I wouldn't worry too much about the fat, but if you wanted to cut out a little bit of the butter you'd be fine. Maybe you could cut the butter in half for breakfast and supper. Honestly the health benefits you get from all your clean sources of food way outweigh trying to cut back on fat. Just make sure you stick to your…

Thanks for all the input yall! After looking at all the things that have been said, it seems that I will probably choose a few rewards that aren't very practical. I guess that only rewarding myself with things that I really need and was going to have to get anyway doesn't seem like much of a reward, huh? I'll figure out…

When you are losing weight your body needs a lot of protein in order to compensate for all the changes going on, and if it doesn't get the protein from your diet it WILL cannibalize the protein in your muscles. If your friend is consistently losing weight then it is very unlikely that they would be getting too much…

I just decided that I had to lose the weight and get in shape, no matter what. I have become determined that I will do this for as long as it takes to get the weight off the healthy way. With that mind set it has made things a bit more simple. Sure I don't always like the changes I make at first, but once I see how great…

Well, I think you might feel more confident in your progress if you got a new scale. I bought mine at Bed Bath and Beyond (you can register online and receive a 20% off coupon.) They have a large variety of nice digital scales, and I found one that was within my price range once I applied the 20% off. :) (Oh, and I had…

First - love your avatar! I used to love the Popples!!! Anyway, back to spaghetti squash. I love using spaghetti squash for everything that you would use regular spaghetti for. I had beef stroganoff a couple nights ago with spaghetti squash, and like it with mexican taco meat on top sometimes too. My spaghetti/marinara…

That sucks! Because of that I have researched many of the places that I might end up eating and choosing three or four different meal options that are reasonable calorie ranges, and put it into a memo on my phone. I find that these types of places find weird mysterious places to hide calories and it isn't always easy to…

I usually workout in the afternoon, so I eat a snack before I go - say 30 minutes before I head to the gym. I usually try to eat some whole wheat toast (I use Ezekial Bread) with something like hummus on it. That way I can get some good carbs into my system, and some protein as well. I second the chocolate milk as a…

Well, if you have entered all your information correctly - including lifestyle (which is very critical) and MFP has told you that you should eat 1200 calories to maintain, then my suggestion is to exercise in order to get your calorie deficit. You don't want to deprive your body of the nutrition it needs to function. The…

Yeah, this is a complete fad. One reason he had so much success is that there are a TON of us O positive blood type people running around, and since he restricts you from wheat, and a lot of other carbs, it basically became a way that a lot of people went on a low carb, and consequently lower calorie diet. Other people who…

Hmm, seems to be a lot of people eating random foods almost exclusively and losing a lot of weight. Anyway, if people would just eat the skin of the potato it would give them a bit more nutrition than the way Americans typically enjoy potatoes (skinned and mashed, or skinned and fried).

1200 calories including exercise? I think you should definitely try to eat some of your exercise calories and see if that helps you. Just a warning though, if you have been eating this low for this long you may see a weight gain for a week or two. That's what happened to me when I was under eating. After the first week…

Hi! Well first of all, Congratulations on taking the first steps in your weight loss journey! This is really an experience with a lot of ups and downs, and times where things get really slow or even seem like they are reversing. Also, the previous three weeks you had really high amounts of weight loss - 2 pounds a week is…

I have always felt that Dr. Laura was a very dangerous woman. See, most of her advice is right on - so its hard to argue with her or against her. Her attitude, tone of voice, and ability to relate to other human beings is absolutely unbearable. She yells at people who call in with serious problems. I know time is limited,…

I love water reminders!! Gonna go get another glass right now! Trickynotts - There is no reason you can't celebrate Thanksgiving. I mean, you don't have to talk about pilgrims who were giving thanks for being in the new world. I have celebrated Thanksgiving with plenty of Brits (and other nationalities as well) and its…

http://allrecipes.com/HowTo/Cheese-Sauce-Made-Easy/Detail.aspx That article tells you a lot about cooking with cheese, and making a cheese sauce. I agree with Skinnyby29 that you should add some milk and a little flour, in order for it to come out creamy and sauce like. Don't forget the butter!

@lehuagirl - Yes, I am using C25K, but kind of modified. I listed to the Ullrey podcasts in order to direct the intervals, which is very helpful. I am really happy to hear that you found so much success with it. It isn't necessarily my goal to run in 5k's I just really want to be able to run. It is something that I didn't…

Forgive yourself for past mistakes, and start fresh. Just put one foot in front of the other and enjoy a nice walk, knowing it's good for your body, not worrying about if you'll burn enough calories from it :)

Do you have access to an elliptical machine? Using that several times a week (like two or three) totally gets my ankles, knees and hips to cooperate with me for the other exercises and outdoor running I have started doing. Maybe cut back on Insanity and then try rehabilitative workouts the other days :)

Okay, well first of all, you may want to get your body fat percentage tested. If you are 160 pounds and very muscular, you may not NEED to lose any weight, or very little anyway. What makes you think you need to lose weight? Because of the number on the scale or because of fat you have? The other thing is that you may not…

Well most fruit has so much sugar it can't help but to have a lot of carbs. Apples are so good for you though, so definitely do keep them around for snack time. I'm not really watching carbs too much, just focus on getting enough of all three, so I don't always worry if one meal is heavy on the carb side compared to…

This is very good, and I mostly agree with you. I mean, personally once I realized that I was using my weight as a reason not to have good relationships, it was a logical next step to realize that each small food transgression was still a judgement against having people in my life. I realized that for me it really came…

Selamat malam! I'm glad you've found your way here! Whereabouts are you from? I've been to KL, JB, Malacca, Cameron Highlands, etc, while living in Singapore. Malaysia is a truly lovely place, and I miss all the wonderful people and food of that area of the world. Hope you enjoy using MFP :)

Wiitabax - I just rotate the ones I keep in the 6 disc changer. I really love them all, but I think Sgt Pepper and the White Album sort of take the cake. It's tough though, because it usually just depends on my mood. My car came with an amazing sound system so I enjoy listening to music on CD in it more than any on my mp3…

Yes, Saigesmommy is right - a LOT of food here doesn't have any potassium information entered for it, but the reality is that almost every food has at least a little tiny bit. I have been going in to all foods I eat and editing the nutritional information and adding the potassium value to it so that I can actually get a…

If you are following a plan that advises you to take one 1800 calorie day a week, then you should do it. To a certain extent it really doesn't have to be hard to eat that much more as far as bulk goes. Healthy fats are way higher in calories anyway, so eat an avocado and some nuts, etc. and you probably won't have…

Well, if you walk FAST then you do get a good cardio workout. Walking is great because it allows your muscles to do what they were made for, and builds your endurance. Maybe go with her to walk (FAST!) and then run on the days you aren't with her?

Do you have any fresh ginger at home? If so, cut a small piece, like the size of a quarter and boil it in some water for 15 minutes. Then pour it into a mug with a teaspoon of cinnamon and a teaspoon of honey. Then drink and repeat. All three of those ingredients are very good for your immune system. That mixture is what…

This is great!! I have been slowly easing myself into running with C25K, but I can use all the tips I can get about being a "heavy" runner. Fortunately I have a local track I can use that is made out of recycled tire rubber and is very soft. Since right now I am still going really slowly, I bought a pair of trail running…

Home made chili - 1 cup dry red kidney beans 1 cup pinto beans 1 onion, diced 1 lb ground beef 1 can stewed tomatoes 1 small can tomato sauce 1 packet of chili seasoning (All of those things can be bought at sale prices, but that should cost about 6 dollars) Soak the kidney beans for 48 hours, the pinto beans for 24 hours…
