has been much better. Right now, I"m struggling with an upper-respiratory/allergy-type thing - sniffles, coughing, congestion, sore throat. Worked from home today, so didn't walk around as much as I do at the office - so I need to try to motivate myself to exercise,…
  • I'm increasing my activity level and trying stay focused on calories intake. I'm making myself do at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise - even if "just" walking - every day. Every other day, I'm doing a Jillian Michaels DVD or doing interval training. Actually, I'm enjoying the interval training. Allegedly, it is…
  • Yep, I did the "after work" binge. For me, it starts with, "Oh, it was a terrible, stressful day. I had to do a lot. I had to pick up the slack for so many other people. I deserve to treat myself. Boy, wouldn't something decadent taste really awesome right now. Like ice cream. Or bacon. Or pizza. Or pizza with bacon, then…
  • Maybe cutting down first should be the initial goal.... that way you won't feel like you "failed" if you don't completely kick the habit by the end of the week? My friends who have quit said that halving the number week by week made it easier than a cold-turkey deal.
  • This is a fantastic idea - kind of a weekly lent or something. It's too late for me to give up soda (I'll do that next week), so this week, I"ll focus on water intake as well.
  • That is super cool - put that up on the welcome page next to the check-in list? :glasses:
  • I'm with @bumble. You need to break the cycle. It may have to start with stocking the fridge with ok alternatives - instead of ice cream, a low-fat pudding cup. Instead of chocolates, the skinny-cow dreamy clusters candies. Fruit, yogurt, things you think might satisfy the sweet craving without making you feel like you've…
  • I truly believe that every one of us can make the steps necessary to live healthier lives. It's not always going to be fun. (Especially if you're doing Jillian Michaels' 30 day series. Or P90X. Or Insanity workouts.) I am trying to remember that all these changes need to be made by making a series of small decisions which…
  • Hi, Y'all - I did a tiny bit of reformatting of our table - moved everyone's first names into a new column. I apologize if there are any errors.

  • You could make a Google Document, and we could add in our own info - that way you wouldn't have to be tracking for all of us :-)
  • I'll join you - but my day is almost over. Starting weight 169 lbs at 5'7". I just requested you as a friend, and here's the link on creating a group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/mike/view/new-feature-groups-167340
  • Well, I totally see how seductive Goal Weight would be. That being said, I don't think I'd make 2 million in my lifetime, and I could do so really good things for a lot of people with that money. :-D You can send the check to 123 Wish Lane, Holly Springs NC.
  • I'm interested... I was working with the group that started on 16Apr2012, but I had to move it to the 60d shred due to medical reasons. I'd like to try again, this time in the 30d.
  • Yeah, I add my voice to the others. You didn't blow your diet, you had a night out. I have a bit of a problem when I have a night out, too.... but if I know I'm going to, I work hard that morning and work hard the next day. It's all about changing your lifestyle and taking care of yourself. And that CAN mean going over…
  • My secret weapon, when I don't have time to throw something together - the Fiber One Brownies. 90 calories, and a fiber to fill you up. It *does* have sugar in it - but the calorie count is right!
  • Yeah, I've been on different medications over the past 10 years. I have a stable regimen now which works for me, but it doesn't prevent the occasional lapse. I definitely can relate to "I just don't care anymore". The learning and executing self-control is probably the hardest part of this whole lifestyle change journey. I…
  • Gatorade gum. RIP, gatorade gum!
  • I cannot take full credit for this. AllRecipes.com is a great place!!!!!! Nutrition facts swiped from that site. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/slow-cooker-carolina-bbq/Detail.aspx Eastern NC Crockpot Pulled Pork Pork Shoulder or Butt (about 5 lbs, bone-in is best for deliciousness) 1 tablespoon salt ground black pepper to…
  • If anyone wants the recipe for crock pot Eastern NC pulled pork, let me know. It's completely different (not sweet, but vinegar-based). :-)
  • YES. It keeps me honest.
  • Hi @Teri, When I used to do the 30d Shred, I'd put down 22 minutes of circuit training, no rest. And I'm in! 16-Apr-2012 is a great day for me to start. I've been meaning to start up again; I need to really kick-start my exercising.
