Happy Cinco de Mayo!

You are responsible for how you perceive the world. Others are under no obligation to lie to you or say things a certain way because of what you may or may not be dealing with. As for the "You aren't doing this"... you weren't doing things? You weren't measuring; it's not being negative to point out that that's an issue!…

The bolded statements are all in your head. As others said, the psych recommendation wasn't an insult: it was a sincere recommendation. Your mother might very well be part of why you have problems today. A therapist would do wonders for you. As would a doctor you work with regularly that's not an OB/GYN. Until you work…

Okay. 1.) You said you were leaving. Apparently not. 2.) No one, anywhere, recommended you do 1200. 3.) We don't have to make assumptions that your calorie counting is inaccurate if it is, in fact, inaccurate. 4.) A psychiatrist recommendation isn't mean. Really? Do you view going to a mental health professional as…

Interesting. I took care of my disabled grandfather for six months, and I was fully able to measure out my food... because disabled people sit, sleep, etc. when they're not at PT, doctor's appointments or needing to be changed or bathed or worked with. Oh well. No, none of us are happy. No one likes to see someone that…

Well, if you want to lose weight, it is! At least we figured out why you can't lose :flowerforyou:
-
This. It's quite troubling.

So... despite calling food "crap" and "I don't eat that," you do eat it? I don't care if you do. I even do. I don't believe in demonizing food, especially when it comes to weight loss. The issue here is your accuracy. You said you don't eat these things, you make "good choices"... but then you just said you HAVE eaten…

No. In fact, I lost 1/2 lb this week (first time in ages, due to some undereating and thyroid issues)... beer fest this past Saturday. Legitimately most of my calories that day were from beer *cough* Enjoy yourself. Be safe. Etc. etc. I usually do a workout in the morning to keep me less anal about calories later in the…

I didn't get on your case, yet for someone who claims to not be defensive... why would you interpret my post in anyway like that? I read all your posts on here. I didn't see anywhere where you specifically got thyroid tests or asked for a blood panel. I could assume your statement that "She keeps saying it's food" means…

I feel for you, in general, OP. I've got some severe thyroid issues. I am very rigid in weighing and measuring my food. I've been in recovery from an eating disorder. I know what it's like to look in the general forums and realize I can't apply most advice to myself, because I am different. I can become very angry towards…

This is the exact opposite of what happens in our office. No one takes their own food, let alone someone else's food, so half of the fridge is full of expired yogurt and moldy salad.

Hmm, some bad advice even here. Low fat food is only necessary if someone has a medical condition, such as gallbladder issues. High fat is quite beneficial to keeping oneself satiated, bowel movements, hair, skin and nail health, etc.
-
Unless you have some sort of medical condition, cutting out sugar won't reduce belly fat anymore than just monitoring your calories. Eat at a small deficit (think TDEE-10%, or even maintenance for body recomp). Lift heavy weights. Be patient. That's pretty much it. Cardio is fine if you want it. Watching your protein is…

I'll need pictures before I offer proper advice.

For the record, MFP sets 1200 to anyone (I believe specifically female) who wants to lose 2lb a week. It doesn't take into account your height, weight, age or even if it's safe to lose 2lb a week.

Er, maybe you guys are both coming down with something?

Women's pant sizing is a bit different than dress sizes. It's a known (and often talked about issue) that many pant sizes are based on the waist size, when many women have pants that sit closer to the hips. I read somewhere pretty recently that a 27" waist should fit a size 4 according to some vague "standard" or other. I…

Weight/height won't help anyone help you. You could get someone with the exact same height and weight as you who wears a different size. Your bust, waist and hip measurements are more important for dresses. And then dress sizing can change not only from designer to designer, but from fabric to fabric. Or style. Etc. Take…

I'm legitimately bummed here. We answered you seriously, and then we all started teasing each other, not you! No one's clowning on you! I thought your follow-up responses showed you had a sense of humor!

It had "banana" and "nut" in the name... what did you think you were putting into your body?
-
Pretty wide brush you're painting everyone with. Even Christians pointed out the same thing about this story as atheists. There are atheists and theists in here crossing the line into ad hominem. Neither accounts for the whole group, especially when the only unifying thing among atheists in general is that they just don't…

Uh, I've had a few near-death experiences. Don't speak for me.
-
Er, I don't think anyone questioned your faith. I think it's apparent you have it. Nor does her being an atheist or not have anything to do with... er, anything mentioned in this thread? People questioned the authenticity of something that is impossible to prove. That can only lead to a never-ending dicussion that'll…

No he doesn't, Lent is over!

Honestly, probably because this stripped the agency of the young woman who did a good deed. How could it possibly threaten someone's atheism? People probably pointed it out (as seen in this thread, with both Christians and Atheists) that it was clearly the young woman who helped because it seemed strange to attribute the…

Um. It's probably because of a bug you're fighting, food poisoning or maybe even an unknown pregnancy. I threw up a farro salad with tomatoes and asparagus once. Was my body telling me that healthy grains, fruits and vegetables are bad? No, I got food poisoning because my aunt made the salad, and she's capable of making…

Someone citing whatever blog as proof against doctors orders is definitely eye-roll inducing. But, to be fair, most doctors aren't as expertly-versed in nutrition as people seem to think. Doctors can also be completely wrong, depending on their views, how they keep up on medical knowledge, etc. Or even just on mistakes. A…
