  • My new magic running shoes are Asics :) Definitely worth a sock check as well then!
  • I like to make stuffed mushrooms, I take out the stalk if there is one, then make a filling that usually involves the stalk, wholemal breadcrumbs, tomatoes, and a small amount of cheese and some sort of meat like chorizo or ham. Blitz the mixture, add any seasoning/herbs yu desire, smoosh it onto the mushy, and whack in…
  • Seconded. You don't know what you might have done, you could have a hernia for all we know! Don't delay in getting yourself to the docs asap! And hope it feel better soon! x
  • if your bmr is 1450, by only eating 900 in a day, you're not even giving yourself enough for fuel surely? Good ways to get the cals up healthily without forcing large amounts of food down, nuts, and seeds!
  • I run in the dark at evening for this exact reason! But honestly, even if you're the fatty on a run, at least you're running, and not on the sofa stuffing yourself with junk food! Don't be afraid to step a little outside of your comfort zone, but just remember to only step a little bit over than line each day - it's like…
  • I can't tell you enough how good shoes will help out! I have recently gotten some Asics, and now when I run, as soon as my feet start feeling hot I begin to feel a miraculous breeze around my piggies as the ventilation gets to work - it was such an odd sensation but I loved it lol :)
  • I have a daily snack of cashew nuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and dried prunes, it's only a little one but comes to just over 200 calories. But because it's nice "clean" food, I find it keeps me satisfied for ages without getting the hunger that would happen if I had a bag of crisps instead. So I say try it, you…
  • Well, I have been waiting all day for a call about a job I went for, and got through to the second round of interviews (between me and one other)... sadly I've heard nothing so I'm guessing I haven't got it :'( Still, on a more positive note, my lovely mum and aunt clubbed together to get me some Asics for my running, and…
  • Mine is a pic of me at halloween last year, really just because I wanted a recent shot that showed the size of my chub - every time I see it, I think, yep, THAT'S wha I have to keep going to get away from!
  • Well done for making that choice - I hope it made you feel good! I'm still getting that "yay I just made a great choice!" feeling every time I avoid something calorific that I would previously have stuffed, or each time I eat a healthy meal :) On another note, I love that your autocorrect told us all that you are going…
  • This is interesting - do shin splints normally come in both legs then? I figured I was only getting it in one leg as my gait is probably random! I have awful hip/knee/ankle joints so quite possibly have a tendency to favour one side over the other.
  • I run in the dark, it makes me feel an awful lot less self conscious - not just cos there's fewer people but I dunno, there's just something so 'open' about running in the daylight, I just find it much harder (get me and my psychological hangups!) I actually got heckled by children last week, they told me I was old! :D I'm…
  • Just to add to everyone that's a fan of the moroccan oil product - get argan oil on ebay, much cheaper than the name branded stuff they're touting in salons, and exactly the same stuff! Loves a bargain I do!
  • washing with only conditioner (yes it does work!), not using sulphates or silicones, and using some form of oil (I like coconut) will help keep your moisture levels in tact. I would also try to avoid washing so regularly if you possibly can, or even just doing a cold water rinse on your scalp to remove sweat post-workout.…
  • I'm doing c25k and that gives you a 5 minute warmup and cooldown walk at either end of the session - I totally log it, I was moving after all!
  • just made one, used a whole banana cos I forgot to check the recipe first, but it still worked - I zapped the mix with my hand blender which made it really fluffy and airy, and had a tbsp of maple syrup on top. Quite an odd flavour, for some reason reminded me of chinese?! But I liked it, quick and simple, not a bad go-to…
  • However, not knocking the OP who has clearly had good results, feeling great and energised and using it in addition to exercise regimes certainly is reason enough to use them - I just don't get the advertising techniques used that lead people to think that these can be used INSTEAD of proper exercise and whatnot!
  • I don't buy the maths I'm afraid, my friend tried to convince me about these things - yes they might make you ache, but if they're not actually giving you a proper cardio workout they're unlikely to be burning the calories they claim. My legs ache after driving for a long time - do I assume I've burnt a ton of calories?…
  • Keeping up with it and did week 2 day 1 today! It was so hard, I had to wear a jumper and full waterproofs, and run against the wind, such is the weather where I am at the minute! I'm getting quite a bit of pain in my poor shins whilst running, and in my knees once I've stopped. I'm hoping this will improve without me…
  • maybe you should post the before and after pics anyway, because I bet you'll find that we can see way more improvement than you see right now - we are after all, our own worst critics! (no pressure of course, but I bet you'll get some positive responses - hell, a 57lb loss is GREAT, well done!)
  • I love a handful of raisins on a salad, yum! But, as others have said, if you detest them THAT much, there's other options - no need to force yourself to eat something that nauseates you!
  • galic mushrooms on toast. Win!
  • You're already here :) Seriously, the basics are the best, eat less calories, expend more energy. To take that a step further, change the types of food you eat to (more) un-processed foods, and you will find you can eat more whilst still being at a calorie defecit. This change will probably improve you general energy…
  • nope, don't see the point in paying out when this site has all the information and tools you need for free! Plus, just from watching their vid, they're talking about foods you should "never" eat, and foods that will "make you burn fat". Just the fact that they claim that food choices are way more important than calories in…
  • I didn't think I could either, but it's not a run, more of a "fast walk that is actually easier if you jog" kind of tempo. And the first 60s kills me - yet by the third or fourth 60s jog of a session, I find it's actually easier!
  • I'm in - but then I don't actually own any scales so it's gonna be pretty easy for me! (used to weigh myself at work, but have now left) I was however contemplating buying some bathroom scales, this shall put me off for a while, and therefore at the very least save me money :)
  • My OH has been pretty sweet since I decided to make it all a bit healthier, he's bought semi skimmed milk instead of full-fat, even though I didn't ask him to (thought never crossed my mind to be honest!) and that means a lot to me. But he also has crisps and all other sorts of sweet things, which I just have to have the…
  • I'm 28, pushing 29 in the summer, and would like to lose 50lbs, though I will be happy with 30 - still seems like such a long way to go now, and I've been around here for a few weeks already, feel like I should be seeing some results by now but trying not to get disheartened - after all, I didn't see the damn weight piling…
  • Am I the only person who thought of swings as in the type you get at a kids playground? And I'm betting that sitting on a swing for a while will probably give me one hell of a workout if I were to do it now - just like every other damn thing i've tried recently that I used to do regularly as a kid! :D
  • agreed, I've got lower back problems and my chiro has given me exercises for it - and when I do my wii fitness coach workouts with focus on the core it comes up with exactly the same exercises :) Not to mention it's good for posture, which in itself makes you look thinner cos you stand upright and hold the belly in!
