  • Bonus! I was just about to list what it tracks... Steps Activity and intensity of activity Sleep Laying down/rest Calorie burns in real time using sweat, body temp, and activity to calculate The program has workout coaching tech, a media player, ability to link with MFP, scales, many fitness challenge/money making sites,…
  • I have a BodyMedia Fit Link. Within 2 weeks of following the burns it registered for my calories instead of MFP or a regular pedometer, I started dropping 3-6 pounds a week (I'm very heavy... this was after my "honeymoon" water loss too) I have absolutely never regretted the purchase! It has helped a lot, showing my sleep…
  • False TNP Didn't celebrate 311 Day, but is now Googling what 311 Day is.
  • I'm a bit older... 31 right now, and when I started, I was 485. My breaking point was when the spinal surgeon told me that while my spine is crumbling due to genetic cause, it would be pointless to do any surgery because my weight would ruin the results. My becoming so heavy was a rocky road of eating disorders, self-hate,…
  • Hey, I gain up to 25 pounds randomly each month over about a week and then drop it after another week and a half. I wish I was only seeing 4lbs change ;)
  • I'm responding to this to explain something to you... There is no "post-eating disorder." I am in recovery like an alcoholic is in recovery. FOR LIFE. I'm a diagnosed anorexic, bulimic, compulsive eating disordered person. This means that through the course of my life since the onset of anorexia nervosa at the age of 17, I…
  • I just don't understand why you disagree with an approach that generates 6-7 pounds a week in loss while drastically improving my overall health, without the use of intervention surgery. 1500 calorie deficit a day is much higher than a lot of people work with. I'm not ignoring your experience, it's just that it doesn't…
  • In my case, not that it's any of your business or even the point of this thread, we have established in MORE THAN ONE INSTANCE that if I drop my my intake to a 2k+ deficit under TDEE, my body reverts to starve mode of anorexia, which I already stated in this thread. I have tripped this mode and gotten stuck several times,…
  • Right. It's not that I'm arguing I fall outside the bounds of thermogenisis, it's that my body function does not work the same way an average person's body works anymore, in the sense of hormonal response to hunger and nutrient needs. My stomach does not grumble. Where other people continue to produce digestive hormones…
  • I'm only replying to say that I am not diabetic, I'm on it for anti-androgen therapy as stated. Look it up, it's directly indicated for PCOS and similar syndromes, you shouldn't just assume that someone taking the medication is taking it for diabetes.
  • If I eat following hunger cues, I'll eat about 900 calories a day most days, if that. I haven't eaten by cue for over a decade. My doctors are in agreement that I need to eat more than that :P Since this is not a post about ED recovery, but rather requesting suggestions, I didn't go into my treatment. I'm at a point where…
  • That sounds super good, thanks!!!
  • I'll admit it wasn't very clear, looking back. I was mentioning it more as a ridiculous goal that seems completely un-achievable to me. I understand the comments about the protein. Lots of people like to assume (incorrectly so) that being over 400lbs means you're a beach ball of fat and have little muscle. I'm definitely…
  • Thank you. Much succinct, better than I did :)
  • I'm not irritated by the attempts to help. I just don't need lectures about my numbers. I'm not asking for it, I'm not concerned about it, so the assumption that I somehow don't have a handle on it when I have had not only great success (and kept it off eating 4k+) but to not even bother to answer what I asked in the first…
  • Right, the default is such, but then it monitors and adjusts over several days. Mine significantly changed. Following their numbers made the pounds drop off. Since then, I've lost about 1/3 of my income, so I am just trying to get back to following the numbers within my cost abilities. I don't expect people to understand…
  • Yeah, I've had function checks as well as ultrasounds of the kidneys. I drink my water in 3 liter bottles. 240g of protein isn't very excessive for me because of my body composition. We're not even trying to get me down into the "healthy" range for my height (140-185lbs) because it would require significant muscle…
  • I wish people would actually read what I'm asking for... My protein goal is currently 240g. I was just commenting on scooby calculations and their ridiculousness when it came to trying to make a plan.
  • I don't lose. Plain and simple. As I stated in my post, I'm in recovery. My metabolic processes have been negatively impacted as such, and I don't really have the option of fasting or drastically undereating. It's already been observed that it quickly turns for the worse. When I started at MFP and stuck the idea that I…
  • BodyMedia doesn't do the same calculations actually. Do you even know how it works? BMFL estimates my BMR significantly lower than the calculators based on the burns it's tracked for me, which is why I use it as opposed to the calculators, and tell anyone of significant size they are better off. Editing to clarify: BMFL…
  • My current goals are set as recommended by my monitors and have been reviewed and approved by my physicians. I'm not asking for deficit advice, I'm asking for high calorie nutrient dense but budget friendly options. The most successful weightloss I've had to date was while working out and eating about 3500-4000 a day. Just…
  • It's not. And if it is, then everyone posting to all these threads to rely on the scooby to tell people what to shoot for should stop. Why? because they estimate my BMR at 2754. My BodyMedia Unit is what I go by personally. The default in their calculator is a high protein diet. I readjusted mine to be 45% of calories from…
  • Wow, with so many people here that like to speak up on other threads, I'm surprised I haven't gotten anyone yet... :( @Nash that's interesting. I wonder if I could just get some mega-protein things from the internets? I have no idea where would be best to do that...

  • You'd think a "med student" would also be in the business of encouraging people to rely on their healthcare professionals rather than the TV or Internet. I immediately thought of it as "med student" meaning "taking a CNA course at the community college." That's not to put down CNAs, but to say that they have no business…
  • One thing I find very very interesting is that of the supplements and medications that have ACTUAL FDA approval and peer reviewed proof of working, I've yet to see a thread crop up like this. There are many supplemental options that have had moderate effects on weightloss that run far lower risks. I don't understand why…
  • You cannot determine whether one is better than the other if you do not start at the same starting point with both. Weighing less/being smaller when starting one over the other automatically makes the results inconclusive. We lose at a slower rate the closer we are to the ideal weight. Green Coffee Bean=unroasted coffee.…
  • Make sure that if you are relying on MFP that you force it to recalculate your numbers regularly. MFP only adjusts it after you've lost like 10 pounds, it does not change with every update unless you manually update your targets. All calculators are estimates, so unless you get a measurement done of your personal…
  • Nope, and I won't, since I didn't get any niceness :( lol
