If you feel 1200 is too low for you, I suggest setting your calorie goal to 1 lb/week weight loss (assuming you need to lose 50 pounds per your weight loss ticker) for a higher calorie allowance. Or, go here to find an appropriate calorie goal for you: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ Some people can do a…

Sara you are an inspiration to so many, including me. I re-read your story all the time. I just had to bump this for you in case there is any one else out there who may need that inspiration today. Thanks for all the hard work you do around here helping people. You don't really know me but I just wanted to chime in and say…

Well I'm not afraid to keep my diary open to my friends, but I am afraid that you think having a Big Mac once in awhile is bad! I don't keep my diary open to shame myself and it makes me sad you have that mentality. It should be for accountability and honesty, and sharing ideas. Not shaming. I would never shame…

Hi, I'm trying to lose at least 120 pounds. That will get me just into the "healthy BMI" range. After that, I'd like to lose 20-25 more. Anyone who is serious can add me.

Wow, that is some hard work and determination right there! Great job!

Try typing in "starvation mode" into the search feature on here. Hundreds of results pop up as this has been asked over and over. The search feature is great  For example here's a good one I picked off the second results page: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/761810-the-starvation-mode-myth-again

Uuuum eat a HUGE meal and wear your heaviest clothing (like jeans and a sweater). Put all of your loose change in your socks  Seriously weird....

Glad this got bumped back up from last new years. Some good reading!

I've been friend requesting all the people who have chimed in that they eat way MORE than 1200 calories a day on this thread!!  I like your idea too, I may just do that.

Sounds like she just wants someone to tell her the latest crash diet to follow.

Are you implying that people who chose to lose weight at a healthy rate (.5 - 2 pounds per week) eating at a modest calorie deficit (or in your terms "taking their time") are not working hard? Yeah, those slow and steady people who sensibly reached their goal weights didn't work hard at all

Wow let me just say you are a beautiful lady in both pictures! You have made quite the transformation, congratulations. You are rockin' that dress! I love your smile in the after photo, and your curves are insane. You look so fabulous and it's obvious you feel fabulous. Great job and thanks for sharing!!

Something that doesn't require a lot of time, space or money is "You Are Your Own Gym" by Mark Lauren. It's a book. Look it up. Use it. 30 min or less body weight workouts, I found when I did them my little one wanted to do it with me mimicking my movements. He also has an app if you have a smart phone or iphone which…

It isn't a big deal. You say the words "clean eating" around here and people go bat**** crazy. I know what you meant - whole foods, healthy stuff like lean meats, veggies, fruits ect. Some people just like to nitpick and go off topic, and never contribute to the topic of the thread itself. Topic here was basically "looking…

We literally skrimp and save 11 months out of the year, so when Christmas comes around we can afford to buy some nice things for our kids. No, we literally live like cheapskates all year round. We have 2 kids (ages 6 and 13) and usually spend $150-$200 on each child come Christmas time. Usually 1 big gift for each, a few…

That's nice, honey.

Hi there! You can totally do this. I only have 2 suggestions. First, set your MFP weight loss goal to lose "1 pound per week". Secondly, do not cut out any foods (unless you need to for medical reasons). Try to make healthy choices for the bulk of your diet (like 80%) and then allow yourself to have your treats or snacks…

We won't shoot your for your question about the barbell weight, but people may shoot you when mention "lifting" in a Smith Machine! Yes that bar at least at my gym for the smith is super light, like 20 pounds. No way its 72. May I ask why you are using a Smith machine instead of free weights?

I just had to come in here and say D@MN!!! You look absolutely amazing. There is no way you look even close to being 46. You are beautiful! You give me serious hope for the future lol

If I had a family to support and was poor enough to be on public assistance, I would not use my food allowance on protein powder for myself at $15 (at least) a tub. Really? $15-$20 could buy 3-4 meals for my family. Sounds pretty selfish to me. I don't care how many feathers get ruffled here. Stuff like this makes me mad!…

I'm sorry, but I'm laughing my butt off imagining you trying to squat and bench with tubs and coffee tables  Seriously. And you are using some sort of machine? That is not Stronglifts 5x5. Get the right equipment, or access to a gym that has a squat rack/power cage and bench and do it from the start again properly.…
