New exercise routines, or even stepped-up versions of the old workouts can cause your muscles to retain water. And not logging your food can definitely lead to over-consumption. Let's not forget, too, that being a woman means hormonal cycles can also affect the scale. At the end of the day, eating right & exercising WILL…

Thanks for posting. Glad to hear you'll be getting back to a plant-strong life! I thought I might die without cheese, but I find I am really not missing anything. I can't help you with an alternative to your beloved hot chocolate, but here is the Fruit "Ice Cream" recipe: This recipe is SO EASY, and it's really delicious,…

Thanks! That's my beloved "Elvis". He loves riding in the car. Nothing beats a HUGE Pit Bull smile!

Thanks! There are lots of great resources, indeed! I approached this pretty confidently because I found so much great information with relatively little effort!

I suspect you are right. I was on vacation last week and didn't count calories. I just ate plant-based, whole foods when I was hungry. When I got home I was down 3.6 lbs. When I began plant-based living 3 weeks ago, I had about 35 lbs to lose, so I was worried initially that I might eat too much if I didn't track calories.…

And I always add cumin, no matter what other stuff I throw in.

No tahini. Just garbanzos and a little bit of water in the food processor until the desired consistency is achieved. Then I add one or more flavors: jalepeno peppers, roasted red peppers, garlic, horseradish, whatever else sounds good. It's so easy & delicious.

I absolutely agree. I am eating 1200 calories a day, same as always, but I am shrinking faster than ever. In fact, If it keeps up, I'll probably boost my calories and slow down the loss. I'm waiting to see if it will level out in the near future..

Thanks! Glad to hear you're keeping it off!

Thanks for weighing in! Congrats to you as well. In a world where most everyone I know thinks that I am being quite radical, it's nice to encounter other health-conscious people. Feel free to add me if you like. Best wishes to you on your journey to optimal health!

So far I've gained 2 pals who are living whole foods plant-based lives, and no naysayers. If people want to "troll", let them. Clearly their lives are so empty and broken that they NEED to pass their time being critical of others. How sad for them. I will hold onto hope that I will GAIN from posting this thread. All I want…

Thank you, Patrick! (Great Celtic name, by the way :-) ) I haven't really run into too many judgemental people on MFP. It seems that not everyone has been so lucky. Feel free to add me. I will encourage you on your way to your goal, I won't judge!!!

Thanks! I sent you a request.

I meant to say I know about the groups. Thanks!

Thanks, Johnny. I know about the forums, but really wanted to have some regular "pals" in my feed who are doing the same.

Yes, this is for real. I do eat what I want. I was genuinely looking for advice from others who have encountered this same reaction from their partner and what they did to stick to their guns & keep the peace in their relationship. So, YOU come on now. Did you really need to waste your time and mine posting a snarky,…

Definitely stay away from artifical sweeteners. I use pure stevia extract, and very little of it. Stevia is a natural food, not an artifical sweetener. But it's a good idea to try to wean yourself from adding any extra sweetness to foods, as it can trigger a desire (or train your pallet to anticipate) for sweets that you…

Thanks for sharing! I love the detail of your visualization - the whole process, head to toe. I think it makes it more real.

That's a great thread! Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately I don't think I've ever had a single picture of myself that I could stand to look at, even at a healthy weight as a kid. So I'm hoping the affirmations help with that.

I hope it works for you. It's Day 1 for me, too. Keep us posted!
