I try to get to know people at my gym to make the workouts a little more enjoyable and to give me something to look forward to. When I did classes, I showed up early and let the teacher know I was a noob. I talked to the teacher before and after class. Cardio is a little trickier but you could try catching people before or…

I'm a soon to be 49 year old metal head with bad hearing that's read the Old and New Testament as well as other books about religion. karabobarra, my 12 year old son is a second degree black belt in ninjutsu. He's been doing it for 6 years and he's trained with at least nine different weapons. The dojo awards swords when…

manda I feel for you, especially the 2 broken right wrists. If you have good medical coverage, you may want to work with a physical therapist.

I didn't know we were talking Romanian Deads either. I do Romanian Deads all the time as a hamstring exercise. I don't start them from the floor, I start from a waist high rack. I lower the bar to about the middle of my shins and I let me knees bend, keeping the bar close to my legs. I exagerate the top part of the lift,…

When deadlifting, really focus on the legs. Get up close to the bar and get your butt as low as possible. To complete the lift drive up thru the legs. Focusing your eyes on an object high up will help keep your back straight thru out the lift. Are you doing high reps or low reps? High reps and fatigue often lead to lower…

The answer depends on the objectives. Raw vegetables are pretty low in calories so maybe they could be skipped. I wouldn't feel like I cheated if I had some extra broccoli or celery on a given day. As others have mentioned, fruits have more calories and sugar so they should be counted. Personally, I want to know how I'm…

You can do swimming as your primary exercise, but I would also include at least some walking. My grandfather almost made the Olympics as a swimmer and he swore by swimming but he'd complain after walking 100 feet.

In addition to this, I don't like it when I get Christmas cards of just the kids. I want to see my friends on the card too.

The closest thing I can think of would be the moving furniture option or possibly basketball. If you want a better idea, you'll need a heart monitor. Bigger meals thru out the day would be better than one large meal at the end unless you're the type who doesn't like working with a lot of food in their stomachs. If that's…

Hi Vixx, I should have noticed your protein setting before. It looks like you have your macros set to 40% protein, 25% fat and 35% carbs. I would recommend dialing the protein back to 25-30%. The fat can stay at 25 or go up to 30 and make the rest carbs. I have mine at 30% protein, 30% fat and 40% carbs. As far as taste,…

Hi Vixx, what brand did you use before? What was the issue? Poor taste, trouble mixing, digestion? If it's digestion, check the ingredients. Some protein powders add soy protein because it's a cheaper ingredient. Soy can be difficult to digest. Optimum Gold is really good. It costs about $60 U.S. for a 5 pound tub. I use…

With the type of work you do, you probably see some pretty awful things. Maybe something that you saw or recently dealt with is working on your psyche and you need to talk to someone about it. Some healthy snacks at your desk may help prevent bingeing after work. I'm sure you've heard it before, but exercise is a great way…

Anytime I eat out, is usually a bad sodium day. I'm making the effort to eat at home more often. Potassium is just as important as Sodium. Potassium should be equal to sodium or greater for good health. The latest USDA recommendation is 4700 mg of potassium per day. Unfortunatly, that number is not published on food labels…

You are totally right and an awesome person. Thank you for posting and I wish you good health.

You can add me and see me eat the same breakfast and lunch every day. I also consume 160-240 grams of protein if you'd like to see what that looks like.

Great post and great job! I have a co-worker who also lost 110 pounds and has kept it off for some time now. She tracks her food with her own diary and I believe she pre logs her meals like you do. I'm curious about how much of your function were you able to get back thru therapy and weight loss. I also have high blood…

#11 runningtall because you look really happy in that picture, but your legs look great in #10.

I thought I was riding thru the moe-jave(rhyme with dave) desert on the way to California. My Pops still likes to tell that one 34 years later. Heavy 10 year old Georgia accent, "Look, we're in the moe-jave desert!"

Be sure to shop at the most affordable place. Your friend is definitely charging you too much. If you have Costco, their protein is a decent option. If you don't mind mail order, bodybuilding.com or nutritionexpress.com are good choices. Amazon also has protein. A 5 pound tub of protein will cost enough to get the free…

I had to read all of these to make sure I wasn't guilty of any of these. The only one mentioned was practice swings in between reps. I play baseball and softball and yes I practice my swing sometimes. I usually grab a small bar so I'm not empty handed. I did a leg workout including squats in dress shoes because I forgot my…

Eating some nuts during the day should help with the hunger and would also give you some more sodium, if you choose salted nuts. You're getting lots of fruits and vegetables, which is great, but they probably get digested pretty quickly. If it doesn't mess with the taste, you might also be able to add some coconut oil to…

I have a coworker who dropped 110 pounds and has kept it off for over 6 years. I asked her what she does when she gets hungry. She basically said she got used to being hungry. I've never seen her eat any cheat foods and she's in a marketing department that loves to eat. I'm pretty sure she keeps a food diary and plans her…

The small ice cream treats at McDonald's are tasty and have less calories.

I have a few of the wii exercise programs and I wrote a blog about my experience with them. If you're working out at home, they can be fun and improve your health.
-
If you want to dance with weight while doing wii exercises, you can get wrist or ankle weights. There's also a weighted glove accessory for the EA Active game. One of the gloves has a pocket for the wii controller.

Terrific loss!

I've been learned English real good.

I never thought of that and I'm an obsessive stat geek. The daily MFP reports can be downloaded into Excel. The Excel file could be uploaded into Access to create a personal database.

Excellent first post! Congratulations on overcoming your eating disorder, eating healthy and losing weight. I hope you stick with what you're doing and keep posting.

Your plan is very reasonable, especially if you like it and it fits your lifestyle. You're right there are a ton of opinions out there. You have to figure out what works for you and try to filter out the noise. You can do the same workouts as long as you like if you're goal is maintenance and losing weight. If you get…
