Yea! I am IN this challenge! I need to drink more water and workout, again! Nothing like food poisoning to keep your calorie intake low :ohwell: but . . .I am now well enough to eat right and feel good again! Let's do this!

I just started training with Tae Bo Boot Camp Elite, it is 40 minutes of intense cardio burn and weight resistance training. I decided to track it as 40 minutes of step aerobics as well as 20 minutes of boxing, because boy it sure does feel like it! Once someone recommended tracking it as kickboxing but MFP doesn't make…

Welcome, Gloria! I joined a year ago and got myself back in shape! Came back this week just for the encouragement and positive coaching that is all around here! MFP people are really great!

I thought twice about posting because today was not a normal day. Today was my first day recovered from a terrible bout of food poisoning, so much less food than my usual day's, but, well, here goes . . . B: espresso with milk (not cream, this time), 2 of 'em plain whole milk yogurt, about 400 g L: about 5 or 6 almonds a…

Hi, Everyone! I will take the exercise challenge. Twelve pounds on a 4' 11" woman is something to work on. I am a little squirt. But a little squirt after the Tae Bo Boot Camp Elite is a bada**. Enjoy Living!

Nice post! Riding your coattails here with a little tidbit I picked up somewhere on the internet . . . . THE FIVE DEADLY WHITES: salt white sugar white flour white rice refined oils These match up nicely with the Dr. Oz list, too! 'cept rice. I guess it is there because white rice is refined, too.

Hi! I was explained this problem with the example of a triangle: imagine a triangle made up of nutrition, exercise and detox. It may be you just need a week in a detox cleanse! Essentially, it allows your systems to rest so that your body can cleanse itself, and rejuvenate all the systems that work so hard for you each…

One more thing! I gnosh all day long if I don't eat a very large and satisfying breakfast. Dehydration makes me lethargic and leaves me with an empty feeling inside. Keep those two things in mind, and try to rule them out of this winter blue state.

Tomorrow is a Saturday, and hopefully you will not wake up for work. If it is a day off, recall whatever it is you really enjoy in the morning and plan for it. Plan your morning so that you start off your day with a purpose. From then on, you can just wing it. Jay's idea is great, especially because it gets the endorphins…

I am trying to avoid deli meats, or at least meat and pork, because of all the sodium nitrates. Here are some of my favorite sa'miches: marinated eggplant, cream cheese, and sun-dried tomatoes (marinate with anything but balsamic vinegar rocks!) avocado, plum tomato, red onion artichoke hearts, mushrooms and cheese,…

Mmmmmm. yogurt. I like Kefir plain, which is a drinkable yogurt. Just in case, I would say always avoid any low or no fat foods, especially in dairy, because it just increases simple sugar intake.

Aim for green leafy vegetables, and compliment them with other vegetables of all colors, inc. cauliflower, onion, and other white ones. That has been for me good enough to compensate for the fruit omitted, just IMO. Fruit is an ideal snack food and breakfast is just not the same without it, I know! So, to yet justify why I…

Hello, Everyone! I have ventured to this site every now and then. I wanted to introduce myself with the hope that I can make some ifriends to help me stick to my new way of life! I am here hoping to learn more about nutrition concepts like veganism, home sprouting, and raw or living foods. Two days ago I suffered a…

Please, a question for the gluten-free world: If one is just avoiding anything made with wheat, will that compromise my health? Is there an essential nutrient or vitamin that I need to seek out from another food source?

that's another reason I like okara, which is essentially the 'whey' derived from soybeans when making soymilk or, two steps further, tofu. Since I prepare it in my kitchen, controlling the freshness and wholeness of it, I definitely say it is the whey to go.

I am very much like you: raw enthusiast and lactose intolerant! And, where I live one can not find any vegetarian proteins that end with the letters TM. So, I snack on almonds, and always eat beans at lunch. Avocado with cinnamon at breakfast rocks! I have read that soy protein (okara) has the highest levels of plant…
