  • Good start to the week with 3 exercise sessions, walk, Turbo (stationary bike) and circuit training. now I just have to keep it up.
  • I was going to roll my omlett around some sardines, then I looked at the calories on the tin, they went back into the cupboard. 800+ for a quick snack that I used to eat between meals.
  • I like and do a lot of cycling, of the endurance kind, not the speed sort. I am addicted to a form of cycling called Audax. There are events all over the world, ranging from 50km up to 1400km. It is none competitive, with only you knowing your time over the event. It is baased on total average speed, so if you are quick…
  • Fast day tomorrow looking forward to it. Plenty of work to do to keep me occupied.
  • Yes I like them, as I feel empowered. I have taken control of food rather than the other way round. Looking forward to tomorrow.
  • Fell off the waggon a bit today, FD yesterday and a 2.5 hour walk this morning, left me feeling a bit wobbly and very hungry, into the butchers for some eggs and they had sausage rolls and pies there calling to me. Never mind I had to get the energy backk as I have a 70 mile bike ride tomorrow. Back on the waggon Monday,…
  • Stay safe all. I will be up for an exercise board. But I will be rather boreing as everything is based on cycling. Even the circuit training is to strengthen my core, so that i can ride for longer.
  • Porridge but the one with the extra bran in. and yes I do feel energised even now before the porridge as the sky is cloudless. Yesterday was wet and we had a fallow day.
  • ss is Spreadsheet. 10lbs is excellent. I was just saying that on this way of life my weight goes up as well as down. I find that the average is more reassuring.
  • I weigh every day, then put the weight into a ss to calculate the 7 day average, this is the figure that I use. In fact it is a weighted average. eg todays weight X 7 + yesterdays X 6, etc, then divide the final total by 28. This smothes out all the shorter term ups and downs. I know that when I do a long bike ride I will…
  • I have only be doing 5:2 since the new year, and find that my weight goes up and down like a YO YO. but the trend is down. Just stick with it as things do move eventually.
  • FD2 for me as well. I have just had a mushroom omlette with mange toute peas. and now feel very full. just must not go mad over the weekend.
  • you can set spurious calories, complete the day, then delete the extras this puts the graphs back as they should be.
  • I find that on feast days if I use a smaller fork/ spoon I eat slower and feel full on less. tip from the BBC Horizon program for all those over the pond.
  • In my 5th week and down 6 lbs I know that this will fluctuate for various reasons. But 5:2 works for me as on fast days I do not have to think about food at all untill the evening. 6ft 5ins 110 kg on the 1/1/15 and now at 104.9, but that is after the first fast day of the week, it will go up, but the trend is down. I read…
  • Another Charge HR user here. I used to have the flex but it started not holding its charge and I was having to charge it up every day, rather than wearing it. Had a couple of months without either but got lazy, so invested in a charge and it has got me moveing again. Heart rate on a static bike is not super accurate but…
  • [quote=" Does anyone know of any good exercises for toning up legs and getting rid of the dreaded orange peel? I have a dodgy knee so can't kneel on it for long or do lots of squats with it. Have a good week.[/quote] Have you tried cycling, If the saddle is high enough it does not hurt the knees.
  • Someone explained it to me this way Carbes get digested to glucose and this triggers the body to secrete insuline which packs the glucose away from the blood into fat or glycogen. When there is no more to work on the excess insuline sends a message out saying "need more glucose" which is the hunger pangs. It is the…
  • I have a couple of trend lines and then average them to get a smoother trend. The trends are a rolling 7 day average, and a weighted rolling 7 day average. nerd? moi
  • Third fasted Tuesday yesterday, I have found that if I do not have carbohydrate on a fast day I do not get hunger pangs. Then go for a walk at midday, for distraction.
  • Good day yesterday, but I had no energy for the bike this morning and only managed 40 mins.
  • Weight goes up and down like a YO YO. Track trends not weights. then compare today's trend amount with the same day last week or the week before.
  • An hour on the turbo for B'fast, with an orange to follow. Midday will be a walk, tonight will be a prawn omlette. There may be a session with the weights as well.
  • Another daily weigher here but I graph it out and only look at the trends over a week. My weight after my second fast day is always up, but gets sorted after a few days with the required visits.
  • Yet another newby, and another Brit. I have been on the 5:2 for 10 days now but I am also uping the exercise, this has given me a small weight gain. Thanks for the work round on logging fast days. I have about 30 lbs to go.
  • Sorryto hear your news, But treat it as a change of job. your new job is finding new employment. I set myself a target of 20 applications per day and collected loads of addresses, reapply after 3 months. Only 1 company kept my details that long. Good Luck
  • You should be able tofind someone to show you how to change a tube and then practice. you will probably have to do it in the rain. Which is why a repair kit is not that useful on the road. The same goes with the chain tool.
  • It will get easier. I always have a pump attached to the bike, and check that it works every now and then. along with a spare tube,or two. I am a pessimist. I also carry a chain tool and a quick link. and learn how to use these before you need them. What part of the world are you in.
