very. we don't put weight on our driving licenses.

A lot of noise here. Yes, counting is good because guessing is bad, but counting can go wrong too. Almost every entry in the MFP food DB is wrong on at least one metric, and Americans seem obsessed with the idea that a "portion size" is constant. Two weeks where everything is more or less the same is probably enough to…

I actually find man v food inspiring.... there are sooo many people on there that I really don't want to be like, that it completely puts me off excessive eating :)

The wedding is primarily for the mother of the bride, at least it's fairly common in American culture. So he should probably suck it up and let her have her day. If she thinks that a wedding is representative of married life, then the marriage won't last long. Anyone who thinks that their wedding will be the happiest day…

Totally agree with OP. And the "end goal" is just that - there's a whole lot of life that's going to happen between now and then, so be happy during those times too. And when you get there, there will be new targets and goals. And I should stop starting sentences with "and."

I don't want to live in society where people are reduced to a number between 1 and 10. Fortunately, I don't.

There are loads of us!

Makes me feel old when people think Sonic is old skool! For me, it's probably Space Invaders, Defender, Moon Cresta. Later Gauntlet, Space Harrier, Outrun. Modern era: all the Zelda games.

You should delete your posts here too, as this is completely public and see you talking about hiding something from facebook. Basically, if you want to keep it secret, don't put it online, although facebook (used properly) can be very private.

My garage is my basement... and it's shared by all the other people in my apartment building. My gym is the great outdoors!

I don't understand why people call it 'cheating.' Maybe it's an American English thing. It's cheating if you eat 2000 cals but log 1500 and pretend it didn't happen, but that's not what's going on here.

Could be worse, could be one over day in three. But it's too early to tell. After 100 days, see how many you went over and how much closer to your fitness/health goals you've got. If you're satisfied, great, if not, change something.

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=low+calorie+snacks+uk finds lots of health and lifestyle magazine articles on the subject. But then it also finds this thread, so YMMV.

Like a fitbit, or actually a fitbit? Fitbit is available in UK from here http://www.fitbit.com/uk/store I'm not keen on steppers personally - they can fool you into thinking your doing [enough] exercise where you're mostly just counting your normal daily exertion cals.

My missus is semi supportive. In my goals, certainly but doesn't want to be part of the process, but that's ok. For you, it sounds like you need someone in your like that cares about you, regardless of your healthy/fitness goals.

I had mine removed by keyhole surgery a few years back. Procedure was fine, overnight in hospital, home next day and back to work within a week. No problems since. My consultant said that eating food that has either too much fat or too little fat can cause some interesting digestive effects (because there's no bladder to…

When you say "our" society, which one do you mean?

Overeating and under exercising makes you fat.

Not seen anything this year, but last year I noticed people getting a bit lost in the large gym and ended up walking into the wrong changing (locker) rooms... or from changing rooms into the toilets or whatever. And of course, struggling with locks on the lockers. Shouldn't laugh though - we were all there once.

Doing it standing on one leg and you improve your core stability too

The bulk of my early weight loss and cardio fitness came from walking, so yes. Just try to go a bit quicker than usual for some of the route and do steps/stairs rather than take lifts/escalators where possible. Crank it up to a jog if you feel it!

Feeling chunky at the moment, and got the running bug in 2011, but spent much of 2012 recovering from stress fractures (oops) so getting back to it this year slowly and carefully! I'm 40lb over my /bmi/ ideal weight. Can knock out a 5k or more, but keep my runs between 3.5 to 5k, and now plan on 2 or 3 runs per week. Rain…

Sounds like you are the sort of person who enjoys pizza, so enjoyment would be a pro. Everything else would be a con, unless it all fits within your nutritional macro goals!

I prefer morning workouts, but just because I'm a morning person. When I do work out in the evening, I have no trouble sleeping as I'm generally exhausted from the day + exercise.

The fan on my computer and a train going by in the distance.

Home with the missus, toasting the Russian NY at 2100GMT and again for UK NY at 0000GMT. Jules Holland on telly goes down well.

I let my stress fractures properly heal.

Extremely rarely - it's like a salt mine.
