Hey, we're not looking at this to be an Olympic time trial...I have a feeling if enough of us show up, it will be a nice, leisurely jog with a lot of blabbing happening. I'll probably even trip once or twice. Plus, if you can get a 5k under your belt now, how awesome will you feel?!

I have some New Balance cross-trainers...I would never dream of doing this barefoot. There definitely needs to be some support for both the ankles and knees.

How many days at what distance are you running? Are you following a running plan, or just going out for a run? How old are your shoes? Did you get them from a store that specializes in running shoes? Do you have inserts?

sorry, I know that came across as confusing about running/walking...it's been a long day and my brain couldn't find a better way to ask if you had been varying your pace. I didn't look at a ton of your diary, but it seemed to look good to me. Eating on the road is definitely a struggle, and you'll see your sodium go over.…

Did you set up the HRM for your age and weight? It seems reasonable as I would burn the same amount running longer, but weighing less than you...how fast were you going? Running/walking/intervals?

I did not run the whole way. My running partner (who was wayyy more experience than I was) used/uses the Galloway method, which is a run/walk method. We started with a 9:1 (minute) ratio and after mile 10 went to a 4:2 ratio. If you find a good training plan, and stick to it...YOU WILL BE FINE! Just remember, you will have…

Thank you for sharing every single word of this...you are proof that so many others can get to where you are (and where you are going), but you're also showing that this journey is not without speed bumps and detours.
