  • Chopped/sliced veggies and salsa is usually my go to.
  • I have been loving Athleta's tights.
  • This was from another member here at MFP, but I cannot recall who, to give proper credit: In a crockpot add whole chicken, then on top of the chicken add aluminum foil wrapped potatoes. Cover and cook all day. The chicken can be frozen, and will release some juices that you can use to make a grazy out of if you wish, or…
  • I got this from another board on MFP. In the crockpot add a whole chicken, can be frozen, top with foil wrapped potatoes, cover and let cook on low for 6-8 hours. The chicken will let off some juices that you can use on your potatoes. So simple!
  • Carson is nailing it right on the head! So many factors go into race day, only some of which do we actually have control over. Even if all factors were the same, course, terrain, training, diet, overall health, etc.... you're still likely to get different results. Bonking sucks, but it's all part of the experience if you…
  • Way to go girl!!! Sam you are awesomsauce!!!
  • Wow - so many amazing accomplishments in this thread!! It's so motivating reading about everyone's successes! Way to go!! Two weeks ago I attempted my first 50k but only managed to finish 21 miles. Last weekend I went set out to finish what I started. I ran a 50k in a non-race supported style, on my own! 31.25 slow and…
  • I wear the Brooks Adrenaline with Gortex lining. Great for trails. I've tried the yak traks and hated them. Maybe this year I'll give the screws a try for the days I don't need the lining and am dealing more with ice.
  • Suzy congrats on your loss thus far!! Great job! I log daily and am always open to more support! I'll send you a request! Have a great week!
  • I'd love to hear how you incorporate it into your diet. Do you mix it in smoothies, drink it plain?
  • I like to make hummus using a similar base recipe, then adding sundried tomato (not the kind in oil) and chopped basil.
  • Everyone's version of clean probably varies a bit. Here are some of my favs: Fish tacos using mahi mahi and homemade slaw (made with apple cider vinegar not mayo) Crockpot chicken (frozen, whole, whatever) with foil wrapped sweet or regular potatoes. Cover and let cook all day. Chicken and "zoodle" (zucchini cut into…
  • I have lots of ideas! Butternut squash soup: Serves 3-4. Ingredients 1 medium-large butternut squash or two small (fresh, organic, and local if possible) 1 box (950mL) of organic low sodium vegetable broth (and possibly more) 1 Tbsp virgin coconut oil 1 medium onion, chopped 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, diced 1 clove…
  • A quick google search using "vegan" or "paleo" will get you lots of great ideas!
  • Agree - this would be a great addition. Yes, we can all do the math, but it would be so much easier. And if they can get it in an app - they can get it on the website.
  • I use my food processor or vitamix to make mine.
  • Depending on how many days you are working out, or wanting to commit to working out also factors in. If you only want to allocate three days a week, I would do them on the same day. Generally I recommend adding the cardio after the weights. If you are willing to allocate more time, say 5 days a week to workouts, then I…
  • I currently have a fitbit flex. I think it's a good motivator to keep me moving more through the day. My full time job is a desk job so it's good to get me moving. I've had a few troubles with mine. It doesn't like to charge when I put it in the base. I've also noticed the accuracy of it decreasing as I've had it longer.…
  • Interesting article. I've recently been practicing a fat loading/low carb diet prior to my marathons. For 10 days I consume 65-70% fats, then for 3 days I carb load at 65-70%. This aligns with the taper period that runners generally go through right before their races. Tapering usually means less mileage and easier paces.…
  • What is your goal? Is your goal to lose weight, gain strength, etc?
  • Is martial arts done in a group environment? Maybe you thrive on the group aspect more so? Is there someone you can go to the gym with? Does your gym offer any kind of monthly challenges or boot camp type workouts where they are for x number of weeks and they measure your progress? These kind of things help me. I usually…
  • Great to see so many runners who are lifting!! I run 3-4 marathons, 2-3 half marathons and a sprinkling of 5-10ks each years. In addition I lift 2-3 times a week and hit up kickboxing 1-2 times a week. Feel free to add me.
  • I drink a recovery shake while I shower and then try to keep moving around the remainder of the day. I don't take a rest day the next day - I usually go to kickboxing and do a recovery run.
  • If you're measuring and tracking everything precisely, it might be time to try upping the calories. Here's a great article on reverse dieting. http://www.coachcalorie.com/reverse-dieting/
  • Great list!!! This is most of my kitchen staples as well! I would add nutritional yeast and coconut oil to this.
  • Carob nibs are much less processed than chocolate chips. There is no sugar added, making them very bitter. They are good to add to oatmeal or top of a smoothie for texture. I'm not sure I would add them to a cookie or bread recipe though. If baking, I would go with a good dark chocolate that you can use less of.
  • How about a few medjool dates? I also like Vega Preworkout Energizer.
  • Here's one of my favorites: Hearty Rice Salad 1 cup brown rice, cooked in 2 cups water (or ½ cup rice + 1 can chickpeas) 1 bunch green onions, chopped 2-4 cloves garlic, finely chopped (optional) 3-4 carrots, diced 1 red or green pepper, diced 1 cup baby tomatoes (optional) 1 large handful of fresh parsley, basil or mint,…
  • I have a fitbit flex for tracking my activity, and a garmin for my runs. The fitbit flex and I have not made good friends. I've had a ton of problems with it. I also don't like that I have to wear a separate activity tracker from my running tracker. Polar just announced yesterday a new model that does both! It's an…
  • Check out TJ Max for some good deals on workout clothes! My favorite, is Lululemon - but they are pricey. They are great quality and fit, which I love. I've also been checking out Fabletics, but haven't yet taken the plunge to order.
