  • We have just finished the Xmas Shortbread, I have never made it last this long, but even so it is High Cal so we should be better now that it is all gone.
  • We find, wife and I, find that we are better off eating nothing until the evening meal, if we are about to eat cardboard then a carrot helps, then it is either a one skillet dish or an omelette with a bit of cheese and loads of steamed greens. The Kalettes or Kale flowers are fantastic, but they are a new vegetable this…
  • On FD I usually have de caf Tea all day and then in the evening I like a 1 skillet dish that started off with Kale, but it was a bit fibrous so now any greens sliced finely with a pack of chopped tomatoes over the top and cook for a bit, then crack a couple of eggs per person on to the top, cover and cook for a further 5 -…
  • Flossy if you do stretch as far as the UK then I can fill several days/weeks for you but mainly pre history. After all everyone wants to go to Stonehenge, but very few have even heard of Avebury, which is much older and very much bigger, and only 20 miles from Stonehenge.
  • There has been some work done recently and the best way of moving the stones is ropes on a bed of seaweed as a lubricant, there is plenty of seaweed. This needed less manpower than even rollers, The rollers were out as there are very few trees on Orkney, Also the midwinter sunrise is between the two hills on the horizon to…
  • These are the Stones of Stennes and the big one on the right is about 3.2 meters out of the ground and about half that in the ground, so a big block of stone to move and erect. All done 5000 years ago, well before the pyramids of Egypt.
  • I am no where near as exciting as that. I am semi retired and repair push bikes for people to stop me getting bored. and I am now just off to volunteer at the local library, to help others who are not as able, Then later I will do some more preparation for a talk I am giving about the Orkney Islands, and their Neolithic…
  • The chimp is in your head,
  • It comes from the Chimp Paradox by Prof Steve Peters. I find it a brilliant book on helping to understand people.
  • Bad fast day today, I was doing well until this evening when my chimp came out to play. Not good, never mind a lighter day tomorrow and then a fd on Thursday should put me back on track.
  • Congratulations Flossy. That is and will be a great motivator. I use a fitbit and it adjusts my MFP calories down to a more realistic level.
  • That is first fast day of the year. Read before posting Doooooohhhhhhh
  • First fast of the day for me, a couple of raw carrots during the day and a bowl of none thickened veg stew this evening, Exercise wise 25 mins on a spin bike, about an hour walking, then 41 mins of weight/circuit training. This was way better than yesterday when I was so de motivated I only managed 15 mins on the weights.…
  • Happy New Year to everyone
  • Hi I am not far from you either in Tamworth. Feel free to add me, but add a message of some sort.
  • A quiet Christmas for us here, as I am less than a week post cardioversion, but I still ate too much, but most of the spare is now in the freezer for use during the next couple of months, Just starting back on exercise, but again I have to be very gentle. Walk and weights, as they do not put the pulse up too much. Fasting…
  • Firstly I must apologise for not being here at all for a bit I got a bit low, what with not being able to cycle or even exercise with a dodgy ticker, I finally had my cardioversion on Wednesday, and now feel a lot better, I am now looking forward to very slowly increasing my exercise. Max pulse for this week for me is 50,…
  • Midlands been here a while now.
  • Flossy I also find that low fat cottage cheese helps me on a fast day. If you do not do dairy then tofu and hoy sin sauce is not to bad, with some spring onions dropped in just before the finish of cooking.
  • @oolou Thanks for that I will install in a bit. Assessment went well and I am now scheduled for a re-boot. Should be fun but I will be out of it under a GA then it is just get back to the exercise very gently.
  • Hi flossy, I do need to track the calories, but I got very frustrated by the adverts slowing my whole system down. The health issue is AF (Atrial Fibulation ) where my resting pulse is very high, I have been told to cycle as much as possible (good) oh but take these pills that will make it very hard work. Still it is pre…
  • My few months away have not been good, 7kg back on. but it has remotivated me to start logging again. However medical problems have curtailed my cycling which is bad news. But I am hoping that a procedure on 1st August will put things right. I can then start upping the mileage a bit more. Oh and yes I do do pushups as part…
  • I am afraid that I will be out of touch for a bit as grandparent duties call. I will try not to overeat and finish of the snacks. I will also try to do a bit of exercise. But when I get back I need to get back on the game.
  • @mamainthekitchen yes I do fast on weight training days and last year I managed to acclimatise myself to riding about 60 miles fasted, but that took some time to train my body. FD Tuesday but with a big pasta supper left me a bit short on energy at about 70 miles on Wednesday's ride, so out with the chocolate flapjacks and…
  • Hi All I am now back on the waggon having let thing slip a bit since Xmas. UP a kilo or 2 or 5 so things need to change. mamainthekitchen I do weight training, but I use lighter weights but with high reps, as I do not want to build large muscles, but I wan strong ones for the cycling. fd today but I will have a bigger…
  • Beaten to it by @flumi_f that is what I do as well
  • boomblatty1 I hope that the snow is not too bad for you. flumi any long duration exercise works for carbo loading. I was on the bike for 12 hours.
  • It was enjoyable, today, at the time it was a little hard going. never mind I did it. first of the year. done.
  • Even though I am carbo loading today in preparation for tomorrow's 212 km bike ride, I am still a little under my target.
