What a random thread to bump. I mean, if you want some ridiculous thread on toxinz, you don't have to go back 3 years to get one.
-
So I'm guessing by 'not trained', you mean you haven't done 10k-focused training? Not a lot of mile repeats and such? In that case, let the bunnies go, you're not going to keep up with them anyway, and as someone else said, try to pick up the pace with each mile for a negative split.

OP states she's going to run a marathon in a year for her friend people tell OP that she likely needs more time people suggest training plans people say to manage expectations, because marathons are hard and she has no running experience Somewhere in there we ended up stealing a wheelchair from a guy. I'm not quite sure…
-
If my friend needed a wheelchair, and I had to run 100 miles to get it, there is not a thing in this world that would stop me, whether or not I was going to have the time to properly train for the distance. Sack up and do it, or don't, but don't blame the internetz if you quit before you even try.
-
Right guys, it's ALL OUR FAULT. That nice man will never have a decent wheelchair and its because OF US!!! Holy jeebus.

-
Wow. Well then. Good thing reading comprehension isn't needed to run a marathon.
-
Just to throw in my 2 cents: Can you do it in one year? Sure. Should you? Well, that will depend. My personal experience: I 'accidentally' went from 0 to marathon in a little over a year. I say 'accidentally' because I had no plans at first to run 26.2, I just wanted to tighten things up a bit. I came from a track…

Yikes, you're only eating 800 calories a day? yeah, no wonder. You're not going to be able to fuel much of a run with that. I looked at your profile, with only 20 or so pounds to lose, you should really be eating more. It doesn't matter if you're eating all carbs, on that low of an intake, you're just not going to have…
-
I don't know how 'low calories' your 'low calorie' is, but that could definitely make running more challenging. I would try to supplement on the days leading up to the race with extra sources of carbs/glycogen (apples, bananas, toast in the morning), and then eat what you are used to before the race. Its very difficult to…
-
Sounds like an overall nutrition issue. Usually, a runner won't have to think about special nutritional need for a distance up to a half marathon. What is your intake like? If you opened your diary, I could give more specific advice, but here's some general stuff: I wouldn't suggest eating anything different before your…

Is that the girl who banited the half? Ugh, she was the worst.

Not lame, if you can find them. If its a big race they are usually whisked away to the elite tent after. I once had a bunch of olympic hopefuls show up to a local 5k/10k I was running. I was shameless in the picture-taking.

1) don't try anything new on race day 2) don't line up near the front 3) don't try anything new on race day Good luck! And for more details, this thread is good www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/279198-running-tip-so-you-are-about-to-do-your-first-race

I don't even know what's going on here anymore. For the record, when I see an overweight person eating french fries, I think "man, i want some french fries".
-
so...No, then?

Generally, active recovery is best. I try to be up and moving by Tuesday (even a walk is ok). I won't do anything strenuous for at least a week. The first few days are always very slow recovery jogs, and extensive foam rolling. You might feel ok by Friday, but then you will start to jog and realize that your body is very…

eh, 2/10. Would not read again. Solid attempt though PS- your profile says you are 64, you might want to change that inconsistency if you want to troll on.
-
Yup. This. For reference, when I'm not training, I tend to maintain around 30 miles a week in 4 days running (one easy, one longer, one speedier, one hillier). I mix it up with more trails, or whatever seems fun (though trail running led to ultras, which is the opposite of 'not training' - its a slippery slope:laugh: ).…

well then /thread eta: it actually gets funnier every time I read it.

That is definitely not my intent, and that is the problem I have. So much of this discussion is projection. You tell me not to assume, then make a huge assumption about the intent of others' words. There is a difference between someone saying "I'm chill" when asked how they are doing, and seeing a girl drunkenly scream…

I think we all know it exists, as distasteful as we find it to be. However, my problem is when that existence gets extrapolated into motive, and applied to all. I want my family members to lose weight, not because their attitudes challenge my notions of beauty, and that challenge scares me, but because they can't walk up a…

So many conversations, but one thing really jumped out at me: Some people here (a shocking amount, actually) seem to agree that if they are overweight and still like themselves, that this position somehow angers and scares others. It does not. I'm sure it is an affront to someone out there, but c'mon, the majority of…

You know what everyone's resumes are like? Weird. Its not even remotely possible that somewhere, in the field of all applicants, someone might have more experience/better qualifications than you? Also, even if all of this stuff is due solely to your weight and not anything else, why do you think it excuses the bullying of…

I will ponder all of this while doing my 10 minute mini-trampoline workout. I was going to do 15 minutes, but I don't want to get too huge.

Really just here for the popcorn and lulz, I don't have a dog in this fight, but a quick google image search said your first pics were pretty generic as well.

Muscle retains water for repair after strenuous activity. Don't sweat it.

It could be a few things The toe box on your shoes might be too tight You might need to go up a size in shoes to accommodate swelling (I normally wear a 9, but do a 10 or 10.5 in running shoes) You could try 'ladder lacing' instead of regular lacing to reduce pressure on the top of your foot You could be running a lot of…
