it's very individual... I know people who have literally lost their breasts. However, when I was a size 6 i still had a D-cup. Now I'm DD. So I personally don't expect to lose too much. But: I keep telling myself that this doesn't matter. What matters is that I'm healthy. I'd rather take an A-cup and be fit than keep my DD…

If you're just starting out, go with the machines. They provide more stability and are better for safety reasons if you're not experienced in weightlifting. Free weights work more muscles and burn more calories. But don't just start out all by yourself. Get a trainer to help you in the beginning.

I've never heard of this before. But I did experience the same thing. The reason: I got more fit and was able to work out harder and therefore produced more sweat. I might have done the same workout (I did Zumba) but I did the movements in the correct way and in the right pace. But sweating is not correlated to weight - at…

What's wrong with olive oil? And sauces (obviously depends on WHICH sauces we're talking about)? Bread isn't necessarily bad either, the problem is just most people eat WAY too much bread. A couple times a week it's totally fine to me.

Just a suggestion: If you're eating a lot of processed foods, how can you be absolutely sure that the calories on the package are correct? Same with fast food etc... There is no way to tell how many calories you really had unless you prepared the meal yourself without using processed food.

All i can say about that: I've been eating clean all my life. I grew up in Europe on a farm. We grew most of our veggies and fruits ourselves, we knew where our meat comes from etc. I have never had any digestive problems ever. NOT having problems with digestion is NORMAL, by the way. Spending 15-30 minutes on the toilet…

I'm 27 and I have about 60-70 lbs to lose. I'm sending you a friend request. If anyone else would like to add me, feel free to do so :))

To those who are doing Zumba at home with games/DVDs: I did the same thing because I was too scared to go to the gym and make a fool out of myself in Zumba class. But: I finally went and LOVE it. It's so much fun. It's not about doing all movements exactly right. There is no right way. And I burn way more calories in class…

Are you a college student? If so, take advantage of what your school offers and see a dietician and maybe get a few personal trainer hours at a reduced rate. That's what I'm going to do. If you can't afford it (because still it can be expensive even at a reduced price) then try to read a lot. I read every book on healthy…

I'd suggest to bring something to eat for lunch. All the fast-food places suggested above sell highly processed food which is also high in protein (and usually - with exceptions - high in calories). I try to bring a cold lunch to work (salads, fruit, sometimes a homemade treat like a muffin, or wraps with tons of veggies…

Have you EVER in your life done Zumba? I burn 800+ calories in an hour of Zumba (according to my HRM). You jump, squat, dance, box, lunge and - oh yeah - wiggle your hips *lol* for 3-4 minutes with 30 seconds rest after that. Sometimes the instructor makes us hold our arms straight out for a whole song. At least that's…

I always go over the 25g per day because I eat fruit and dairy, but NO processed foods. I think fructose and lactose are totally fine at this point of my journey. I'm not a bodybuilder trying to get below 15% bodyfat. I am trying to be healthy and lose weight. It's way better to eat fructose and lactose than processed…

Leg cramps are almost always due to a lack of magnesium. Either eat magnesium-rich foods (bananas for example) or take a magnesium supplement. I'm taking a supplement a day and it has completely stopped my cramps (which I had even though I'm eating 4-5 portions of fruits and veggies a day).

I'm on the pill and when I started about 10yrs ago it made me gain about 15lbs. How to prevent it? Just be VERY aware that the hormones (no matter in which form... hormones are hormones... just the amount matters) make you hungry and crave food. If you're aware of it and just be extra careful in your diet I don't think it…

Hey everybody! I'm 2 years older and also have a little more to lose (around 70lbs), but I'd be happy to become MFP friends with you guys. I can use all the support I can get!

@yobhcir: How do you know when a woman has her period and when not? Do you have x-ray vision? *lol*

Also, just saying: Many people in grad school will be married, have kids and full-time jobs (or in case of a PhD program this will be their full-time job). In many grad programs there just isn't a party-culture because people have busy lives. They need to get home to their kids or get off to work. It's very high-pressure,…

I am caucasian, from Austria, Europe. In Europe, people usually think I'm Scandinavian. In the U.S., even when I tell people that I'm from Austria, some think it's a middle-Eastern country and then keep telling me how I don't look middle-Eastern at all *lol* Some think I'm from Australia because of the similar name. Well,…

I'm not going to lie either: For me there is no difference. None at all. Why would I work out less or do anything different? On the first day I might have some cramps, so I try to not work out exactly when I have them (they usually only last an hour or so). But besides that... all the same. I don't feel bigger, I don't…

How much actual food is in there? I'm talking nutrients, vitamints, minerals etc... I'm thinking next to nothing.... It's highly processed, probably full of sodium and other yucky stuff... I'd really be careful to advertise it as healthy just because it has some protein and fiber in it.

I like to bring salads and wraps as well as yogurt and fresh fruit. If you want you can look me up on pinterest (same username as here); I have a board called "recipes for school." Just fyi...

I am sorry and I hope everything is okay. One thing I can think of (not of personal experience, though) is that you're so set on eating healthy or eating less that psychologically you are "afraid" of swallowing... Do you like the taste of what you're chewing? If you like applesauce, maybe try raw apples? I've seen a person…

Feel free to add me. I'm from Austria, currently living in Miami, FL. I'm here almost every day, just getting started again. (I'm not tracking my food right now because i'm at my parents place and don't do the cooking/shopping... I'll re-start tracking once I'm back in the U.S., just fyi). Anybody else wants some support…

I've heard from people that taking a personal trainer (even if it's just for a few weeks) was the ultimate motivation and helped them getting started until they could keep doing it on their own. I'm considering getting one once I'm back at school. I'm hoping to get really individual advice and a program I could keep doing…

Hi McBully! Are you going to FIU? I live next to the UM campus. I moved here a year ago from Europe to start a grad program. I'm adding you as a friend. Hope that's okay.

I'm a grad student at the University of Miami, Florida.

We don't do this drinking thing at my school. There is some drinking at conferences, but that's it. So this might be different depending on where you're going to school and which program you're in. Don't be worried. Grad school is not college... People have matured (hopefully) and there is no peer pressure when it comes to…

Let's plan another one! Maybe in mid or late August?

Is there still anybody active in this group? Are there any gatherings/events going on? I can't find the FB group...

FINALLY! Someone explains to the people out there how it works. I've seen people (and read posts by people) who eat 1000 calories a day, burn 1000 calories through exercise and think this is the healthy way... There is so much false information out there. Thanks for this thread!
