Quite right. Physiologically we are herbivores. Here is an article by the Editor of the American Journal of Cardiology (I know, another pseudo scientific rag) : William C. Roberts MD has five decades of experience in the field of cardiology, written over 1300 scientific publications, a dozen cardiology textbooks, and has…

Trying to make myslef love vegetables and gradually getting there Good for you!

Cool. I have three degrees, none in biology, but I have had a lot of Bio courses.

Again, if people do not want to talk about dietary choices why are they on a board entitled "Meat eater, Vegetarian or Vegan?" If you don't want to read studies about how to prevent chronic illnesses, and not be fat or have diabetes, why are you not open to reading academic studies? The only think I can believe is that you…
-
Exactly what kind of discussion about diets doesn't involve talking about the relative merits of different diets? And who are you to call people jerks? Ever do any research on diets? Or on anything?
-
Lots of people on this board appear to just want to feel good about their bad choices. They don't actually want to learn anything. Fine. I just hope Obamacare gets crushed along with medicare and medicaid so that I don't have to end up paying for your bad choices. You can do what you want. And you can pay for the…
-
Again, if your dietary choices are not my business, then why the Hell are you on a public forum talking about them?
-
Why are you here if you don't want to talk about dietary choices?
-
If you don't like preaching, don't go to church. This is a thread about dietary choices, and if you don't want to discuss them, you're in the wrong place.
-
Something, obviously. Otherwise why are you on a thread talking about it? And Meat eating does have negative consequences for the planet. Here is an article about the Paleo Diet, but much of what it says applies to all diets that contain meat: " Paleo Diet Is Uncivilized (And Unhealthy And Untrue) John McDougall, MD |…

Great! You should be thankful. Your budgetary constraints are probably contributing to a long life. I understand that some people do not have the same ethics I do, so I never argue ethics unless someone wants to. But everyone, especially on this board should understand health. Eating meat no more than four times per month…

Oh, I read it and understood it very well. Rather than talk about the virtues of veganism vs some other ethic or dietary choice, you launched into an ad hominem attack trying to show that vegans are self-righteous. Whether vegans are self-righteous in your opinion or not is irrelevant. Lots of people are self-righteous,…

I have no clue what your lifestyle is, but if you eat meat, you may want to be aware of the health risks: http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2012/mar/12/red-meat-death-heart-cancer
-
I think I just explained what I think in very plain and easy to understand English. Are you a Christian? Do you think Christianity is a superior religion? Are you therefore self-righteous?
-
Sorry, I am vegan and I am proud of it. And if you feel that talking about being vegan is "self-righteous," then you shouldn't be on a thread entitled, "Meat eater, vegetarian or vegan."
-
Hear, hear!
-
There is a difference between intentionally killing, and accidentally killing. Even our penal code recognizes that. Veganism is an ethic, and do I think it is a superior ethic? Of course I do. If I didn't I wouldn't be one.
-
Since humans are physiologically herbivores, eating any meat as part of your diet will hurt you. You might want to check out this recent major study (and there are hundreds of others that say the same thing): http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2012/mar/12/red-meat-death-heart-cancer

Just to clear this up, VEGANISM is an ethic, that also has health benefits. No study I am aware of has ever shown a relationship between eating fruits and vegetables and getting chronic diseases. Virtually every study ever done on the subject has found a relationship between eating excess meat and chronic diseases. There…

Honestly, I don't know how you could do better than quoting Nature, Science and PNAS. The information I gave here is accurate and scientific. THESE ARE NOT OPINIONS. Nature, Science and PNAS do not publish opinions other than as editorials.

I did make the mistake of commenting on that post and others titled "Paleo or Vegan" or something similar. *************************** The title of the string was, "Considering being a vegan?" Nothing ambiguous about it, and you invited yourself right in, which by the way was fine with me, since I am not afraid of people…

Vegesaurus: why are you in this post with your misinformation? The title of the post is "Have any of you tried the Paleo Diet? Success??" You have obviously not tried it. You know nothing about it. I've read your misinformation so many times that it is clear that it is a waste of time to respond to you. Stay on your vegan…

I don't think that anyone wants to spend the time or energy on countering what you've said so here are some highlights: 1. Saturated fat is NOT proved to cause heart attacks. High fat diets with high consumption of grains and sugar can contribute however. The 3 together are a cocktail of fail for the human body. Eliminate…

I am going to regret coming here, since I have frequently argued with Paleos, and it is very much like trying to argue with people who believe the earth is 6,000 years old and God put dinosaur bones here to test our faith. Paleo's know little or nothing about anthropology, physiology, and dare I say, health. It is a fad…

That is a massive misstatement. First of all, the corn industry is the beef industry. We were just out in Iowa about a month ago. over 80% of Iowas massive corn harvest goes to feedlots. Water rights are huge out West, and they favor farmers and cattlemen. And this year, for example, there is a massive drought, so the…

I am not "targeting" you. You respond. I respond. Some people appear to be open minded, although they may not in reality be open minded, but I think you said it all when you pointed to the statistical study: you said something to the effect that even though there is a higher mortality rate for meat-eaters, you didn't care,…
