I just wanted to say thank you to all the incredible comments I've received from all of you. My running post has brought me some wonderful, truly inspiring friends . You guys kill me with your thoughtful, heartfelt comments and messages. I don't want to let anyone down. I think of all of you and all your stories every time…

We had a meeting in a very old amphitheater room at the hospital I work at. I'd never been in the room before because it's steep and old and I tend to use the nicer rooms but we were in a pinch. The chairs were old wooden school desk style chairs with the desk that flips over your lap. It was built probably in the 40s or…

Skinnytaste.com has several that I lovelovelovelove.

I am also a slow runner. I started out with a 19 minute mile and have increasingly sped that up since I started back in February. Like another poster, I've faced the whole "Oh no, you're just a jogger honey, not a runner. You need to get faster before you're running." This attitude makes me crazy, so does the one where the…

You have to tell your trainer what you're feeling. He/she isn't a mind reader! I started out at 335 lbs and lunges remain a problem for me, but I've learned to love squats. You might too some day, but if your body isn't ready it isn't ready and your trainer (should) respect that limitation. I had to build up some strength…

Zucchini - I make EVERYTHING out of zucchini these days Also Hummus. YUM.

My husband and I have a couple of local places where the food is always awesome and we love supporting our local businesses. So the few times we go out to eat we choose from those places only. The only time we go to chain restaurants is if we're being dragged there by friends. The bonus of going to our favorite local…

Also a lot of leg resistance training works more than your legs. Most exercises work your butt, your back, and your abs - the whole core. I love squats now with weights and deadlifts are growing on me. I second using The New Rules for Lifting for Women. Very, very very basic definition but you gradually increase the amount…

I started at 335, then started on MFP when I was at 330. I am now at 307.

My doctor told me I should be eating fruit, despite the sugars. It's still sugar, but when you EAT the fruit (not drink it) you get all the fiber and vitamins and minerals that come along with it and these are things your body needs. And you should be getting them right from the fresh source, not from a vitamin pill. My…

Haha, this is awesome. Just say hi and talk to her like you'd want someone to strike up a conversation with you. There's nothing creepy about that. You're adorable. It'll be fine.

I'm always afraid that when I'm spending my time at the gym I'm not getting the most out of it. Since I can't afford a personal trainer, how should I design my workout routines? Or, better yet, is there a definitive site or source that can help me build the right routines? Right now I use a combo of free weights and…

My problems started when I was in grade school. My mom had a lot of mental health problems that kept her from working and forced us to live on state aid. On top of that, she had this weird fear of growing old. She kept young friends, dated as much as possible, was obsessed with her weight, her skin, and her hair and made a…

I think it depends on your relationship. My husband and I communicate really well and have talked a lot about our weights and our health and we're pretty open about it. When he was diagnosed with diabetes a year and a half ago, he told me he wanted me to start being healthier too so we weren't both sick. We were straight…

I pre-log everything first thing in the morning. It helps me plan my day and there's no guess work later on. I go back and edit if I need to, but I rarely need to when I pre-plan and pre-log.

I have a friend who had luck with using a combo of weight training, drinking a lot of water, and moisturizing her skin every night while she lost weight. I'm following in her footsteps because I have so much to lose I'd like to minimize the amount of skin I'm left with in the end. I'm using St. Ives Renewing Collagen…

I don't get them very often, but every once in a while when I've been skimping on my fluids for a few days. When I experience calf cramps it's because I'm dehydrated and my potassium is low. I eat a banana most days or every other day and I make sure I get my 8 glasses of water in every day and that I've had some water…

Thank you everyone for your great ideas!

Oh my gosh, yes you can! December is plenty of time to train up! I know when I started running I had many days of "I'll never be able to do this." I think I mentioned in another comment that when I started I was doing barely more than a "shuffle run" and I couldn't sustain that for more than 10-20 seconds. It was so hard…

You guys made me tear up again !! Thank you so much.

I dry heaved at the end of my first one too. It felt like a right of passage :-)

I started with C25K back in February. I was so upset at first because the week 1 was hard. SO hard. And after week 1 there was no way I was ready for week 2. Instead of stopping, though, I just repeated week 1 until I could do it without any trouble. I think I repeated it 4 or 5 times. Every week was easier and then I…

Thank you all so much! I'd like to say that I was able to run the whole thing straight without stopping, but that's not true. I'm not there yet but I'm getting there! The first mile was easy and the rest required a lot of walking/running/walking/running. That's fine for me :-) My doctor was really great and told me I could…

Wow you look great!!! Congrats to you!!!! We're very similar. You're a wonderful inspiration :-)

Hey I was there!! I was just about to make a post of my own about this race. It was my 2nd. I am a very slow runner, but I shaved a few minutes off my time from the run I did in April. It was so well organized. The run had so much verve and excitement. Glad to hear you had fun!

@coachrobinson: I took your advice and called the doctor back and told them what happened and that I was having trouble walking. They called me in to have an xray immediately. (I work at the hospital so I was able to go straight over). I have an appointment at 2pm today to find out what I've done. Thank you all for your…

@ekking69 - I have been keeping all my front photos togther in a document in photoshop and all of the side ones together with the months under each picture. It's so amazing to see the change visual. I also had my husband take one with no shirt of my back. I've seen a lot of changes there too, but I'm not posting my…
