  • Almost no one is dehydrated in a first world country. If you're not thirsty and you're not ill, you're extremely unlikely to be dehydrated.
  • Straw yellow is fine. Clear is not necessary. But you're right, if your urine is clear to straw yellow, you are adequately hydrated. Most people don't need to drink more water than they naturally want to.
  • CAN you afford it? Only you can answer that, because only you know if your severance, combined with your unemployment, will be enough to keep you living indoors and eating until you get another job. If the prospect of getting a new job quickly are really good this is probably a good time to work on yourself. OTOH, getting…
  • I am 1000% with you on complaining, but it's important for women to stick up for themselves. Please write the letter yourself. Let your boyfriend help you if you're lacking confidence, but write it and sign it yourself. This matters. Doing it yourself will build confidence, so that next time you'll be able to stick up for…
  • Believe it or not, LOTS of people DO find it sexy, too! For instance, I DO! Why is your opinion somehow more valid than mine? A sales person's job is to SELL STUFF! You do that by making people feel good about how they'd feel if they bought it! If she makes me feel bad about how I'd feel in their clothing, I won't BUY IT!…
  • That's not why I'm here. It's not why I'm losing weight. I'm sexy now. It's not about appearance for me.
  • A bump has two purposes. It keeps a thread up near the top because it keeps it recent, and it puts it in your profile's list of posts so it's easy to find.
  • How about getting protein from a natural source, like nuts. Peanut butter is packed with protein. Or any other nut butter. Heathy fats as well.
  • No, you're not over-reacting. She essentially said you weren't sexy. I'd call the store and ask for the manager. Explain that the sales person, and the store if they agree with her, are mistaken. MANY people find 16/18 women sexy, and 16/18 women want to buy sexy underthings like anyone else. BTW, from you profile pic, you…
  • Because you need to supply fuel for your body to survive. If your BMR is 1476, you burn about 1775 calories a day if you just get up and sit around all day. If you net 1275 calories/day you'll lose about a pound a week. It's not reasonable to expect to net less than 1200, so a pound a week is pretty reasonable for you. At…
  • I'm with you. I hear that not wanting children is selfish, but the reasons for having kids always begin with what the parent wants. "I want to 'leave a legacy'." "I want my family line to continue." But I have to say, I do not believe the comment about taking care of her when she got old was supposed to be sarcasm until it…
  • I love my nieces and nephews and loved holding them when they were little (the youngest is nine now and the oldest 26, so no more holding) but it wasn't "practice." I have never wanted kids. I spent 5 years working for the Dept. of Human Services doing Child Protective Services and teaching parenting skills to parents of…
  • She says she eats 1200 - 1400 calories per day. 300 grams of carbohydrate is 1200 calories, so she's NOT eating 300+ grams of carbs. The math just doesn't add up.
  • Well, 4 pounds is 14,000 calories, so it's not real "weight gain." I vary by 2+ pounds throughout the day, just due to fluids and meals. Water weighs around an ounce per ounce, so a cup of water is half a pound or so.
  • If you look at the actual numbers--who lost how much and what they weigh now, it's more than 40%--it's most of them--and it's a significant portion of the weight. I don't care what the contestants say about it; if you lose a huge amount of weight very quickly, then gain it back, you are worse off, health wise, than if you…
  • I'm weaning myself from Best Buy. I've been Premier Silver for years, and I think I'll let it slide this year and get most of my gadgets from Amazon. The service at Best Buy has gotten really crappy, even if you're Premier Silver. There aren't any actual benefits for Premier Silver anymore. The added points don't make up…
  • Yeah, girl geeks FTW for sure. But I do need to learn some self control. I don't need to own everything I can hack, ya know?
  • Do you know how long the waiting list is for good new releases at the library? I get lots of free and cheap books, and the new releases I really want to read now I just pay the price for. Books are never an indulgence or waste of money. People who read for pleasure gain many benefits beyond just the entertainment of…
  • You pay MONEY for porn? Like there isn't plenty of FREE porn! "The internet is for porn!"
  • The Galaxy Note has some awesome features, but seriously, a phone with a 5" display? I'm really hoping for Sammy to put that out as a tablet or music player w/o the phone. My RAZR is about as big as I'd think is practical for a phone. I see people with Notes and the older Dell Streak up to their ears, and it looks silly.…
  • $68/mo for a smartphone is ridiculous? I pay $102 to Verizon and $55 to T-Mo for my two accounts.
  • Pretty much anything with a processor. I own more tablets (6- 1 iPad, 5 Android), laptops (4 Macs/ 4 IBM compatibles running various flavors of Linux and a Win7 box), phones (7, with two in use at any one time receiving calls from 4 phone numbers), desktop computers (2, though I barely use anymore--no reason as laptops are…
  • THIS^^ As I see it, she is part of the problem, not part of the solution. Her association with Biggest Loser doesn't help me accept her. The contestants on that show do not have a good history of keeping the weight off, and rapid weight loss is seldom sustainable or healthy. Being the one who loses fastest isn't really the…
  • I don't ever force myself to eat. There is no scientifically valid reason to do so. And I don't eat breakfast. I practice 19/5 intermittent fasting, so I only eat between 3:30pm and 8:30pm. This works out because this is when I'm hungry.
  • Most people, even runners, seldom need those electrolytes. Too many electrolytes will cause heart problems. If you're not having symptoms of electrolyte depletion, like muscle cramping, no replacement is needed.
  • Or fruit juice. Apple juice, for instance, provides no more nutrition, and more sugar, than 7up.
  • What is an Irish trashcan?
  • Even hard core runners seldom need much in the line of electrolyte replacement. A single Gatorade after a run in hot/humid conditions may help if you have symptoms of electrolyte depletion (like muscle cramping) but for the most part you can and should replace your fluids with non-sugar-sweetened beverages. Calcium isn't…
  • Community mental health centers provide services on an "afford to pay" basis. If you can't afford to pay, you don't pay. Whether you realize it or not, you need professional help. Reread your original post. You have no friends because everyone you meet is sexist, racist, and/or boring. You have "amazing skills" but are…

  • The OP is correct to avoid medication. There is no evidence it works. Depression, without medication, is usually self-limiting. With medication people are often treated for the rest of their lives. She is, however, resisting any and all suggestions.
