Potassium too, if I've read the research correctly. eat bananas and coconut milk. both super high in potassium. That and plenty of water and stretching!

Wow-- this post is really encouraging. I'm a bit closer to 5'9" but I've always had it in my head that 135 was the target weight for someone my height. Jeez, now that I think about it, the celebrity industry and modeling world has really infiltrated my perception of body image because I've always just resigned to the fact…

I'm with ya word for word on this one. I consider my new way of eating a new lifestyle--fully internalized--not a diet so to speak. So I haven't had the urge to have a "cheat" day. But I do have a interesting example for you to consider: Recently, I had a day where I was more relaxed about my eating principles because of…

I use thick headbands, or this cool elastic on one end doo-rag type of thing. Lol, maybe silly, or maybe badass thug? I like to think the latter. Also, i find that if i can at least pin my bangs back so it's not sucked onto my skin when i start sweating i can deal with just tucking my sides behind my ears when i need to.

I went on a month-long cleanse that was largely vegan. I think the way to go about it is to try to eat as clean as possible. tofu is good, but lots of meat "replacements" are filled with preservatives and empty calories etc. If you're going to to vegan you're gonna have to jump on board with grains. My diet was about 50%…

I learned to love it once I discovered it's application in savory dishes. Previously, cottage cheese and peaches was my only use for it, but now I put it on toast with a little bit of salt and pepper to bring out it's cheesy qualities. Or mix it with spring onion and any other chopped veggie for a delicious dip or spread.…

my best trick is to pre-make things on a night when i have some extra time. Especially since my tastes run to the savory instead of sweet for breakfast: -Scrambled eggs or scrambled tofu (don't knock it till you try it, tastes just like eggs). But the trick is to load them up with tons of sauteed veggies--zuchinni,…

Me too. MFP exercises seem to be exaggerated. Not as much as some other sites I've been to (sparkpeople calculated that my 45 min Zumba class burned 535 cals; so i went about 100 under to be safe) but still if you're trying to eat to the right calorie count it can be confusing. I also wish MFP would expand their exercise…

I eat lunch at my desk then use my lunch hour to walk around a route that I created for myself: 3.4 miles in one hour! It's a great workout and I come back to my desk tired and sometimes sweaty (during the summer I change into a workout shirt for my walk) but it gives my brain a reboot too and I work better the rest of the…

One last suggestion: I've been doing the Whole Living "detox" challenge since January 2nd and I L.O.V.E. it. It's a three-week guide that is not so rigorous--no crazy concoctions to drink-- but really focuses on clean eating. I thought i knew what that meant until I went on this and I realized what a clean diet really…

This topic is so huge for me. I eat like a saint all day but then at night, my willpower falls and my fixation on my cravings peaks. I can't stop thinking about this craving or that craving and I usually just end up giving in so that I can get over it and actually relax enough to be able to get to bed soundly. I really do…

I'm from Southern California (so not walkable!) but a few years back I lived in London for the summer and walked EVERYWHERE. In a little under four months, without any "dieting" I had lost about 20 pounds. Granted, since I didn't work while there, I was on the go a lot: to museums, parks, shopping, sightseeing. But still,…
