Just wanted to comment on this because I definitely agree. Whenever I run at tempo pace or faster or even doing speed intervals on the track, I always find that my recovery pace is much faster than it should be, even though it doesn't feel like it based on effort. A running buddy of mine said he is the same way. I think it…

Thanks everyone for taking the time to answer. It's an interesting discussion for me. I chose to follow a version of the 80/20 plan because it got me a PR in the past, but I was in a different boat then. I was less experienced at running the marathon distance (has a less solid foundation) but I was also more "durable". I…

Had a 30 minute session with my trainer this morning. Fridays are my easy day so nothing too strenuous, mountain climbers, wall sits, tricep dips, seated rows and leg extensions. She also stretched my legs out for a few minutes. Afterwards I took my dog for a 25 minute walk. So glad to have her home! Hoping to do some more…

I haven't checked in for a few days because we were on a mini vacation visiting my BIL in North Carolina. On Saturday I did a 20 mile long run before heading out of town. Sunday was 5 trail miles and then kayaking. Monday was 3.5 trail miles and then a hike up to the top of "Hanging Rock". Tuesday was 7.5 miles with 5 of…

I love # 1. It is so true. Sometimes just a 5 minute conversation with a stranger is all it takes to turn your mood around. For example, yesterday as I was getting ready to leave work, a delivery man arrived (after hours) with a package and I was the only one there to receive it. He had caught me on my way to my car and I…

Today is a rest day and I am going to enjoy every bit of it. I did a 30 minute dog walk this morning. I plan to walk some more at lunch and this evening and do a bit of yoga and foam rolling. Tomorrow I need to be out the door at 5AM to get a 20 mile run in before we head out of town.

30 minute dog walk this morning. This evening will be a 60 minute run with 36 minutes at tempo (7:30-8 min/mile) pace. Weather is terrific today so I am really looking forward to it. FWIW, I am training for Chicago marathon in October, which is why my workouts are so run focused at the moment. Looking forward to doing more…

Wow! Do you just workout all day long???

Yesterday I had a 65 minute run with 12 X 1.5 minute speed intervals on the schedule. It rained all day, my back was aching and I was finding it very hard to muster up the motivation to do this workout. So I told myself that I would set my Garmin up with the intervals, but only push the pace slightly on the intervals. It…

Cobb Salad. Lettuce, grape tomatoes, bacon, avocado, hard boiled eggs, grilled chicken and blue cheese for me, jack cheese for hubby. I use Litehouse Opa Greek yogurt ranch dressing for this one.

Deleted my post. I hope you are able to get your feeling sorted out OP. You deserve to be happy.

I use EVOO, red wine or rice wine vinegar, a bit of honey, dijon mustard, clove of minced garlic and salt and pepper.

Just be aware that you have to dissolve it in cold water before adding it to hot coffee. It will clump up if you add it to a hot liquid. I make an iced coffee with mine.

Thanks! I will have to try them. If I have one complaint about the Bushidos, it's that they are a bit more rigid than I would like.

A favorite fall meal of mine is to put pork loin or chops seasoned with salt and pepper in the crock pot with sliced apples and sliced onion and a sprig of thyme. Especially delicious with mashed potatoes and greens.

I agree with all that has been said. Also keep in mind that as you gain weight, running will be more difficult, as it takes more effort to move more mass. Couple that with the fact that you will be progressively adding mileage which will already stress your body to the point of fatigue, and you are likely to have a rough…

Two sites that I like to use are skinnytaste.com and budgetbytes.com. Both ladies make pretty healthy meals that are usually easy. Last night I made these Philly cheesesteak stuffed portabello mushroom caps (https://www.skinnytaste.com/philly-cheesesteak-stuffed-portobello-mushrooms/) which my husband loves. To save time,…

I have La Sportiva Bushidos. They have fantastic grip. Love them.

Drink lots of water and, even though it hurts, try to move as much as possible. Take short walks and do some dynamic stretching. That will help with the soreness. And, I agree, do not work these muscles hard until they are no longer sore, and then, take it a little easier. Some soreness is to be expected after a hard…

Here are a few of my recent meals: Thai red curry with tofu and vegetables over Basmati rice Sweet potato hash with roast turkey breast topped with fried eggs Grilled shrimp and chicken bowls with black beans, vegetables, salsa and avocado Grilled salmon, beet and…

It takes time. Wisely, you gave yourself plenty of it. Your progress will come quickly, especially since you are not entirely new to running.

Treadmill Road bike and bike trainer Dumbbells from 3-25 lbs Door mounted pull up bar Resistance bands Yoga mats and blocks Stability balls Kayaks (if you count that as home gym equipment, but then I could probably start adding things like tennis racket, skis, horse shoes, etc, etc)

If I could find one that tastes anything like the picture on the package leads me to believe, then I would eat them. The problem is that they always leave me feeling disappointed with both the quality and the quantity, so experience has taught me to just avoid them. If I found them satisfying then I would have no problem…
