To add: please see a medical professional. A doctor. Not a personal trainer, not a dietician, not a holistic life coach... hmmm, not even these lovely strangers on the internet. You only get one body, it's not worth taking a risk with it. Wishing you good health and let us know what the doctor says!

OP, are you trolling? You keep asking the same questions and disregarding the answers. 1- you cannot gain muscle on the kind of deficit you are talking about here. I mean you can but it's extremely difficult/ unlikely/ contentious. 2- you cannot spot reduce, this includes your belly fat 3- no supplement can help you.…

My mother seriously thinks that going to the gym will give me pneumonia. This is because somebody she knows at work went to the gym and happened to have pneumonia. My mother also routinely calls me fat, tells me that my weight is creeping up. But if I take a smaller portion or say no to dessert, she's the first one to warn…

I sit right behind the treats table at work. Within 3 months of joining I've gained 6 pounds. This is WITH a 4 mile walk to work and back on my side. What helps me more now is at the beginning of the day I pick one thing that I'm going to have in the morning (for example a chocolate coated oat cookie) provided that it's…

What sort of body fat are you currently holding? It's not just the weight in isolation that affects your period, it's a little more complicated than that- composition comes into it too. http://www.acsm.org/docs/current-comments/menstrualcycledysfunction.pdf "There is no single cause for the onset of athletic amenorrhea.…

So short answer, no. It's not bad that you're not hungry. HOWEVER Just because you're not feeling hungry doesn't mean you need to eat. The opposite is also true- Just because you're hungry doesn't mean you need to eat. So a 500cal day isn't bad in itself. However your habit of staying under 1000 is going to do long term…

I do! I walk a minimum of 4.5 miles each day just to work and back, and generally I'll go for a walk at lunch for around an hour. If I'm meeting somebody for a drink or dinner after work, I try to walk there if possible. This adds up- some days I could be walking eight or more miles. If it's significant, absolutely log it.…

Ha your story sounds like mine. I was so sure I was eating well. Porridge for breakfast, something healthy and portion controlled for lunch and a sensible dinner. Didn't stop to think that while at work I'll snack like a fiend. If there are cookies on the table I'll grab a few. (Work is full of feeders!) Then maybe a…

Before they all get here... I'm going to advise you to use the search functionality on this forum to search for other users who have asked about raspberry ketones and draw your own conclusions from the responses on those. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Love this advice! So true- for what it's worth I had a horrible horrible chocolate protein bar and told myself if I was hungry between meals I had to eat the bar first. The number of cookies/ chips/ cakes I didn't have just to avoid having that disgusting thing was insane!

Sorry but I'm going to be that guy. For your height, you have a perfectly acceptable weight. That said, that doesn't mean that you HAVE to stick at that weight, it's your body after all. However you say that you always want to be a bit smaller, that's a little worrying to be completely frank. I work with EDs and this is…

You'll hate me for this but cold turkey. Once (a long while ago) I pledged that I would not eat chocolate for a year. So every time it was offered I couldn't try and taper off, it was a hard NO. I do not eat chocolate any more. (note, not that I can't. I don't) I have a serious sweet tooth also and I find the hardest time…

Mayonnaise. God I could eat it with everything. But when you look at it properly and realise you basically doubled your calories for the meal with just the condiments, you have to make some difficult decisions! Bad cheese. You know bad cheese is just as calorie heavy as good cheese? I'm making the call that I'll skip out…

microwave oatmeal? It's not for everyone but I love how it keeps me full for a long time. Or until I see a cookie...

I actually rather welcomed this news- all it takes is some research/ imagination. And for me, while I'm trying to lose a few pounds this is an encouragement of sorts. A lot of the meals I'm eating look similar to the way they always did. Just instead of fries/ chips there'll be carrots or sweetcorn, maybe I'll try sweet…

I think this is great and you are far more talented (and disciplined) than I am! I guess for most of us it boils down to examining the reasons why we are overweight in the first place. Personally I felt like I was doing nothing different. I was once that special snowflake we all love to hate, complaining about how the…

Think of it this way: you have a 32 day head start on getting your name on there next month. And this time you'll be ready if some underemployed gym employee decides to call it early because all of those days in the month count, not just the ones close to the deadline. I know you're getting a bit of a hard time here…

Which is understandable but I have to say this is quite an arbitrary goal. For the idea of being at a certain weight on a certain day you risk a relapse, you risk pulling yourself into destructive habits and patterns of behaviour. Please consider whether the headline of "I was at a healthy weight as I turned 21" is really…

I have 0 advice, I am a snack MACHINE. But in on the thread to see if I can get some wisdom too! I know I snack I just try to control what I snack on at work. So it's like celery/ bell pepper city at my desk. But yes, I absolutely graze all day and it's a bad habit that I want to break.

Without wanting to aggravate any issues, do you know why it seems to bother your mother so much? Maybe you need to address what's at the root of her concern. My mum routinely tells me I look fat (your face is puffy, your arms are thick etc) and then proceeds to try and overfeed me. It's her way of demonstrating she's still…

I think sometimes people's ideas of what it normal or healthy can be skewed if they're surrounded with bigger people. I am above the healthy weight range but because at work people are on the larger side they can't understand the "smallest person in the office" trying to lose weight. And sure, when you say it like that it…

I realised last night that my issue is I have ridiculously specific cravings. And you know how some people have expensive taste? Well I have fat unhealthy tastes. So if we are at a burger place because I fancy a burger you can bet I'll zone in on the most calorific one. Or for desserts, the most calorie laden thing will…

My mother often preps gas-inducing foods with the same few ingredients so I wonder if they're beneficial. So any dhal, lentils, beans. beany soups, chickpeas etc always seem to come with: Plenty of ginger Fennel or fennel seed Ajwain seed (aka Bishop's weed or carom seed) Mint leaves I've had a sensitive stomach since I…

Backing up anybody who has said Fluids, Fibre and Fat! I can get really sluggish and I generally think I'm doing ok... I have to actually scrutinize and log and most of the time I realise it's that I'm not getting enough of those three things somewhere. Prunes in black tea. Weirdest suggestion in the world. From a lady who…

The main thing is if it works for you. I've been through phases of no breakfast where I gained, and eating breakfast and I still gained. It's just about organizing things to fit your life/ habits/ body. I know there are some diehards out there who are counting down the minutes for each calorie controlled mini-meal, one of…

I'll give myself a headache thinking about how many times I wasn't even hungry I just "finished it off" or "cleaned the plate" or "didn't want to waste the food" This goes for the extra-large portion of cereal you give yourself just because it's silly to leave so little in the box, the last cookie in the pack, the last…

Good to hear! In the last two weeks I have managed to gain incomprehensibly... like I know I've eaten below maintenance, I walk 4 miles a day to work and back. Somehow I have gained 9lb... 9! So some may be sore muscles in leg hanging on to water as I went for a long walk at weekend, about 9 miles. Some will be the fact…

Hey, just jumped on board to say I know exactly how you feel. I'm a similar height- well 5 feet only just... to the point where if you measure me in the evening it's definitely 4'11! It is a NIGHTMARE for me, honestly. I tried upping my walking a few weeks ago and all that happened is I got sore legs and gained back about…

Ahh a piece of toast (no butter) with a soft boiled egg smushed all over the top, add a pinch of salt and pepper and I'm in heaven! Kinda wish it was breakfast right now...

Just to add- 100% agree with tracking your intake. Remember it's easier to not eat the slice of cake than it is to burn off the 2-300 kcals once you have done it. I basically underestimated everything, portion size, amounts, cals, snacks everything. I was sitting wondering how I can walk about 5 miles a day, bring my own…
