Agreed. Caffeine is an appetite suppressant, and not harmful in moderate quantities at all. Unless it keeps you awake at night, there is no reason to quit caffeine.

It's almost certain to be well below her BMR even without calculating it. I'd find a new primary care doc who understood how little MDs learn about nutrition and referred her to a nutritionist, who would put her on reasonable calories. 1000, or even 1200 is likely to be counter productive. It sure won't bring back a…

I'm confused. I certainly believe in teaching kids comparative religion, and to question and seek knowledge, bu WHY wouldn't you tell them you are an atheist as soon as they became conscious that some people believe in a god? If you want them to think for themselves, is religion really the best place to lear that? Because…

I think I'd let my wife (if I had one) christen our child (if we had one) but I'd do so because I know it doesn't really do anything. I mean, why not? I don't think it gives the kid any choices he wouldn't have had if he weren't christened, but OTOH, it's not really any kind of a handicap either, unless it ends up leading…

So again, how can you be sure you have the calorie counts within 100 calories of right, as you said? You now say you don't even know exactly what was in there. What science are you studying? You have no idea what the calorie count for those foods are. Are you sure you always have portions right at the cafeteria? Do you…

BMI "normal" is a range that applies for frames that are tiny to large. It applies to you. If your BMI is below 18.5 (and at 120, you were at 18.2), you're underweight, no matter how "tiny" your frame. At 126, your BMI is really normal for a "tiny framed" 5'6" woman at 19.2. You're still at the low side of BMI for your…

If these foods of your grandma's are so foreign you can't enter the ingredients to build a recipe that has accurate calories per serving, how do you know your "quick add" calories are right? As a scientist, you understand the importance of controlling all the variables. Is it really impossible for you to add the foods you…

But she should be able to lose weight on ANY food. That's not be healthy, that's lose weight. She has to be eating more calories than she's burning to gain. That points to measuring problems, like not weighing foods and exercise calories being high, for whatever reason.
-
I'll second that. I discovered that most of my portions that I eyed up were about twice as large as I thought. I've also found that MFP's numbers for calories burned are much higher than what I get with HRM and/or FitBit. So if you're not already doing so, try weighing your portions and wearing a monitor of some kind--HRM,…

[/quote] Did you happen to notice the 490 quotes above mine????? Because they are there because I DID hit the quote button!!!!!!!!!!! She got confused because she asked me something and assumed that everything I posted after she asked was aimed at her!!!!! Which, BTW, is why I ALWAYS leave all the quotes on a post intact,…

And it was ME who said that. But, while doing it requires being in the situation, knowing you would do it, DOESN'T.
-
Wow. Cynical. But I suppose no one here's actually had the dry cleaner's forget to charge them. I know I haven't. Probably you're right, and we wouldn't do what many of us have done in similar situations, because when it's a dry cleaner, that's different. I'm still gonna live as if most people are honest, though, if that's…

The court didn't order, they found. They found that it was impossible for her to have killed her nephew because she wasn't strong enough to lift her arm. The "headline" was poorly written. Why would that not make sense?

Why do people look to the government to fix every problem?
-
I was going to say I preferred that one too. In fact, my heart was racing a little and I'm a little flushed. Whoa, hot! Tara Lynn has always turned me on but I might push her out of bed for Christina Mendez!

I've had it both ways. I lost my wallet some time back--left it at the manicure place. Someone found it and turned it in. My number wasn't in it, but they remembered me and had it for me when I got back. Nothing missing--not even cash. Twenty five years ago I left my purse on the sink while I was in a stall in a public…

LOL LOVE IT!!

Is there some reason that you need to bring your religion into it? I'd do what is right because it's right, and because morality is about doing what is right even when there is no penalty for doing wrong. Since you say you'd pay because you'd feel guilty, why would your christianity matter to the question?
-
I'd call and pay. It's not like they'd owe me free dry cleaning because they made a mistake. I got something I asked for, I should pay for it. I can't imagine any way I could justify not paying fr something I both requested and received. I don't feel obligated to pay for things I didn't ask for, like stuff sent in the mail…

Don't confuse needing to eat 1200 calories with needing to eat three or more meals. I eat one meal, and I snack, often. Have some nuts in premeasured portions in your purse. Keep some carrot sticks in the fridge at work. Have an apple, a banana, or some berries. Nuts are a really good source of protein and healthy fats,…

And if it's just about a number on a scale, your entirely right. If its about good nutrition and building muscle, not so much. People always want to talk about our caveman ancestors. You do know they died before they were thirty-five don't you? They weren't healthier than we are, no matter how obese we might be. And much…
-
I suppose it depends on your goals. If you want to be healthy, or if you want to gain muscle and lose fat, yes it does matter. If you consistently eat less that your BMR, whatever that number is, you won't build healthy muscle. If its just about a number on a scale, probably not.
-
I DID post those comments! Not everything is about you.
-
This makes less sense than anything you've said so far. Your point is that you know I'm not talking to you but you're going to get your panties in a wad anyway? You're defensive because I replied to someone besides you? In what way is "These are not even referring to your post" exactly your point?
-
And AGAIN, as I said, I can't find the quote and I apologize for thinking you said in that post that only water was hydrating.
-
What bad stuff? Are we back at the beginning? There is a sub for water. It's any beverage with the exception of hard liquor. I'm really getting confused by the fact that in 19 pages of proof that all beverages are equally hydrating we still have people insisting that only water is hydration. Why is this little bit of…

And like I said, you had no reason to think that. Let a mod settle it. You know what they say happens when you assume...

It's not uncommon for things to be posted after someone asks for something, and it doesn't mean it's in reply to it. I apologized for the only thing I did wrong. If you want something more about this issue, report me to a mod. I didn't do anything wrong. No one else is unclear as to who those other posts were directed at.
-
You were supposed to believe that I was replying to the posts I replied to. To reply to you I will hit "Reply" or "Quote" on YOUR post. That's how it's done. Am I not ever to post to anyone else again unless/until I reply to you? No one else misunderstood this. I have done nothing wrong here. I've apologized for anything I…
