  • Some people are odd about alcohol and it can be amusing - from what you've described, you sound entirely normal to me!
  • I wanted to buy another set, because I usually use 3's otherwise I would do in my shoulders! With shoulder raises I struggle with the 3s, but then anything with biceps it's way too easy.
  • For me it was a case of having to avoid situations where everyone was drinking, at least for a while. A few glasses of wine fits into my day fairly easily, but once you've had that it's so easy to keep going, and before you know it it's six glasses and the tequila...plus being around drunk people when you're trying to be…
  • Yep, has happened to me plenty of times! Cheese, bread and cereal were the worst, so I got rid of them from the house. I would just be more csreful with what you eat over the whole day rather than denying yourself breakfast if you want it!
  • Banish Fat Boost Metabolism gets in some SERIOUS cardio for a great calorie burn, I found it good for stubborn pounds! I also combined it with No More Trouble Zones which is strength based, to try and get a good balance between the two. NMTZ isn't that hardcore but works you deceptively hard, and after a couple of weeks of…
  • Awesome idea, this is the perfect group for me! I just finished a custom Jillian rotation (shred, banish fat, no more trouble zones and six pack) and now my three new DVDs have arrived I want to devise a new one!
  • I don't think I 'sleepwalk' as such but I think I get up in the middle of the night and don't remember it, always finding glasses of water or the tv on or something else that I don't remember doing.
  • I know, and of course you are right, but I'm really not trying to be a whinge. I work 10 hour days, 7 days a week, I'm always tired and sick, I hate it, and I just wanted to know if anyone had experienced anything vaguely similar and pushed past it because I really want some of my evenings back. Lots of good ideas here,…
  • p.s Thanks to everyone for your advice!
  • Wow, is there any need for the snark? I'm not a child - please don't speak to me like one. I go to bed around 10.30pm (I usually don't get home from work until about 7.30). I am aware that it sounds strange but it is the honest truth - it doesn't really matter how much sleep I get, getting up before that time in the…
  • When I did it a couple of months ago there was no 'offical' level 2 video on youtube. I used a couple of user uploaded ones but they were getting pulled after a day or so, I ended up getting the DVD in a box set off Amazon! Maybe it's all a sneaky trick to get you hooked on the program then get you to pay.
  • It's not exactly fair to condemn everyone for it. If I set my goals to lose 0.5lbs a week my daily allowance is 1250 cals!
  • Have you taken any antibiotics or had any gut issues lately? If so probiotics are a waste of time, most people REALLY don't need them. Personally I think making yourself feel ill for something with no proven benefit isn't a good idea!
  • I suppose it depends. It's no good to be starving and binge, and it's not good to overeat because you snack at the first twinge of hunger. Personally I quite like the feeling of hunger when I'm trying to lose - it makes me feel like something is working!
  • ^^This is perfect!
  • Excellent blog post about a really irritating subject - SO many people would look at those graphs as conclusive. It is SO difficult to prove whether something 'causes' something else, and so many factors can be involved, hence the relative surprise when after YEARS of research smoking was shown to cause almost all lung…
  • Shoes make me slip on my floor when I'm jumping around! Bare feet much more steady. I just make sure to be careful with form on the ankles more than anything.
  • Acupuncture CAN work - for the reason that the placebo effect can be very powerful. Children with asthma is a bad example to use - children can and do grow out of asthma very quickly. Pets are an interesting one - but animals can also experience the placebo effect! There is WEAK (not strong as claimed somewhere here)…
  • There is unfortunately no evidence to suggest that they do anything unless you have disrupted your normal gut with antibiotics, in which case they may help in healthy recolonisation and prevent illness - don't waste money on them!
in Probiotics? Comment by totem12 June 2013
  • Two things about this (from earlier in thread)- 1. I always hear that bacteria are 'positively charged'. They are not. They are slightly negatively charged. 2. The bacteria that live in your digestive tract are meant to be there, if you disrupt them you do more harm than good. 3. The only thing that CAN disrupt them is…
  • Not being sad to look back at old photos and see how much slimmer I was!
  • I'm currently netting about 1400 calories a day, but I don't pay much attention to the amount of protein. Maybe I should start!
  • I find women's magazines can be some of the worst for spreading these myths around - nearly all of their nutritional info tends to be utter baloney, and this is the worst offender.
  • Also worth adding is that the brain will only use ketones under severe carb limitation - usually it has to use only glucose (no other sources due to permeability of blood brain barrier). This is why we burn energy sources in the order we do (glucose-complex carb-fat-muscle) because of the brain's requirement for glucose…
  • Sorry for double post but that has annoyed me as much as people who say McDonalds contains phenol - if you were to consume phenol it would burn through your oesophagus.
  • RICIN?? Aka one of the most toxic compounds known to man? I know someone who works with that in research and if they were to get a speck of it on their skin they'd be dead in a few days. How idiotic!
  • No pictures yet but also just started this after the 30 day shred! Good luck!
  • I'm just about 5'2" and the lowest I ever weighed was 100lb when I was at university. Since I left my weight crept up to about 122, which I've now got down to 114. Not that there was anything wrong with being 122, but it was depressing to not fit into any of my old clothes and I definitely suit being slimmer. I like the…
  • Combining might help - I know I have the same problem if I just eat porridge, but I might try eggs with toast and save my yoghurt and fruit for snack?
