Thanks for this. That right there is great motivation!

Same. I am three weeks out from my next marathon, which may explain why I am a little burnt out. But I also did not really set a goal for this race, so I have been doing the planned training runs, but without any real gusto and now that the race is approaching I just kind of feel like "meh". I purposefully decided to not…

How could you, with that face???

I agree with what has already been said regarding current fitness level and more not always being better. I sometimes do two workouts in a day (running in the AM and lifting in the evening), but I do this so that I can have easy recovery days where I do a very light workout or complete rest. Recovery is extremely…

Can't emphasize enough the importance of starting in the proper corral. If you line up in a faster corral, you risk getting bumped into and trampled, not to mention causing grief for other runners that might be trying to PR. If you line up in a slower corral, you will no doubt be frustrated trying to get around walkers and…

Wow. Ok, I am not saying this to be mean, but to honest and hopefully, helpful. If you are expecting to see a noticeable difference in your weight from one 10K walk, then you need to seriously re-evaluate your expectations and your plan here. Weight loss not only takes time and patience, but it also takes a bit of faith.…

Looks like he might have picked up a stray Dalmatian?

This is so true! Only I can't figure out which mode I am in right now :*

I had some stubborn tomatoes in my garden that would not ripen so last night we went all Southern: Smoked pork chops, fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese spread and grilled corn on the cob. So yummy!

They are adorable!

OMG, doggie heaven! I can only imagine what it must have sounded like in there!

Hot sandwich melts (cheesesteaks, yum!) and hash with potatoes and eggs are always my go-tos for left over beef. Heat the meat in a skillet with some water or broth to keep it from drying out.

@PaulChasinDreams - During the summer I make a similar blend of fresh veggies using the veggies and fresh basil from my garden. I like to add fresh (or sometimes frozen) corn in with the zucchini and tomatoes. It gives it an nice sweetness an crunch.

I imagine that must have been quite the ice cream sandwich for you to say so because you eat some of the most delicious looking things on this thread! I love carrot cake and ice cream sandwiches, so I am definitely drooling over here!

I always drink a sugar free Red Bull before a race. Not sure why, but I did it once and had a great race, so I stuck with it. Funny thing is, this is the only time I drink them. I am not saying that it's a good idea (it very well may be a bad idea), but it's what I do.

I usually have the opposite problem. Things I make that tend to be high in fat and protein and lower in carbs include Cobb salads, chef's salads, Tuna Nicoise salads, omelets and fritatas, soups and chilis (add avocado and cheese for fat), tzatzki chicken bowls (https://www.skinnytaste.com/chicken-tzatziki-bowls/), beef…

Same here. I run 5 days per week and lift twice per week. I take every Monday and Friday as a rest day, where I do neither. However, I always walk my dog and may also do a yoga video or some for of stretching. I usually still get 10K+ steps in, but I consider it a rest day because I haven't done anything too strenuous and…

Do you do the program every day? If so, the program is probably designed this way to make this an easy day or rest day. If you decide to replace it with something else, I would be cautious not to make it any more intense than this video is. If you are interested in burning calories, then go for a long walk. Rest days are…

I had a stress fracture in my metatarsal a few years back. It hurt to walk and running wasn't even a possibility. After spending 6 weeks in a boot, my podiatrist recommended that I use OTC orthotics in my shoes. She gave me the Pro Step brand and I have been using them ever since. If I try to run without them, I experience…

Beautiful!

Either way, it looks delicious!

Just returning from vacation and checking in with this thread. I did not do too bad on vacation thanks to lots of fresh seafood. There was also lots of ice cream, but hey, it was vacation after all. And I stayed pretty active all week so I actually dropped a pound while I was gone. We go to Isle of Palms in South Carolina…

I can't do 3 chin ups, but I can run 20 miles before breakfast. Just sayin.. But to your point, I agree that it depends on your training. Some people spend a ton of time at the gym or working out in general and don't make much progress because they do not challenge themselves. The more you push your limits (and adequately…

I make a salad with bibb lettuce, sliced pears, blue cheese, pecans and diced avocado. I make the dressing with EVOO, red wine vinegar, dijon mustard, honey (or sugar), salt and pepper. Its so delicious!

@cburke8909- Congrats on meeting your 5K goal!! I think you are my running twin. If I remember right, didn't you recently run a half marathon PR in just under 1:40? (sorry if I have you confused with someone else) My HM PR is 1:39:56 and my 5K is 21:57. Of course, I ran that 5K in March when it was nice and cold out. My…

Rest day. Did some yoga this morning and will take the dog for a long walk after work.

Very true. I have been running for 20+ years. I have had to seek professional advice regarding running related injuries twice during that time, but I can't remember the last time I did not have something nagging me. I am currently dealing with hamstring tendinitis. This is one of the injuries I saw a physical therapist for…

This looks amazing. I love chanterelles and the bok choy salad is a wonderful idea.

I am not sure if you would consider this low calorie, but I am gluten free so this is my go to for a quick and easy morning breakfast: Smash up an extra ripe banana and mix with one egg and a half scoop of vanilla whey protein powder (the protein powder is optional, but it does add some sweetness so I would add a bit of…

Yesterday was my husband's b-day. I made Caprese bruchetta, wild mushroom risotto, and grilled beef tenderloin. We had flourless chocolate cake for dessert. Tonight I am making crab cakes with sauteed summer vegetables and herbs.
