People here seem to have lost grasp of the fact that MFP is NOT a TDEE calculator. It is asking for your lifestyle without including your exercise. So, if you are a desk worker, your base calorie burn is more than likely in a sedentary range, unless you get up a lot... and I am not meaning the 5 steps to the printer.…

I get really tired of people posting stuff about the Minnesota starvation experiment and the Holocaust as if they are at all relative to conditions people are facing with extreme caloric deficits in modern situations, particularly in situations where weight loss and adaptive thermogenesis have seemingly stalled. Colloquial…

2007 Dodge Charger named Ray, absolutely love him :D

I'm not going to keep popping back up but I figured I'd tell the truth... My goal weight isn't even 170! I'd be underweight at that weight... haha... I'm 430lbs in this picture.
-
I can't help but wonder if this is seriously about my picture... ha! If so, I've never gotten that low of a guess.
-
Well, my guessing would be kinda moot at this point... but... um... I would say I wouldn't have guessed over 200?

I have over 200lbs to lose, and my doctor has advised, even with medical weightloss medication, to still shoot for a modest weightloss of 2lbs per week. While a lot of people like to say it's okay to shoot for big goals when you are very overweight, medical professionals do not. You cannot expect to maintain a good loss if…

That's great that you have a routine for yourself at home. I just wanted to encourage people to look at their employee benefits programs, because many do not, and they are missing out on some great possibilities. For example, my old employer, they had an on-site gym and fitness classes, but they also sponsored a discount…

This is incredibly rude, and I'm not sure why you felt it was necessary to say something like this. I'm even heavier, but I know how it feels to be small. You know how? BECAUSE I HAVE NOT ALWAYS BEEN FAT. Geez.

I have weighed nearly 500lbs. I have felt "skinny" despite my weight starting with a 4. Feeling skinny, in my eyes, has nothing to do with what you eat, but rather how you feel about your body on that particular day. The "feeling skinny" only lasts a short while, then you get back to body issues and wanting to lose or tone…

Hey! I personally utilize the rehab pool of a local hospital. They actually offer the classes to the public, and admittedly, most of the students in the lower fitness levels are elderly, but there are definitely benefits to doing it in a rehab pool as opposed to the Y. One of the big things being that the water is usually…

Again, I said general guideline, but that reputable sources state to adjust based on urine color. I'm not spouting some oh I heard it somewhere thing. It may be true that some dude made it up in a crunch, but it's remained as such due to the fact that the guideline is quite widely accepted by leading medical institutions,…

The 8/8oz glasses is a general recommendation for the average individual that eats a well-balanced diet. Reputable resources state that this is a base-guideline, and the individual should adjust based on urine color. There is plenty of evidence that adequate water is necessary for proper digestion and body functions. I…

Water doesn't flush sodium as much as people like to believe. You need to increase potassium intake to bind to the sodium to move it out of your system efficiently. Otherwise, it's completely dependent on how you expend electrolytes and continue eating after a sodium binge.

I guess I fail cuz I don't watch the show but... I did think "Ditto" If you're going to have accountability *partner* relationships, the point is that you hold each other accountable to the goals... It's not a coaching relationship. WARNING! WARNING! lol

I asked people to pay attention and pipe up when they noticed because it would be encouraging. My biggest loss number to date is 66lbs. I still wear the same clothes. No one has noticed much, except that my face looks different, but they haven't said it's thinner or anything, just more vibrant. Woohooooooo....ooo....…

Am I the only person who is shaking their head at the 8 pages of people who misunderstand the difference between abstinence and celibacy? abstinence= no sex with other people celibacy (as in being celibate)= no sex, no kissing, no *kitten*, no sexual stimulation of any kind. I was celibate until I was 12 and discovered the…

Just for the record, I wasn't in Northern Mexico either. I stand by the fact that I think teaching kids to not waste food, especially in financially strapped families, is a very good lesson. I also did state that I feel the northern influence has had a drastic impact on the Mexican people, and am well-aware of the obesity…

To say you kind of resent them is to lay blame. If you don't blame them, then it's time to drop this sense of resentment.

I'm sorry, but while I didn't live for years in Mexico, I spent plenty of time eating "traditional" Mexican food in Mexico. I'm talking uber poor areas where it's all about the beans, rice and tortillas. Truth be told though, the food isn't exactly uber-healthy. Tacos made with flour tortillas, pulled meats, onions and…

Sorry but... 8k calories isn't going to ruin a month. 8000/31=258 calories per day If you're maintenance is just shy of 1500, and you're cutting to 1200, you are at most making all days a maintenance day... If calories really worked like that. If you at 8k on the 1st, it doesn't just sit around to the 31st. You do lose a…

I get insanely tired of people using terminology associated with serious illness and disorder as casual terminology for random diet choices. Binge eating is totally different than spiking. A binge episode equates to thousands of calories in one sitting for most of us that have suffered and dealt with the problem. Eating a…

I started at 485lbs. In the first two weeks, I lost 17lbs, and another 8 or so in the next two weeks. Then it slowed down, to a stop. Since you've pretty heavy, I'll tell you what I learned through my experience. MFP, the much touted "scooby calculator" that people post on these forums, and other websites that use standard…

Because it's almost Easter, y'all!

Well that's unfortunate. My statements are from firsthand experience. I've got the medical records to prove it :P hahaha

Things like hormones ie: estrogen and fat soluble vitamins, to name a couple, do in fact get released into the blood stream as we "burn" fat cells and force structural alterations to these stores. Depending on how quickly you release these fat soluble chemicals, you can suffer a variety of issues... Whether it be general…

I'm about 6'1" and my end goal weight is 215lbs. I'm not seeking the Skeletor look.

I'm excessively heavy, and these are my go-tos because my knees can't tolerate the impact of my weight during walking just yet: 1. recumbent stationary cycling 2. warm water aquatics (check local rehab centers, they sometimes have public classes that you can enroll in with a discount if recommended by a physician) 3. yoga…

This thread resurrection is a little early for Easter o_O For the record? Yes. All sorts of stuff gets stored. Not just toxic levels, but hormones like estrogen. It's a beast to battle if you're a female who didn't take very good care of herself for a long time *sigh*

Looks like a circulatory horoscope... But really, if this were true, most of my recent issues wouldn't have occurred... It's kinda funny to me too that it says Os are prone to autoimmune issues like arthritis but recommends running as exercise o_O
