  • I have a pair of Ironman series yurbuds (about $25). You put them in your ears & rotate them a little & they are guaranteed to never fall out. I've had them for a couple of weeks & the only time they've come close to falling out is when I get my hand caught up in them while running, which has only happened twice. They have…
  • For my warm-up, I start out with Raise your glass by Pink. It's perfect for a 4.0 mph pace. After that: Renegade - Daughtry Boss's Daughter - Pop Evil Kick @ss - Egypt Central This is gonna hurt - Sixx AM Warrior - Disturbed Digital (did you tell) - Stone Sour Move your body - My Darkest Days Scream - Avenged Sevenfold…
  • I love my fitbit. If you're wearing it, it counts whatever steps you take or stairs you climb. It takes into account a lot of things that I normally wouldn't (like mowing the lawn last night). For me, it's more about the steps & activity level than the calories. I also like that it measures my sleep, since I have sleep…
  • Boss's Daughter - Popevil Renegade - Daughtry Warrior - Disturbed Kick @ss - Egypt Central This is Gonna Hurt - Sixx AM Move your body - My Darkest Days Cryin like a beyotch - Godsmack You're going down - Sick Puppies
  • I like to mix some kashi go lean crunch with my chobani greek yogurt. Also, turkey, fruit & veggies with a little dip. If you're looking for a sweet treat, I love the Special K dark chocolate protein shakes (190 calories, 5 g fat 10 g protein).
  • What a great name for a gym. I work out at Aspen Fitness. It's a new gym, it's very clean & plenty of cardio machines & weights. Once you get past the initiation fee, it's only $9.99 a month for the basic membership. If you want to take classes or personal training it costs extra per month.
  • Tony Stark, Steve Rogers or Thor from the Avengers, James T Kirk (from the 2009 JJ Abrams reboot) or Face from the A-Team reboot
  • I was running on the treadmill at the gym last month, and when I run, I pick a treadmill that has an unused one on each side, turn off the TV's on all 3 before I run. I run on a 2.5 incline & I run at a 6.2 mph pace for as long as I can (usually about 20-25 minutes). These 2 guys, who usually lift together get on the…
  • I'd have to set my goals considerably higher than 1/2 pound per Cubs victory to make any significant progress. Maybe the 104th times the charm! I'm not going to hold my breath on that.
  • It's all about moderation. I used to eat cookies by the dozen, now I have 3 or 4. If it's chocolate you crave, I'll drink 1% chocolate milk, or a Special K dark chocolate protein shake. If you start to really crave more, grab a bottle of water & head outside for a walk to distract it.
  • If you don't have it, check out Hell on Heels by Popevil. Some other good songs for working out are Warrior by Disturbed & Kick @ss by Egypt Central.
  • Back in 1986 we went to monsters of rock in KC. Kingdom Come, Dokken, Metallica, the Scorpions & Van Halen. We went for the Scorpions & VH (seen them 6 times in concert), but this was my first taste of Metallica. When they opened with Seek & Destroy & all these long haired people started head banging, I was hooked!
  • Definitely agree with these & Jason Statham. I'm also adding Alex O'Laughlin & Daniel Day Kim (Hawaii 5-0) & Chris Gorham (Auggie from Covert Affairs)
  • When I have days that the scale starts to creep back up, I go back & look at my nutritional & exercise logs to try & pinpoint where I slacked. Usually I can find it easily & adjust. I don't get frustrated, I get motivated. I agree with the music as a motivational tool. On days that I can't make it to the gym, I try to find…
  • It counts calories burned, steps taken, distance traveled & flights of stairs climbed. It also has a timer on it for when you run, lift weights or anything else you want to keep track of.
  • When I lift, I don't rest too long between sets, & if I lift for 40 minutes, I'll enter it in MFP as 35 minutes, or lower the calories burned as lower than MFP comes up with. When in doubt, I over-estimate calories eaten & under estimate calories burned.
  • I do 3 days of each, alternating cardio & lifting, but once my kids are out of school for the summer, I'm going to try & run before work & lift at lunch.
  • I love my fitbit. It doesn't have a HRM, but it'll track everything else, including sleep. Since I have sleep apnea, it's nice that I can see how well I sleep & what times I wake up. The fact that you can link it to your MFP account makes it easier to track your exercise.
  • What do you call a boomerang that doesn't come back? A stick What's the name for the sex change operation going from a woman to a man? An addadiktome The surgery for the other diresction? Lopitoffame
  • I also run on the treadmill & am going to try & take it on the road. I always run with an incline of 2.0 at the very least. I agree with the part about going too fast. I was running @ 6.5 mph & couldn't never run longer than 15 minutes without stopping. After reading the slow it down advice, I was able to run for 20…
  • First off, a pound of muscle weighs exactly the same as a pound of fat. The difference is the volume each takes. One pound of fat takes up about 3 times as much space as a pound of muscle, so that's how you can maintain the weight, but lose the inches. The Zumba makes you use different muscles than what you're used to,…
  • I love my fitbit. It tracks steps, calories burned, miles, floors climbed & even your sleep. You can link it to MFP & it adds calories burned to your daily log.
  • It's never too early to lift. Lifting will help in losing weight. The people who tell you that lifting will bulk you up don't have a clue about weight training. I alternate days as far as cardio M W & F, and lifting T TH & Saturday. Not sure about your class, but my rule of thumb, if you can do 3 sets of at least 12 reps…
  • I usually eat a light snack about an hour before I lift & about 1.5 hours before I run. Then I refuel afterwards.
  • I've never done any running outdoors, & I'm obviously in the minority, but I love running on the treadmill. I crank up the tunes, set the incline to 2.0-2.5 & go. I don't have to worry about the terrain, traffic, weather, dogs or anything. I can push myself with the timer on the treadmill & I don't have to worry about…
  • I guess I'm in the minority about this. Don't simply eat just to hit your goal, especially at the end of the day. You could adjust your eating & add more protein before you go to the gym or after. If you feel hungry, then eat, but if you aren't hungry, don't. There will be days when you're over your target & there will be…
  • If common sense were really that common, far more people would actually have it!
