Except, of course the 40 to 60 ounces of water in the 2 to 3 Monster drinks...

And this is why you link to the actual study (MSN is not a science journal, nor are they considered experts in medical science), and not a popular press commentary on it. Even the study's authors don't claim there is a causal relationship here. They say, "Although these observational data cannot establish causality,…

Lasik isn't an option for me, but there other corrective procedures for the type of vision problems I have. I have been extremely far-sighed since birth and have worn glasses since this was discovered when I was 17 months old. (I am 53 and have been wearing glasses for 52 years and contacts on and off for 41 years. I had…

Caffeine's diuretic effect is so mild as to be nearly non-existent. The amount of water in caffeinated beverages more than counters the effect of caffeine. Caffeinated beverages are not dehydrating, they are hydrating, just like any water-based liquid is. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/caffeinated-drinks/AN01661

Well, they're chock-full of caffeine, so they should act as an appetite suppressant. They're diet soda. whatever you think about diet soda is what you should think about Monster's diet energy drinks--ANYBODY's diet energy drinks. But they're all just highly caffeinated diet sodas. Personally, I think the Bawls brand tastes…

This has always confused me, because I can't taste anything from plastic bottles and glasses, and prefer all my drinkingware, bottles or cups, to be plastic. Glass feels funny on my mouth and lips and any metal, aluminum, stainless steel, ANY metal, leaves an absolutely horrible taste.

The Hero would have been amazing for it's time, had they used glass for the display. Once I had glass on my first iPhone, I was spoiled, and when I moved to Android I was amazed at how many otherwise amazing phones of the time had plastic displays. My first Android was the HTC EVO 4G, mostly because of it's glass display,…

I run both OSX and Linux. (I even have a netbook running, *GASP*, Win7!) You'd be amazed at the similarities between most Linux distros and OSX's BSD... Is the RAZR Maxx battery life really as good as they claim? I bought my RAZR before the Maxx came out, and it's the first phone I haven't been able to carry spare…

Had one of those. It was stolen. Right from the outside pocket of my purse as I checked out my groceries! AMAZING. Has Google pushed Jelly Bean to it yet? That's really my only regret to my RAZR, even with Google buying Moto, I'm still one release behind on Android--Ice Cream Sandwich was pushed to my RAZR last week...…

I carry a Motorola Droid RAZR riding Verizon (or serious) and a Samsung Sidekick 4G riding T-Mo (for fun). Also because I have a true (no throttling when I exceed any amount of data--ever) unlimited data plan from T-Mo, I hotspot from the Sidekick when I can. In some places, though, Verizon's signal is just better, and I…

I'm not bothered what xians believe, so long as they're not spouting those beliefs as if they should have the force of law and be enforced by the government. And I couldn't care less if you don't care if you're depressed. But atheism doesn't cause depression. The vast majority of atheists are happy, well adjusted and…
-
I didn't deny it. I said some atheists have meaningless or purposeless lives. What I am saying is that it's not caused by your lack of belief, any more than a xian's meaninglessness or purposelessness is because of xianity. What would you like me to do about it? I can't find meaning in your life. Most atheists do not feel…

BUT WHAT IS SUGAR SOAPING! ARGH!

Um...Okay. If that's what turns you both on... exercise all around! Bet these "special clothes" make cleaning LOTS of fun!
-
:smokin: It does indeed! In fact, when she wears it, I'd say it counts as exercise for BOTH of you!
-
LOL Here I was giving him bonus points for noticing all the hard work she does! You're right. I, too, hope he helps when he sees this. :blushing: :flowerforyou:

And you DO need to mind your own business! There are good reasons to set for sedentary--I gave you mine, not that it's your business--and log everything, whether you're a factory worker or anything else. And good reasons for others to choose a more active setting, regardless of profession. As I said, it's that the numbers…
-
<sarcasm>But for Zumba you put on special clothes and go to a class/watch a dvd/use a Wii so it's REAL exercise. You can wear any old thing to clean and you have to do it anyway, so that's obviously NOT exercise.</sarcasm>
-
You do burn calories doing "necessary life acts." And they are not already counted for people who list sedentary as their activity level. If you live on a farm and do farm chores, perhaps sedentary isn't the right level for you, but if you use sedentary, you should be logging all those chores so you're feeding your body…
-
I am the person who is telling you to MYOB. That's who I am. What other people log as exercise is NOT your business, so you need to mind your business, not theirs.
-
If you think atheism is about "not disagreeing," you clearly haven't seen enough of Hitch. Or Dawkins, or Harris, for that matter. As atheists, we have NOTHING in common except a lack of belief in a god or gods. Healthy disagreement is just that--healthy. There is no logical connection between a lack of a belief in the…

No, she thinks he hasn't had the responsibility of keeping house for an entire family. If she can't count it as exercise when she does several other people's laundry and cleaning, why shouldn't the people whose clothes she's washing and who she's cleaning up after have to subtract some calories for NOT doing that "normal…
-
Don't like it so much when you're in the position of defending YOUR exercise, do you? I'd say, "Point made."
-
Or maybe you should MYOB. Some of us have radically different days in terms of activity level. If we set our activity level for more active than sedentary, on the sedentary days we'd have have to log "negative exercise." I have Central Pain Syndrome. On a bad day, it's an accomplishment for me to get from the bed to the…

Tastes good and is good for you. What's not to like?

This^^^ One day of eating what you want isn't going to affect your progress enough to worry about. All things in moderation.
-
Those "ancestors" also didn't go to the gym or "work out." Their exercise WAS doing that 20 miles and all those NEAT (Non-Exercise Activity Themogenesis) activities! IOW, it DID "count as exercise" for them. Now you're saying it shouldn't be exercise for us? BTW, those same ancestors had MUCH shorter lifespans than even…
-
Um, why? I REALLY don't get this. You burned the calories but would not eat them because it was CPR and hauling someone up/down stairs? Or are you saying that you don't burn calories because they were traded for the person's life? I DO NOT get this.
-
But they specify driving separate from "exercise," which they do include housework in. The driving admonition is because your reaction times and judgement might be compromised, not because they are worried about exercise and healing. Don't be stupid.

Who are you to tell me, or anyone else, what they "should" do? And how dare you call other people "lazy?" Newsflash! You don't get to decide what people "should" do. You're not specially gifted. You only get to decide what you "should" do.
