I didn't gain 10 pounds on vacation!! The few pounds gained on vacation isn't the problem. I can't seem to get back on track AFTER the vacation. That's where the REAL weight gain comes in!

Yes, for sure, because I lost four pounds the first week, and I am pretty small. The rest was fat weight because my clothes were very tight. When you are short and have a small frame you feel every pound!
-
"And If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take to finally come off?" I didn't lose every week. I'd lose 1/2 pound one week, none the next, then maybe 1 or 1/2 pounds the next week. The weeks I didn't lose any were the worst, but I decided I wasn't willing to cut more calories, or go on a "fad" diet, so I just kept…

Those of you who lost on 1,200 calories, did you gradually add back 100 per week until you stopped losing or did you jump right into maintainable? I lost on 1,200 and reached my goal weight last week (yay!). I added 100 per day last week, and found I had lost 1 1/2 pounds when I weighed in this morning.

So true. I recently went through this very thing, and it was soooo frustrating! I did ^^^. Just kept at it, and it finally came off. I just had to be patient, and yes it was hard but SO worth it!

Thank you for posting this! I have just started adding back calories last week to maintain, and I am small as well (5'3", 113 pounds, 48 yrs old). I was afraid I'd have to eat such a small amount to maintain, and this is very encouraging!
-
I am right where you are! I reached my goal last week, and upped my calories 100 per day (to 1,300). It took me a few days to eat those extra calories, but I pushed myself to do it because I know I can't go through the rest of my life eating 1,200 calories! It got easier after a few days, and I am planning to up it another…

I have been a runner for 18 years. When you are starting to run, it's very strenuous, and that's to be expected. The main thing is to be consistent. With time, it will become easier. You just have to be patient and keep at it. If you stick with it long enough, you may find you love it just as I did.

I know I didn't gain 1/2 pound of fat, but I thought the scale would be down so it was a little disappointing. It's just hard to be patient and add calories gradually, but I know it's for the best. On the bright side, I feel great at the weight I am, and I'm thrilled to be here. Now I just need to STAY here!

Thank you all for the advice. I'm still not sure if I should stay at 1,300 this next week or increase to 1,400 per day as I had planned. I have done this before and maintained on far more than 1,300 calories per day!
-
I have done it several times and maintained for awhile, but I always think I can stop logging, then I start gaining! I am one pound from goal now and I've started gradually adding. This week I've tried to average 1,300 a day. Some days I eat fewer, some days more, but I average 1,200 and now 1,300. I'm sure I'll end up…

I try to stay around 1,200 calories. I am small (5'3", 113 pounds), and 48 yrs old, so I'm not able to eat as much as others and still lose. I exercise six times per week, and I try not to eat my exercise calories back, but if I'm hungry, I do.
-
I did the exact same thing recently (switched from 1200 to 1400) because I am close to goal. Are you still losing at 1400?
-
Is that for weight loss or maintainence? Asking because I am pretty small and would love to be able to eat 1400 and still lose!
-
Yes, that makes complete sense. As much as I want to get these last few pounds off, I'm really getting worn down exercising so much and eating so little. I think staying at maintenance for a few weeks would be helpful for me right now. I ate very little yesterday with plans to eat more today, and I feel awful. I couldn't…

I weigh, measure, and log everything. Also, I exercise for an hour six days a week, so I don't feel I could add more exercise.
-
I think I'm just doubting whether or not I will be able to eat this amount long term and be happy. I do work out a lot (6 days a week, running and strength training), and I think I could eat more, but I'm afraid to. I have been staying at 1200 cal and not eating any of my exercise calories back, because I'm afraid I won't…

Sedentary. But I'm going to try switching to lightly active. It give me the same calories for weight loss, but a few more for maintainence.
-
Yes, and those give me more since they count in exercise. I think they give me about 1,700 or 1,800 which I could do most days. I would like to indulge a little now and then though. It just seems like most people get so many more calories! Even when I set MFP at .5 pounds a week, I still get 1,200 for weight loss. I was…

I'm trying to lose a few more pounds. I'm happiest at 112 or 113.
-
I set my activity level at sedentary. I am a teacher, so I am lightly active on the days I work. Not so much on the weekends, other than structured exercise. I have been dieting on and off for quite a while. I lose and gain the same 10 pounds over and over, and that's why I decided to join MFP. I thought tracking would…

I'm there with you. I maintained a weight loss for years, then my son passed away unexpectedly and I stopped caring. For months, I could barely eat at all, then I just ate what I wanted thinking it would help me feel better. And I just didn't care. The thing is, junk food didn't make me feel better at all - it made me feel…

I am a binge eater, too. I was having a really hard day, wanting to forget this whole thing and binge, when I saw this thread. I knew I could get through that one day, and I did! I didn't go over my calories and didn't binge! It has helped me so much! When I don't feel like working out, I have been thinking, "I'll do it…

I lost 40 pounds 15 years ago, and have kept it off all these years (within about 5 pounds). I can say from personal experience, this one day WILL NOT affect your weight loss in any way that you'll be able to tell. Just enjoy this day, and start back tomorrow. Don't let it turn into a week-long binge. I have found that if…
