I had issue with this as well. I found that very controlled breathing (particularly on the exhale) is helpful when timed with step. I inhale 4 steps, pause 1 step, exhale 3 steps. I can't even remember what I was doing before then - maybe just trying to survive? lol

You look wonderful!! I'm shaped much like you and started 30DS this a.m.; you're quite the inspiration - thank you!

Aww, yay! I'm so glad her story is getting around - people here in SC weren't as impressed, unfortunately. She's a great inspiration!! Edited to provide story link minus annoying guy: http://www.live5news.com/story/19455273/traffic-ticket-inspires-summerville-woman-to-lose-weight

That dish looks like it's full of win!

Thank you for both posts, this is great information to use & to share!

only for dinner; lunch on Saturday will be a German feast.

Thanks! I knew enough to say hell no to dining at the Schnitzel Shack tonight! We're traveling for the race so I won't be able to do my "norm" which isn't anything, really. Thanks, Achojnacki for your ideas; everything on the menu looks pretty nom but the salmon sounds like a great choice!

"The only B-word you should ever call a girl is "beautiful".. b*tches love that..." *edited to censor my own self :)

Thanks for this! I tried the Refrigerator Oatmeal recipe three different ways and it was awful each time (full disclosure: once the milk was rancid and I didn't notice). Plus oatmeal is just weird when it's cold... Now the remaining steel cut oats will be eaten; again, thanks so much!! Edited to clarify: *and I didn't…

bahahah! I was wondering if those were real crazy eyes ;) You look absolutely fabulous, girl!! Way to go!

This morning my son wanted to know why I wasn't taking him to school (dad was); for the first time my answer was "I need my 'me' time!" and was referring to more than waxing my upper lip or painting my toenails. I've been really enjoying my morning runs but will have to adjust my "me" time to evening runs when old man…

I thought you were going to write "Guns don't kill people, no way. I kill people. With guns." Ohhh, Jon Lajoie; my hero. http://youtu.be/xC03hmS1Brk

oh gosh, I hope this doesn't turn into a "pitbulls are sooooo misunderstood" post. My boss has been attacked several times by dogs (three different breeds) and just recently the news reported about a pack of wild dogs on a nearby island - a scary thought if for instance you're a mother pushing a stroller, or well, just…

Same here; I can resist Donut Fridays but resisting fancy homemade stuffs?? Count me in for a piece/slice; afterall, someone put in allll that hard work! I just call them the devil under my breath  , log it and move on. [Oh, and note the 'winky face' after the devil comment, that was me being silly]

GREAT JOB!! You'll need this confidence boost when things, even back at interval pace, get tough next week! This morning during my two 10 minute runs I kept thinking "girl, you ran for 20 minutes, quit talking yourself out of this!" Good luck, chick!

I don't know what to tell you about shin splints but to track my cardio done with C25K, I downloaded the free app JogTracker (& more recently Endomondo). Assuming you have a phone with GPS capabilities, either of these apps helps because at the end of your session the app will tell you your average speed and time (along…

that is absolutely fantastic!!! GREAT WORK!!!

I'm running this weekend in Pooler, GA to benefit the Warrior Transition Unit at Fort Stewart. I only started week 6 last night but thought I'd just slide right into week 7 during the 5k! Good luck, everyone & HAVE FUN!!
-
I've found that little victories like that (whether intended or not!) really, really help out during the tough "long" runs. The 20 minute run they throw in on day 3 of week 5 I am convinced is so that when you're doing w6d1 you don't give up: "if I can run for 20 minutes straight, I can absolutely finish this!" A little…

uh, that's why I'm doing it!! Seeing all these hot MFP people that have completed - or are starting round 2 of - 30DS is enough for me to proverbially jump off the bridge!
-
HAHAhah!! That is so fantastic!!!
-
FANTASTIC!! And I hope you have this victory over and over a million times!
-
You're doing great; keep it up!!

I never think the next week is possible but we always make it through, right? I also double my weeks to make sure I'm mentally and physically ready for the next challenge. I finished W5D3 this morning and I absolutely couldn't believe it; I wanted to shout to the world "I RAN FOR 20 MINUTES & DIDN'T STOP!!" lol Instead of…

My list consists of mostly Foo Fighters & Kings of Leon sprinkled with some Pearl Jam, Queens of the Stone Age, Coldplay and some current top 40 stuff (LOVING Feel So Close by Calvin Harris!!)

awwww, but i used a winky face, didn't that elude to my being kinda sorta jokey? ...it should have. I certainly want to look good for myself, but a big motivator, too, is knowing that my future spouse is proud of his confident woman.

holy hell we could be twinsies. I'm learning to run and am starting 30DS Sept 10 (have a 5k on the 8th that I don't want to be "ruined" for!) Also, I'm 5'10 & 166 (highest weight was 208), trying to get down to 150. Our body types are mega similar but you rock the 160's waaay better than I do!! Great job!

Thanks y'all!! Life does feel good when you can move it, move it ;)
