Just done my end of week 2 test and managed 23, which considering I could barely manage 6 when I started, I'm quite happy with! It's taken me more than 2 weeks though, if I find one day REALLY hard, I'll repeat that day for my next session, and if I'm too busy to fit the next day in within a couple of days, I'll repeat the…

PhD in stem cell molecular biology, but haven't used it in a couple of years! I'll always be a mad scientist though, whether I am working in the field or not :drinker:
-
I'd like to hit 210 by March 21st - I'm off to visit some people who haven't seen me for a couple of years, so they will already notice a difference, but 15 stone is a nice round number in the UK!

Hehehe, I hear ya Stewart! Was out with the dog when it started here, she hates the rain so was 'encouraging' me to go faster on the way home

Potatoes. Any kind. Don't have much of a sweet tooth but could live on spuds!

279lb about 4 years ago. 5'6". Now at 219 - the loss was pretty much solely due to getting a physical job.

I always find that calculations involving adding extra inches to the 'band size' end up a bus ride out on me, and the puppies are in danger of falling out of the bottom if I go with that - I measure 38 inches round the ribs where the band sits, and that is the band size I wear, fits beautifully. Can you get properly fitted…

Tom here today, so I am back up the 5lb I've lost this year - I know it's water and it'll be gone next week (you should see my fat belly this morning, eeeww  ). Don't worry, expect to be up and down all over the place cos you are a girl! One month isn't really long enough to see the general downward trend, but I…

10 full push ups. I can only do 8 girly ones before I'm all out. But a couple of months ago, I couldn't even do one, so yay me  To get out of the 20's in clothes will probably happen first

No, I don't tell anyone. Secrets die with me  People have learned not to bother telling me gossip if they want it spread around
-
Nah, I like what I've got, wrinkles and all. BUT I would consider cosmetic dentistry - I have a missing one right at the front, so I don't grin in pictures
-
Tom imminent here too - not weighing in again until it's all over!

Given that you need 3500 cals in or out to gain or lose a pound, it's a lot easier to eat 2000 cals a day more than you need than it is to eat 2000 cals a day less (I guess a 2000 cal deficit would put most of us into a daily allowance of negative calories :frown: - and noone needs me to tell them that aiming for such a…

Wow. There's an entry in the database for THAT??!!!  *wanders off to see how many calories....* (OK, sorry, I'll get my coat...)

The Crow. Still. I think? Top ten changes all the time

Good post. I particularly agree with our 'learned emotional response' to food - the number of 'repeat dieters' who have lost a bunch of weight through a healthy eating/calorie accounting plan (so they have learned about what is healthy, energy in/energy out etc) only to put it all back and have to start again suggests to…

I'd rather have the extra time in bed and eat my breakfast at lunchtime! Coffee only here too, unless I'm off work and don't have to get up at stupid o'clock  Means I can have more food later on while I'm actually awake too!

^^^^ This. I'm only 3lb down so far this year, so you are doing better than me! It's slow and dull right now, but it will add up before you know it - even if the scale is being slow, I bet the inches are changing:happy:
-
I've been counting my trusty UK pint glass as 2 'MFP glasses' - near enough I reckon. Still rarely manage 4 pints a day though :embarassed:
-
Hehe, love this - but I can fit my own head into one of mine!!!! :blushing:
-
Does this mean I can count beer? ;) Seriously, I tend not to count caffeine or alcohol, cos they go in with my food, but anything else goes. Interesting article re caffeine Astrid, ta for that :) - I drink a fair bit of tea, so I'm probably pretty well hydrated.
-
One pound a week is plenty for me even though I have about 80 to drop - I'm an old(ish) git and have been a fat old git for a good ten years, so I want to shrink slowly to give my skin a fair chance at keeping up with me - it's less elastic than it was 20 years ago! Also I don't have to restrict meals much at this rate,…
-
This is what worries me too, so I'm aiming to lose slowly (3 or 4 lb a month) so my poor stretched skin has time to catch up with me! You are a lot younger than me (41) so your skin should still be nice and elastic. Agree with the toning exercises, and think that hydrated skin copes with size changes better, so keep…

Hehehe, this is the reason I only do a 'proper' weigh-in once a month. The numbers are all over the place otherwise and it's depressing :)

Hi Jaki - I love your Wei's!!! Know what you mean about HAVING to walk (GSP here, lol) :D
