Forum marketing please go. At least two people in this thread have never used the forum once except to talk about Belviq. :P

Honestly, this makes some sense to me. Historically humans were probably exposed to short term caloric restriction quite a bit. If the tribe didn't get a kill everyone went hungry for a few days until they got one, then everyone binged til it was gone I imagine. Long term caloric restriction (months long, etc) is probably…

LOL. Yep, sure. Sweety, you're doing so good on the weightloss I got you a box of Captain Crunch. :P
-
I'm confused. Who's fault is someone's weight problem if not their own?
-
OptiFast has you eating like 800-1000 calories a day. A 30 minute walk isn't going to give him that level of calorie reduction based on the diet his post makes it sound like he and his fiance were eating previously. That said, stick to your plan OP. However, please give your relationship some second thoughts. Supporting…

Right. Like the original poster said, go with a combination of multiple points of reference so a single number isn't the hinge point for your feelings of success.
-
Not joking. I'm asking honestly. Which is more likely, that the poster lost lets say 10 pounds of fat and gained 9 pounds of muscle in 6 months (just putting numbers in here for the sake of example), or due to tanning, some toning, changes in body hydration over a 6 month period, and posture changes, the after picture…
-
It looks like you got a tan and sucked in your abs some. Am I missing something?
-
Squee. It makes me want to run amok.
-
I like you.
-
So someone saying they want friends who are women, or have gastric surgery, or are a certain age, etc, are fine and dandy but this is flamebait? Nice.
-
Careful you don't cut yourself with all that edgy.
-
So some new person doesn't try subsist on 8g of protein a day most likely.

Every other Monday I buy sandwich fixings and salad stuff for two weeks and keep in the fridge at work. No muss no fuss, no forgetting to bring my lunch or not having time to pack one in the morning. Works for me.

I just assume everything like noodles, kung pao, etc, is 400 calories a cup. White rice is pretty straightforward. Hot and sour soup is fairly low cal, so I have that and a couple cups basically of whatever looks the tastiest and call it good.

Agreed. There are two kinds of fish acceptable to eat in the workplace: Pepperidge Farms Goldfish and Swedish Fish.

Some degree of sacrifice is necessary in every marriage. I'd be perfectly happy sitting at home playing video games all day then hanging out with my friends every night, but obviously that's not an option. Not saying OP is out of line of course, but when you're married there are more important things than overarching…

Long. Not even a contest.

I felt pretty good at 485 pounds, but I'm preeeeeety sure that wasn't a good weight for me. Lo and behold over 100 pounds later I feel even better, and I'm still going. Using good bloodwork numbers alone as an indicator of health sucks too. My blood sugar and cholesterol were fine for a long time (over 20 years), until one…

If someone is a rare physical specimen outlier, they should ask for a body fat test instead. Most people don't have that problem however.
-
For the sub 1% of the population this applies to, sure. Most everyone else fits in the numbers fine. But muh thin privilege!!
-
You're a ginger, aren't you? Leave my soul alone!! ;)
-
Does "without judgement or conditions" always apply? Let's try a hypothetical: "I'm at a cross-road in my life right now. I'm 23 years old and I've always been unemployed, as far back as I can remember! I have been in my current relationship for 5 years going on 6 in Sept, I'm engaged, and since being in this relationship…

If she's eating at a deficit, making sure she hits her macros, and doesn't have a metabolic condition she will have no problems with the carbohydrates in potatoes, rice, beans, or pasta. If carbs from rice caused obesity the third world should be full of 300 pounders right? Canned salmon runs like $0.75 an ounce, so it…

Here we go again with the "Any opinion that doesn't support my already decided upon course of action, even though my initial post asked for opinions, is rude and/or bullying" deal. Yay OP!
-
If you have time to do food prep buy the basics. Chicken (bone-in is cheaper), rice, beans, pasta, fruits, veggies, eggs, etc, and make things from recipes. Crockpot recipes are great and provide meals for several days.

Not weird at all. I'm with you. I have two friends on MFP, who are both people I know IRL. Every time I accept a friend request on here it goes one of a couple ways: a) they vanish after a month or so, b) they just like every diary message and say something like "Good Job!" or "Way to go!" like it's Facebook but never…
-
Pretty much all of this. I used a 2 pounds a week deficit myself and didn't have any problems with binges or cravings, but your mileage may vary. I started at nearly 500 pounds, so I didn't even start working out until I had lost like 50 pounds after 4 months or so, and my exercise after that was recumbent biking in my…

It goes something like this:

Tabasco or Sriracha and mac and cheese go together like peanut butter and chocolate though.
