  • I understand the problem but I think it would make sense to try and get an accurate idea of what your parents are serving as food. If you can't, then I'd just eat very small portions and try to fill up on veggies. Another poster said she doesn't count calories but she [follows a lot of strict rules that I could never…
  • I want to add that a lot of us are going to have a negative number on our tickers - it just depends on how much we lost on MFP prior to getting pregnant (and how much we HAD to lose) and how much we gain back. I'm hoping to still show "lbs lost" on delivery day - I am really hoping I don't gain 40 pounds over the next 22…
  • I would do conception and since you don't list what your weight was on May 17th (which would have been right around that time, maybe a little later if you're the type to test early!) then I'd go with May 25th and use the weight of 225 lbs. Either way, you've lost 28lbs, way to go :) And 17lbs in 2 mos is not that weird…
  • Last week my son asked the following - "Mom, you know those ladies that have balls and are called madams?" I responded with a very cautious "uh, what?" Turns out he was talking about how fortune tellers usually go by Madam Something or other. He was developing a theory about time travel that involved not having to do…
  • I went with 500 calories until he was a year. I would eat back most of the exercise calories and set your goal to 1/2lb/week or 1lb/week, not more than that, so that you are eating enough. Kellymom.com says you are probably using more like 750 calories a day to breastfeed, so when people give themselves 500, there is…
  • Congrats!
  • Cabot and Greek Gods are the only full fat brands I've seen, and I think I saw a generic/store brand of low fat Greek once. It's certainly hard to come by, since it's so popular with people trying to get healthier and skinnier. Diet, of course, has to mean nonfat. :(
  • I add a little honey and sometimes fruit. I like the Cabot plain Greek; it's not a fat free/low fat version and it's a lot tastier than a plain Chobani (for example). Oh I also add a little vanilla extract sometimes, too.
  • 18 weeks today and still no gain. I've upped my calories a little.
  • My oldest is an Elliott, with that spelling. I've noticed that most people want to spell it Elliot, FYI, which apparently is slightly more common.
  • It may seem obsessive to them, but I would point out the obvious: "I'm weighing the cake because I'm EATING the cake."
  • OK OK, so after my first weigh in I did find myself debating on whether to make an early appointment and skip breakfast. But then I realized how cranky I would be...
  • I am 5lbs more at the office than at home, but I expect that, for all the reasons others mentioned, plus I wait to use the bathroom in case they need a urine sample, so I've got a nice full bladder, too. I am not stressed about it. I was 240 when I delivered with them 2 yrs ago, so I am getting a lot of positive feedback…
  • I could smell stuff a little more strongly but I didn't have real symptoms until 6 or 7 weeks. And even then it was just feeling blah. When I did have a miscarriage, it was noticeable because I had all the signs- sore boobs, nausea, etc and then suddenly... no symptoms. I had felt pregnant and then I felt not pregnant. I…
  • I'd say it's a do unto others situation; I'd want the heads up.
  • If it's just today then just don't eat. If it's an every day thing, then you need to eat more throughout the day. Full fat dairy is usually where I go for more calories - yogurt as a snack, or using some cheese on my vegetables :)
  • Definitely plan ahead and stick to your schedule! Saying no to work food is so important when you are there all the time. The adjustment period is hard. It's difficult to recognize that you have time to do things when you used to have so much MORE time to do things, and it's hard not to be "too tired" at the end of a long…
  • A boy will be Sam or Luke, with middle names wayyyy up in the air. A daughter will be Maria Claudette.
  • I understand what you're asking, and I think it would make more sense to measure it after and enter it as cooked pasta, which is going to be pretty similar across brands etc and is in the database. For me, that would be close enough. Or you could measure it before and after and, as long as you go with some sort of ratio,…
  • It's hard because the best treats are hanging around at Christmas. What helped me was having the flu a week prior to Christmas and day of. Red and green popsicles for all, ho ho ho. In past years, I've taken control of my menu and that helped - for those particular days. The killer for me are things like little cheesecake…
  • Ive used vitex/chasteberry but it was to add a few more days to my cycle, not to fix a 10 month absence Maybe a regular old family practitioner would be willing to order you some bloodwork and help get the ball rollbg.
  • I use full fat cheese, always. But Cabot makes a 75% reduced and if you needed to be low fat, you could probably acquire a taste for it. I used in when I did WW because there was a lot of emphasis on low fat.
  • Some people may recognize my comment as possibly being tongue in cheek. Either that or he is a very distinguished actor.
  • Also the name of a very distinguished actor!
  • I told my husband that if we had twin boys we could name them Mario and Luigi. I guess now we'll just have to go with Dan or Joe.
  • I would probably spell it AlphaCentauri if I went with that name. You don't want to confuse people. Other than that, well, I have a kid on the way and have no clue what to name the child. It gets harder when you turn it into a group project, unfortunately.
  • While those are not french fries, I do think that seasoning and roasting cauliflower is the best way to prepare it. I like to do something like this either with curry or with the seasoning you'd put on tacos.
  • Senior year of college in Albany, NY. A student came in late to my first class and announced it, she was worried about her mom who worked in one of the buildings, and the professor was annoyed by the interruption. After that, classes were cancelled and I walked back to my apartment where my husband (just barely married to…
  • If you push too hard (as you say in your post) then Couch to 5k would be a great program for you, and there is a very active C25k group on here as well. That would be good for you to join as they will help you look at your progress realistically :) There are many, many graduates on MFP.
  • One of the nicer Joovy Caboose strollers might work... you can buy an extra infant-size seat for the back and it would be a sit and stand for when the older is a good age for that. It would not pass for a single stroller in any sense of the word... but it's what I have my eye on right now, with littles that are going to be…
