One thing that stood out to me is that you calculate your activity level to be 'moderate' because of your exercie. Do you then log your exercise as well? That may be something to consider if you are doing that. Since I am a desk jockey 9-5, I set my activity level to 'sedentary' since I do sit most of the day and then I…

Double-grilled chicken chopped salad from Subway. I think it's about 300 calories and 40ish grams of protein with lots of veggies. I usually get mine with vinegar to avoid the dressing and some pepper.

I found that if I take two days off per week, it works better for me. By taking the day 'off' I don't mean I don't do anything, but I take my dogs for a long walk or I try to do something outside of the gym that isn't standard 'cardio' as we all think about it. Have your sleeping patterns changed at all? Some studies have…

I wear New Balance cross-trainers. I find that they do have better balance than a running shoe or other types of shoes for weightlifting. I think if you wear a running shoe that places more emphasis on the balls of your feet, then that may throw you off a bit, but that is just a personal opinion, no science to back this…

I add in one or two cans of black beans too. Good complex carbs, fiber, and some additional vegetable proteins to help me feel full and add to the meal with more than just chicken and salsa.

I use dymatize gourmet protein which is about $0.80/serving. I usually use two scoops when I drink, so it's 42 grams of protein for about $1.50 when I mix with water. I don't go the 'meal replacement' route with drinks, I would rather eat real food than a meal replacement or a protein bar to have the act of chewing. I use…

First off, as a lifelong Jack drinker myself, I do Jack on the rocks with some water and cherry, perfect drink to me because I can nurse it, feel a decent buzz off two and I haven't consumed a lot of calories. Second, the most polite thing to say when people offer you something you don't/shouldn't eat a simple "no thank…

This is great, I'm going to try this one at my company party this year.

The Promax and Promax LS (lower sugar) bars are great. The lower sugar bars have 18 g of protein and 14 (yes, 14) grams of fiber per bar. Be cautious if you are sensitive to gas from too much fiber. Also, ISS Research OhYeah! bars are phenomenal. They taste like real candy bars.

Ice cold baths work for me. It's painful, but all you have to do is run cold water into your tub and sit there as long as you can handle. The theory is that by cooling down your extremities that quick, that when you get out the warm rush of blood from the rest of your body will help relieve the pain. Seems to work for a…

You could always challenge your body in other ways by trying new exercises if you are bored without worrying about adding more muscle.

We have the Ninja, works well, but I'm not super-picky about my drinks. My wife is pretty picky and seems to like it.

My wife and I had about 50ish people at our wedding. It did make for a more enjoyable experience because of your "duties" to go around and talk to everyone during the reception. The small intimate wedding allowed us to go on our dream honeymoon of two weeks in Alaska, so I am all for splurging on the experience with the…

Here are my rules: If you are "sick" above the neck (i.e., sinuses, etc.) I say workout because it often makes me feel better and helps clear things up. If you are "sick" below the neck, take time off as you need to recover.

Click on the "My Home" tab and below that will say "Goals", click that. At the bottom of the page is a green button "Change Goals" and do the "Custom/Manual" change, you can change anything you want in there. Good luck.

Could you invite other friends/colleagues over to your house to work out with you? Maybe that would help with the loneliness. Kudos on staying motivated to work out at home. I have found that my motivation goes through the floor if I try to work out at home compared to a gym. While I don't talk to anyone at the gym, I like…

I would first look at your fiber intake and if that has gone up dramatically compared to what you use to eat, that often causes discomfort and bloating. Second, with an increase in fiber, you need to make sure you drink enough water during the day to help flush the system.

first off, congrats on the weight loss and thinking about lifting. My best advice to a novice lifter is get a trainer. It may seem expensive, but a good trainer will teach you form and help develop a good routine for you to start with and may be someone you work with in the future as your needs change. Lifting will…

Also, don't focus on exercise as strictly a numbers game. I think of it as good stress relief, revving your metabolism, making your heart and lungs a litlte stronger, etc. Even if you eat back every calorie you expended exercising, the exercise still did you a benefit.

They did forget to factor in the fact that many of us eat Thanksgiving 'dinner' early in the day, so therefore the propensity for leftovers later in the day/evening is higher and I question the serving sizes on a lot of the calculations. Half a cup of mashed potatoes? One dinner roll? Plus, the author didn't give calories…

If you go under "Cardiovascular Activity" and type in "strength training", you will find results. I question how accurate it may be because two people can say they lifted for an hour with one doing 10 sets and another doing 30 sets, so I normally enter one minute for each set of muscle training that I do.

Where is your source on this? I would be curious to read this.

I usually download a few new songs to keep me motivated.

Always opt for veggies/sweet potatos whenever possible instead of fries, etc. Ask for all condiments on the side such as dressings, butter for potatoes, etc.. Ask for your steak to be cooked "plain" "i.e., not with butter as every place does" When your server brings your food automatically ask for a to go box, split…

"It's Tricky" by Run DMC "Down with the Sicness" by Disturbed (in fact, almost anything by Disturbed is good workout music for me) Most anything by Godsmack 50 Cent "Remember the Name" by Fort Minor "It's Goin' Down" by The X-ecutioners Sometimes I Google lists and search those lists as well if I need something new.

Muscle Milk... good variety of flavors and tastes like an f-ing milkshake when mixed properly.

Keep trying different variations until you find what works best for you. It took a few weeks of me doing one thing for a few days then switching to something else to find out that before I work out, I function best with some carbs and protein in my system about an hour before I workout to keep me from feeling nausous.

Way to to there Rocky!

If your goal is weight loss, calories in vs. calories out for the day is all you need to worry about. I've always found my body responds best to any workout (cardio or weights) if I have a protein shake with some complex carbs about an hour or so before. Maybe try half the protein shake and half the banana before and the…

In my opinion, a few of the better tasting types are Dymatize protein, Optimum Nutrition, and Muscle Milk. You can usually order smaller serving sizes (i.e., 10 servings) online at websites such as bodybuilding.com or dpsnutrition.com to see which ones you like better. Me personally, anything with chocolate is usually…
