  • Not junk food, but the Eddie V's logo, nice and small- I'd consider it... That one would pay for itself on the first trip!
  • There are a number of non dairy protein powders... soy, egg, beef and more. I still get gas from whey isolate, so even though it supposedly has the lactose removed, I think there is some remaining. The only issue is that it cost a bundle to eventually find the one you like.
  • I love Rocky and Rambo, but stallone has been a long time steroid and HGH user. Not only has he admitted it, he's been caught with the "drugs" more than once.
  • I wouldn't worry so much- it's very unlikely that you could eat enough to gain 8 lbs in a week. (assuming that 1 lb = TDEE + 3500 cals) I bet most of that is water from sodium uptake in that time... I will be up 4-5 lbs in a day with extra sodium... 2 days of drinking lots of water and it's gone.
  • I was the same. After while, I tried a diet mtn dew and it seems right... I know my taste has changed but some mornings I don't want real coffee, so the diet dew is an option. The real dew tastes like straight syrup to me now.
  • http://www.walmart.com/ip/GE-17-Piece-Single-Serve-Rocket-Blender/17780929 Here is what I've been using for the past year... 1-2 times per day and it's still going strong. (i use frozen fruit in almost every shake) I like that you mix in the cups and there is not much to wash. Also, it's small and sits unnoticed behind the…
  • Turn this emotion into anger at yourself for allowing you to sabotage good progress. Buy a few heads of celery and for the next week, anytime you want to binge or want a crappy snack- make yourself eat plain celery stalks. (all you want) I think that in a couple days, your mind will associate the sweet cravings with a…
  • Most place already had the info available- just not up on on the menu board. (which is now very crowded and hard to read at my mcdonalds) So anyone who was actually concerned about it could take a moment and look at the nutritional pamphlet or page BEFORE ordering. This law helps people that don't think about it until they…
  • I started to feel right after I started lifting. before then, I still felt fat- but I was just lighter.

  • only in the beginning when I was getting over my caffeine addiction. After a few weeks, I began sleeping better than ever, as a result of the cleaner living.
  • Unfortunately the only person I know that has done it required a near death experience followed by 2 weeks in ICU... but he left much lighter. If you lose that much weight so fast, it will be all muscle and you;ll be worse off for it.
  • It's a mental challenge. Chances are it took years to put all the weight on... so you can't expect your body to shed the weight and transform in weeks. ***I'd check with your Dr. first*** but I've know a couple people that were in a similar position that walking was exactly what got them out of the chair for good. Use the…
  • The OP checked and the son is in the age allowed... sounds like you should review your gym's policy on age limits. I see a father and son in my gym about 3 days a week- the son is one of the most considerate and polite people I ever see there. Not to mention, he's a hard worker- I like seeing him there, it helps me stay…
  • I'd go with a more balanced approach like 40carb / 30 protein / 30 fats. 40/30/30 is a good general setting.
  • The 1200 already puts you at a deficit which will cause you to lose weight- anything you burn beyond that creates more deficit than you want (and will often burn lean mass which is bad). The process of working out and eating back is fueling the workouts to create more muscle (or retain the muscle you already have) which in…
  • For that temp range, I just run in my normal running clothes and use a zip lock baggie for my iphone- the touch screen works through the baggie and you are getting wet anyway, so a rain jacket won't do you any good. If you are cold, try a long sleeve shirt of one of the teck fabrics, many types will work as intended- wet…
  • Half naked people and free beer..... make the TM the bachelor party!!
  • Well said, I think I'll do just that... and also make a new year's resolution to meet the people I have been working out next to this year. I'll leave the headphones at home for a while and start saying hello to people.
  • When in a similar situation, I cook the meal healthy and make the appetizers and the desserts the "normal" bad stuff people want... that way I can avoid the apps and just have a nice healthy dinner. And if the rest is good, most people won't even realize the meal was healthy. It is Christmas, so I will have some dessert!!…
  • I don't like the treadmill sober or otherwise! Not a big drinker anymore but just wonder about this because so many people ask about it. I'm genuinely curious if it really has an impact or if the other behaviors (like eating crappy while drinking) are the true culprits to the sentiment. I'd guess people grossly…
  • Just my $0.02 worth many posters that post about "a drink or two" after work each night will eventually come to admitting it's much more than 1 or 2 and usually every night. 2 different issues at play here... the calories are one thing and if you are honest about how many drinks, that's simple to account for. Many of us…
  • I would 'guess' you burn 3 times as much walking it.... especially if you walk at a good pace. 6km on a bike is not a workout unless you are pulling something. I think 15 min would be at a leisurely pace also.
  • I think I'm burning cals on my warm up and cool down so I count them... I do all my stretching and stuff first and start it as I go on my "fast walk" leading to the run... and I turn it off when my HR gets back down to about 100 on the cool down.
  • Any chance the recurrent portion of the injury is shoe related? I had a back injury that became a nagging back injury that my worn out running shoes (still looked good so I thought they were fine) re-aggravated with each run.
  • Just do the scheduled day, tomorrow or when you feel better if you are really sick. It's only 3 days per week so you can make up a day later if you feel the need to stay on the calendar. I got real sick during it (week 5 I believe) and picked up with my scheduled day when I got better. It's no big deal to push the calendar…
  • I had very large calves when I was a cyclist... diet, running and weights have shrunk them. Of course I cycled for many years and have been in the gym less than 1, so weights may do it but hasn't yet
  • If you email them a nice note and are honest about what you did- they usually warranty it! They are top notch. I broke mine- 100% my fault and they sent out a new one and wouldn't even let me pay the ship charges.
  • Sometimes they are legitimately down and need help. Glad you offered. I don't give money for the reasons you outlined but will offer to buy them a meal. It's rare that any take me up on it.
  • Let me add one thing... using straps will allow you to up your weight safely but by no means is that quitting... you can still work on grip strength the rest of the workout. it will come with time but you may really miss out on deadlift increases waiting on your hands/forearms to catch up.
  • Why not try a pair of lifting straps? for $10 you can have no trouble holding the bar. I started using them and feel like it's a great way to up the weight and remain safe.
