This may not be helpful, but I alter my own clothes. If you can't do that, do you have a friend who can and you could trade her/him in another kindness? People who own sewing machines and can sew often get abused by friends who take advantage of their skills, but if you can trade something...something they want …

Keep it up girl!! You can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:flowerforyou:

Agreed, if I have a hungry day or so (and dont eat a bit extra) I stall with weight loss, but if I eat just a bit more (150 - 200 cals) I start losing weight again. This is about listening to your body! If you had not eaten substantially over, you would likely have seen weight loss...this has been true for me :flowerforyou:

Those are just guidelines, If I go over anything it is protein, and I need to to keep me sustained when I eat 1200 cals. You can actually go into your settings and manipulate the amounts. I reduced my sodium to 1800 mg as 2500 was way too much, and I never paid attention, now I pay attention when I go over sodium. I also…

I live in Canada so our stores may be different.. I would google 'running stores' in your area. We have Runners Den, Running Room, etc... but they are not all created equal and you need to connect with the right person who understands fit, gait, etc... my gf bought a $150 pair of runners that was recommended and because…

I have to agree with you, it is sometimes about adjusting what you eat, like higher protein, less carbs which let you down quickly (and hard!) Sometimes if I am super hungry, I need to listen to my body and eat a bit more...not a lot more, a bit...and it prompts me to lose. I think when you are 'starving' your body wants…

Wow, this brings me back! I agree, you dont want to by muching and disturbing everyone, so those Kashi bars sound great! Also, if you can add protein, such as almond butter as a dip for the fruit, it packs a punch and you dont need much. If you can possibly go to Costco, it is super cheap and almond butter is…

My co workers swear by this, but they are not exactly skinny mini's :grumble: It does have some common sense to it though, and is based on adding good fats to every meal and snack (what they call MUFA's). What makes more sense to me is the Medditeranean diet, which uses MUFA's as well. What are MUFAs? MUFAs (pronounced…

Great advice! More protein, less carbs, especially the ones with the high glycemic index (ie they break down to sugar then FAT faster!!!!) Google "glycemic index"...it will show you a list of foods that are not so good. Hint: the higher the number, the less bang for your calorie buck! I said less carbs, not NO CARBS...you…

I'm in! Add me  as a friend. I want to start the 30 day shred with Jillian Michaels, a pretty inexpensive DVD. I have not been well the last few days and meant to start, but would love a fitness partner for 30 days...whatdoyathink?:flowerforyou:

WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a great step!:drinker: You said some key things, you liked exercise. Run with that! (bad pun intended:noway: ) because if you can find something awesome in that your battle is less than those of us who HATE exercise...yup, I hate it. uh huh...wish I didnt... Also if you work out your body…

Well we are here for you! :flowerforyou: One overarching theme on this site seems to be awareness. I know it is true for me...my lack of awareness has let to weight gain. 40 lbs! (I am down 10 though :drinker: ) When I actually logged in calories in the food diary for choices I thought were healthy I was so shocked! Also…

What about quinoa? It is full of protein, easy to make, you can add veggies, and flavour/sauces if you like (try steaming it with fresh rosemary...YUM!) and a cup is a load of calories, but very filling! You dont want to eat too little, or weight loss will stall to nothing...not good! Of course a handful of nuts is full of…

I am 43 (almost 44) and am already down 10 from a month ago. Good luck! This is a great site!

Welcome! This is so much easier than a food journal, and you have instant support and encouragement! You have done this once, and can do it again. I work full time and had to learn to findout what was in the food I ate every day. What an eye opener! That banana loaf, that I thought was a 'better choice,' I realized I may…

Well it is more important to stay under some than others...sodium will kill ya  litterally... But protein? It fills you up and keeps you going, when I am over fiber or protein, no biggie! Mostly I eat REAL FOOD as much as possible. That means, no take out, as little processes food as possible... I eat no carbs…

It's at least 50% about the support...

Hello Pat! Welcome!!:flowerforyou: Well dear, I am 43 and was 40 lbs overweight 40 days ago, so...considering everyone tells me your metabolisms screeches to a halt at 40, it sounds like you are not so bad off :noway: Anyway...I am down 10 and this is a great site! People are awesome and encouraging and you have come to…

It isn't you!! Plateauing is normal and positive (I know, I know...) but it is. What is happening is your body is hitting a new 'set point' which is like your new 'high weight.' sometimes it takes a few weeks and then BLAMO, you will start to lose again. I know it sucks...trust me...I have been through this! It is a normal…

Well hello! I think you just wrote my life...but it wasn;'my mom...it was a law suit and a badass double renovation on our duplex that shot me off track. Also I work full time and was commuting 3 hours a day....so, I understand all the excuses of no time. There is some realtiy in it, like you said, this is a new problem…

You can get flax seed at Costco, which is great in smoothies with protein powder. Amazing meal replacement. FOr Greek yogurt, in Canada IGA, in USA, Trader Joes...

Congrats! I would love to know what 30 day shred is...:flowerforyou:

True DAT! Last night I was ravenous! I ate an apple with 1 tsp almond buitter (PB is great too, but not quite as healthy). You know what? It was enough, but in the past i would have scarfed down a huge bag of chips instead:sad: I am making much better choices now, thankfully. And yes, frequent snacks is a good thing. I…

Thanks for the reminder:flowerforyou: If we had an allergy we wouldn't mind saying so...we have to! What a greqat friend to support your lifestyle and we all need more of those!

There are so many good recipes for slushies/smoothies to make at home! You can control the calories or add protein which is a great breakfast replacement. (and easy!) I also saw The Smoothie Bible at costco, but didnt grab it quick enough and it was gone!

1200 calories as I am trying to lose another 30 lbs. Since I work and I rely on convenience food somewhat, a typical days is: Breakfast: Starbucks turkey bacon eggwhite breakfast or the spinach feta egg white wrap (280 - 320 cals) coffee with 1 tbsp light cream (28 cals) Snack: V8 (70 cals) or Sollouette Satisfaction…

That book ROCKS!!!! To add to your comment, I hate water too, but there are alternatives, pop should be avoided if you want to lose weight, even diet soda...it tricks your body and if you look around, a lot of very overweight people drink diet soda.... I am not sure it is a good substitute... there are powders you can add…

You work out? Good for you!! Yes, working out makes me hungry, but it sounds like you carb load when you get hungry...your body is probably craving protein, which will fill you up with less. The better the protein (not Mc'D's :noway: ) will work harder for you and you will be less likely to binge. Hoep that helps!
