It is so funny that you should mention that. When I was 17 (more than 1/3 of a century ago... sigh) I dated a breathaking gal of German descent. Here parents were VERY old country and strict. For our high school graduation, I asked them whether I could take their daughter to an amusement park in a neighboring state. They…

Quick question. I need to lose 200 pounds. Does that mean I need to join twice? Should I start another MFP account for my second hundred pounds?

A number of people have asked about my chocolate consumption experience. I put my office telephone on rollover status so that I wouldn't have to take any telephone calls. I closed my office door. I turned off my computer monitor. I wanted to live totally in the experience for the five or ten minutes that this would last.…

Outstanding suggestions! Thank you!

P.S. - I did get one other package at my office today... my Fitbit ultra. Talk about irony!

I don't know about previous lives, but in this life, I went fishing once. The only thing I caught was my thumb. ;-)

If it's been a while since your last visit to the doctor, you might want to have a routine physical to make sure your lab work is in good shape. Sometimes, chemical or hormonal deficiencies or imbalances can affect energy level. Also, there are times when I am totally exhausted exercising and find that drinking lots of…

This is from a fairly well-respected nutrition website. Protein: Finding Your Optimal Level Suppose you want to lose weight. That means you should probably follow some simple guidelines like eating less sugar. But research also indicates that eating more protein can help you towards this goal. Scientists at the University…

My problem is sodium. I regularly go over by double, and am working to fix that. I have made some progress, but it is difficult while eating "on the go". As far as "too much protein," what follows is from a relatively well-respected nutrition website: Protein is hard for the kidneys to break down. Excessive protein intake…

I eat chocolate fairly often (4-5x week), account for it in my daily calories, and have lost 25 pounds in a month. You can do it too. Two weeks from now you won't remember anything you put in your mouth today. But if you hang with this, you'll have two weeks worth of self-respect, self-control, pride and weight results.

s'ok. ;-)

Yeah, I know that. ;-)

When I'm REALLY low on available calories, I'll eat chunky salsa on ribs of romaine lettuce. The lettuce gives you some crunch, and you get the flavor and the kick from the salsa.

We use menopause. It works great. I'm too scared to get near her for anything to happen.

Great suggestions! However, I COULD fit both slices into my available calories, and the cheese and the chicken on 'em did have protein and fat that made me feel full and satisfied. So that is why I went with the pizza. As for telling the server no thanks on the garlic bread, that was a no go. When I locked eyes with that…

In order to gain 5 pounds of FAT in 2 days, you would have had to have eaten 17,500 calories MORE than what your body required (3500 calories in one pound of fat). That is not a guess. It is science. 17,500 calories would not have been a few pieces of chicken and a bag of Doritos. That would have been an entire henhouse…

But see, April, that's the point of the story. I have *never* done as well as me in that situation until I joined MFP and assembled such a wonderful group of new friends over the past month. I mean, 25 pounds in a month? That's ridiculous. I know most of it is because I have soooo much to lose. And I know that from now on,…

Being a "full figured gal," I always make sure to park with the driver's side of my minivan a decent way inside the lines in parking lots. That way I don't have to worry about someone parking so close that I can't get into my own vehicle. Well today, while I was picking up magnificent $2 canteloupes at Central Market, some…

Great news. It's 8 hours later and I've been able to ditch the inflatable cushion. Tomorrow, I try a variety of grape tomato called Splendido (a santalina tomato variety). The box says they were grown in Ontario, so, a great big thank you to you folks in England or Iceland or Sweden or wherever it Ontario actually is. This…

I've seen snippets, but never a whole show. I will definitely do that this weekend. Any suggestion what I should start with?

I see what you did there! :-)

Fan-TASTIC progress!! You rock, girl!

Not to sound dumb, but what Monty Python reference? I have no idea!

"I love reading your posts." And I LOVE writing them for people like you who enjoy them, appreciate them, and hopefully, feel more motivated and energized to see this battle through because of them. And besides, I know that I will have days when I need to be motivated. Who else to listen to than myself from my Super…

WE ALL DO!!!! That's why I keep saying it on here. For y'all and also for me.

I keep chopped onions, red peppers, green peppers, etc., in the fridge at all times. Saute them in a frying pan with cooking spray till brown, sometimes chop up left over protein from dinner the night before (chicken, occasionally beef, etc.), then fill the pan with Kirkland egg whites from Costco. Cook to just before the…

Out freaking standing! Not a little bit awesome. A tremendous amount awesome. You can't even know how much you've energized me in my ongoing fight with fat. Thank you so much for sharing that victory with us! Scott in Houston, Tx.

Outstanding!!!!!! Congrats!

I am not sure if what I am about to tell you is semantics or reality, but it worked for me. Last September, I weighed 440 pounds. I had a doctor tell me that I NEEDED to lose about 250 pounds. I knew I NEEDED to lose 250 pounds. My response? I gained 38 pounds in the next 10 months. And that was with me NEEDING to lose…

Wow... what an outpouring of love and appreciation. Thank you all! It is funny that some folks have said that I should be a writer. I am actually a board certified civil appellate attorney, so I do write for a living. However, in the next life, when I don't have four sons to support through college, I would love to write…
