  • i have my PT cert thru ACE and they have a very in depth study program but honestly, what i learned about PT did not come from that book. lifting is my life. i learned most from my husband who is a prof powerlifter and lives the life as well. in my opinion, you need both book and experience in order to be a great personal…
  • As a Zumba instructor i tend to burn more cals teaching a class rather taking a class taught by someone else because i know every move that is coming up and i can give 110% to my workouts. when i take another class i don't get the same workout or burn as many cals because i dont know the choreography like i do my own. same…

  • you need variety. keep changing up your cardio, add weight training and interval workouts. cardio will shape and thin and weights will define them. a right combo of everything will give you the look you want and you can always change the look if not satisfied. i have very strong legs (leg press over 700 pounds) but yet im…
  • you're beautiful! congratulations and keep up the wonderful work!
  • I just read a book called Body Confidence by Mark Macdonald from Venice Nutrition. it explains it in detail of why your body craves food. your (our) blood sugars levels drop causing your body to crave. he explains how to maintain blood sugar levels at every meal, even up until you go to bed. he also explains how to correct…
  • i lived the same situation...still living it....6 yrs ago i dropped down to 1200 cals a day and lost wt. i've been teaching aerobics for 14 yrs and heavy wt training the last 6...and was bulimic for 20 years...clean the last 6 since i started tracking my foods daily. now with that backgroud being said....i hit a wall 3-4…
  • hello! i use tabata in my aerobic classes also. luv it! i've done sets of delt work in one rotation...shoulder press, lateral raise, front delts and upright row with small wts....i'll so the same with bis and tris....skater slides, single leg lunge, push ups, ab work (crunch, bike, leg lifts).....basically any type of…
  • as mentioned above, cardio to shred the fat so you can see what muscle you have......cycling is a great exercise for cardio as well as building mucle in the legs and glutes. if you take an indoor cycling class, make sure you work your legs correctly, getting a full leg routine with each pedal. imagine your feet going…
  • i go to a 2nd hand store every time i drop some wt and save my $ for when i hit my goal and really go shopping!! plus shopping at the 2nd had allows me to try diff name brand clothes. i bring home, wash then try them on. if the dont fit right, im only out $2-$3. i donate old clothes (bigger ones) to my local goodwill. it's…
  • i am a cycling instructor and i highly recommend it!! cycling is my favorite class to teach because you can really zone out and focus on your workout. there is a difference between cycling and spinning instructors so depending on the type of instr, you will get a diff ride/workout. certified spinning instrs have been…
  • it got my attention!
  • yes! it is for me! i took my 1st aerobic class 14 years ago, started teaching shortly after that, met my husband there, we bought the gym where i taught at, our son lifts with us, my dad works out there (been playing racquetball for over 50 years, it's in my blood) my best friends are gym rats......i'd say there is some…
  • you guys are great! i want to hear more......this is a great learning tool for those of us who teach. i've been teaching group fitness for 14 years and still to this day evaluate my classes as if a person comes in for the 1st time. some don't and that gives a bad taste to someone new to the group fitness world. i agree…
  • we were there! my husband is one of the Animpak guys (Universal Nutrition). we were there haning in the cage with the rest of the big boys. it's pretty cool to see the big time athletes that you see on Oxygen mag and many others! muscles, muscles, muscles, tans n big fake boobs are all u see. crazy place! luv it there!
  • i do the same.....i eat 12 eggs a day...10 whites, 2 whole eggs. yokes go down the drain
  • cardio! you can strengthen your abs as much as you want but won't "see" the results until you lose the fat surrounding them. clean eating and cardio will help reduce.
  • haha, yes i am! my husband and son are into powerlifting and so am i. i absolutely love hitting it hard! my guys qualified for the World championships last year, i want to join them this year!
  • i'm not, i can't stand to look at her or hear her name....
  • myth or no myth....as for my body, i have learned that a low cal diet of 1100-1200 for the last 5 years has hurt me more than helped me. i've been teaching aerobics (14 yrs) and lifting heavy (5 yrs) at that intake and hit a wall 3 years ago. my weight hasn't changed much....certainly didn't drop. i started eating around…
  • Wow! that would explain why Kim Lyons left the show. i often wondered why she stopped training contestants on that show. very interesting!
  • i hope this makes you feel a little better about attending your 1st class and feeling silly. i've been doing this over 14 years and love to attend other instructors classes when i can. since every instructor has their own choreography and own style i have no idea what the routines are when i take another class. i stumble…
  • Go for it and have some fun! as a Zumba Instructor i always welcome everyone before class starts and let them know that there are no rules to Zumba. if we're shaking to the right and you're shaking to the left, it doesn't matter as long as you are moving and having fun! i have new ppl in my classes every week of all sizes,…
  • Blue diamond unsweetened is my fav. tried it a year ago with my Body By Vi shakes and fell in love with it! i use it in my prot shakes too. add some ice, prot powder n milk.....oh what a great alternative to a great tasting milkshake! i switch between it and fat free milk......
  • thank u!
  • keep up the good work girlies!!!!!!!!!!!
  • i workout 5-6 days a week hard, soaking wet hard. i wash my hair 2-3 times a week with shampoo & conditioner and in between just use conditioner only. some days i put my hair up to shower only. my hair was really dry and brittle when i washed everyday. my hair looks best day after working out and not washing it.
  • I love it! I use it in my aerobic classes every week and the ppl that take my classes love it too. There is so much variety with this type of training! I never get bored with it because you can do so many diff combos and hit every muscle group. I always did some type of interval training but funny..... this one has a…
  • as a gym owner, i've seen it all! the ones that personally get me irritated are: -people that used our place as a meat market. we were a hard core, serious athletes only type of gym. aerobics (group fitness) & power lifting were our backbone. we were not your average "fluff" gym so leave the makeup, thongs and push up bras…
  • In general....i'd recommend a powerlifting routine with high weight and low reps, 3 sets each exercise. without knowing you or your fitness level it's hard to give you specifics. i love having strong legs! im only 4'11" and it may not be my "best look" but for riding horses and teaching fitness classes i tend to lean on…
