I can only do knee pushups too. I can manage 1 normal before I collapse. I'm using the 100 pushup website to build up slowly - it does work, I've done it before but never to the end. Even getting into the 30s helped me feel the difference in my upperbody strength though. I'd recommend it anytime. www.hundredpushups.com

The issue of how many calories you need is one I find a little baffling. For my height. MFP has calculated not much over the 1200, but I've seen other sites which state you shouldn't eat less than 1400. If I do that though, MFP says it'll take me 5 weeks to lose 1/2 pound!
