  • I just set my diary up for IIFYM this morning. I am doing the 40/30/30 split. The one thing I think I am going to have trouble with is finding the right foods to eat. It seems like it will take far more pre-planning than simple CICO. If I am already at the limit for fat, but not even close on protein, I have to find some…
  • As indicated, the sugar helps the yeast to make the dough rise. You could try activating the yeast in warm milk instead of the water as the lactose, which is a form of sugar, will help the yeast. Though I have never had success with activating yeast in milk. Not sure if I get it too hot or what it is.
  • With only 17lbs to lose total, 10lbs in two weeks is very unrealistic. Think six months. Sure someone could easily lose 10lbs very quickly, but most of it will be water weight and it will come right back as soon as you revert back to the foods you ate previously. It isn't actual fat loss. Most of the foods you are eating…
  • I agree, don't bother logging. You won't be able to figure out accurate calorie counts anyway. Take the stairs and avoid the feed trough (buffet).
  • After 10 days. There is also a level 3 that you start on day 21.

  • You wouldn't have looked so bad in the before photo if you weren't wearing such a tight shirt. Congrats BTW
  • I find it odd of people not wanting to go back to a restaurant or other establishment because of a single bad occurrence. You usually get a different waiter every visit and if you go to one location and then another, the kitchen staff is completely different. You can have one bad meal today and a great one tomorrow. Don't…
  • Made Eggs Benedict for the first time yesterday. Fantastic! I like eggs just about any way; scrambled, poached, hard boiled, sunny side up. The only way I have not made them is soft boiled.
  • I don't think you can drink too much water, unless you are perhaps running a marathon where you lose a lot sodium in your body due to perspiration. This can cause a dangerous condition called Hyponatremia. Though through normal day to day activities, it would be hard to drink too much. Drink what satisfies you.
  • Same here. Day after a big cheat or carb day I gain at least 4lbs.
  • The only Easter specific candy I have had this year are some Peeps, which I am not a real big fan of and Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs. The mini ones and the full size ones. At 170 calories, the full size ones are whoppers, but they sure are good. I haven't had a Cadbury Easter Creme Egg in a long time.
  • Less garbage in = less garbage out.
  • The reason for the 1.33 is because it seems that you over portioned by one third when you ate 9 servings when it should have been 12. The 1.33 takes care of that mistake in your diary.
  • I have started using a food scale for ice cream. Always just used to eyeball it. Weighing proved that my servings were too large when eyeballing it. The serving size on the container may say 1/2 cup (65g). Weigh to the gram when it comes to calorie rich foods like ice cream. Going over by 20 grams can make a difference on…
  • I have been doing Slimfast since January 2012. We stock up on the shakes in January when the big coupons and sales come out for all the weight loss products. I am not strict on them and they are really there for a quick breakfast. I wouldn't really follow their 3-2-1 Plan. Just use them in conjunction with this site ad a…
  • It will ask you to recalculate when you have lost 10lbs since the last time it was calculated.
  • If in doubt, weigh before cooking.
  • OMG, you are my hero. This will save us much time!
  • I am not aware of a method to do this, though it would be great. My wife an I have the same issue. I might suggest that you post about this in the Website Suggestions/Feedback message board.
  • I recently bought the Oster - 6.1-Quart Double-Tiered Steamer from Best Buy. They have is on sale right now for $31.99 (regular $39.99). Used it for the first time tonight to steam some baby carrots. They turned out great. Looking forward to trying it out on other veggies.
  • From the Sunday before Christmas to the Thursday after (yesterday), the scale showed I had gained 8lbs. I have had similar things happen when I went on vacations for two weeks. One vacation a 14lb+ gain over two weeks and another 16lb+ gain over a two week period. Very little of that is actual fat or muscle gain. Mostly…
  • I have found when I sleep in on weekends (usually an extra couple hours or more), I weigh less. When I get up early on Monday, my weight is more than it was when I slept in on Sunday. I chalk this up to more time sleeping=more time breathing out moisture/water which results in lower weight on days I sleep in and weigh…
  • For me, it was using the fitness profile on MFP and counting and logging daily in my MFP journal. Would probably be further ahead, but went on two 2 week vacations where I gained back close to 15lbs on each trip (mostly water weight), but still set me back a couple weeks to a month each time.
  • I read an article (either through a link on here or somewhere else) about a study that concluded that walking at a 3% incline on a treadmill is the equivalent to walking outdoors.
  • I actually prefer the 28g or 1oz items. Case in point, chips. 13 chips is an oz? what size are each chip? Much easier to weigh?
  • Taking a cruise will kill the MFP login streak. Internet access on a cruise is very expensive.
  • Your weekly weight loss goal is too aggressive. I found this chart posted here. It is a good guide to use to set your weekly weight loss target. Using this will change the number of calories you will consume each day. If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal, If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal, If…
  • You really need to set this based on how many pounds you have to lose total. If you only have 15 to lose, you should aim for 1/2lb per week. However if your goal is a lot, like 75 or 100, then you can better aim for 2lbs per week. Here is a good guide that I have seen posted on here If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week…
  • It might be possible if you have 100lbs to lose total, but if your ultimate goal is only 40lbs, it likely isn't going to happen. Better to aim for 20 which is more realistic, but still a stretch.
