  • I know exactly how you feel. :) somebody told me one time.. Don't worry about those guys - they are not worried about you they are too busy looking at themselves in the mirror!!! I found this to be so true. It will get easier. I think with stage 2a I am going to do most of the workout in the classroom. There are no classes…

  • Finished stage 2 workout 1a tonight. I have a couple questions ( I might have been doing this incorrectly on stage 1)...you would do 10 step ups on each leg and then rest 75 seconds? Five one point rows on one leg, change legs do another 5 rest 75 seconds. Repeat. Could you use a bar to do the one point rows? You do 10…

  • Thank you! I look forward to hearing about your results... Getting my stuff together now to start Stage 2 hopefully on Wednesday. I did the roman deadlifts because the regular ones hurt my back. Maybe form was not correct but I did not want to take any chances!

  • It sounds like you are looking to ride on paved trails..... We started riding with a fitness bike ( specialized Sirius sport). From there we moved into road bikes. I agree with ryanh that your first bike you buy will not be your last....Craig's list is a great way to get a decent first bike. We have got many good deals on…
  • I did roman dead lifts. Got up to 95 plds in stage 1. Could never get the hang of the regular dead lifts.

  • Totally Agree! I am ready to fall off that stairmaster after 16 minutes! People at the gym look at me funny when I up the level to 15 for 30 seconds. I'm pretty much running up those stairs and sweating buckets!

  • Great question! I just finished Stage 1 on wednesday. I was going to take measurements and weight on saturday (tomorrow). Should I wait longer?
  • I think you would have to have some weight training involved to increase muscle mass.
  • I do HIIT on the stair master. 30 sec at level 15. 90 sec at level 7. I do 8 rounds = 16 minutes.... I use an interval program on my phone to track the time. Gymboss.
  • You go girl! You have some serious upper body strength if you can do 160 lbs on the seated row.. I am on my last week of Stage 1 and just now trying to increase off of 70 lbs. The row machine at the gym only increases in 10 lb increments so it made this difficult for me.. Congratulations. Terrific job.

  • I enter a manual entry using my HRM information. I also downloaded an interval timer for my phone. I really like it. It is "Gymboss". That way I don't have to try to keep track with the timer on the machine. I am usually trying to concentrate on breathing! :) I usually do my HIIT workouts on the stairmaster or spin bike.

  • I also ride a cannondale synapse, full carbon WSD. I am very short 5'3" and fairly petite. I found that the synapse was the best fit for me. I have had it for 2 years now and very happy with it. My husband is a bike snob and he would say that you should not buy anything other than a specialized. I am surprised that he…
  • I am 5'3 and I use a 2 ft step. I have a 15 lb db in each hand. The only way I can increase weight right now is to lower the step...
  • I am 46 and currently following NROL4W. New rules of lifting for women. I am on my 4th week of the plan and losing inches.... Scared to death to get on the scale! BF % is more important to me right now. Goal is to be fit with muscle definition not just "skinny". Being over 40 just makes it soo much harder, but I don't…
  • In order to get in 1500-1700 calories a day I start my day with a protein shake that has approx. 400 calories.. Protein powder, banana, almond milk, nutella or peanut butter, old fashioned oats, coffee. Yum! Greek yogurt for morning snack. Close to 600 calories counted for before lunch.....
  • I am on stage1. 5a workout today. This post inspired me to take measurements! Still too scared to get on the scale :) Since 4/24 I have lost: Gained 1/2" in chest ? Strange. This was the only gain so can't complain. Lost 1/2" in each bicep 1 1/2" in waist 1/4" in hips 1/2" in each thigh 1/2" stomach I have increased…
  • I did the Triple By Pass ride in Colorado last year. I made it half way (60) miles over almost 2 mountain passes. I am a flat lander from Nebraska so the altitude did not help. I also did my first century ride last year. TBP 60 miles was by far more challenging!
  • Hi Stacey. I am currently 135 lbs.. Not focusing so much on my weight right now but BF%. Started lifting weights about 3 weeks ago. Love it! Feel free to add me.
  • I don't like kale but love kale chips! I spritz them with olive oil, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes. Bake until very well done. Airy and crunchy.... Undercooked does not taste the same. I salt them when they come out of the oven. Also not good reheated. Must eat right out of the oven! Enjoy.
  • The new rules of lifting for women (NROL4W) MFP has a group just for it. Check it out!
  • Nicely done! Question - I am on week 3 and nowhere near that squat or deadlift weight. What kind of squats and deadlifts are you doing? I switched over to roman deadlifts (figured they would be easier on my back). and now after reading some posts on proper squat form I have decided to try squatting all the way to the floor…

  • Keep up the good work! Congratulations...
  • Top a ground turkey or chicken burger ( trader joe's has a really good frozen chicken burger) with raw broccoli slaw mixed with trader joe's pear Gorgonzola dressing. Yum!
  • I am also eating at a 250 calorie deficit from maintenance. Curious to hear some answers to this. I believe the book says you can add a small deficit if you are trying to lose a few pounds. I am stil in Stage 1 week 3. and to be perfectly honest.. I have not stepped on the scale yet... Scared!!!!
  • Thank you everybody for posting the video links. Great information. Looks like I need to readjust weight and try to go L-O-W.
