  • I'm doing this in August - they have a duathlon at the Go Girl. 2 mile run, 5 mile ride, 3 mile run. Yay for not swimming! Lol!
  • Beans Rice Eggs Frozen veggies Frozen chicken Buy meat on sale and freeze it Bananas Apples Tortillas Bread Pasta Shop at Aldi's - great discounts and deals there. They regularly have strawberries for 99 cents a carton. The trick is to only buy what you're going to eat right away, since their produce is closer to…

  • Traditionally, on a farm, the wife helps the husband do at least some of the work. Small family farms require that everyone work to keep them running. I know a lot of farm wives that can haul feed sacks and hay bales like it's nothing.
  • Love this thread! The other day, I was carrying a tote of camping supplies to the car and my brother-in-law insisted upon taking it from me. I let him, because he was trying to be nice, but not because I needed him to. It's awesome to be able to handle your own business, lift your own groceries, kids, pets, furniture, etc…
  • Google "Strong Lifts 5x5" - you can get the free program from the official website. It's a 3 day/week workout. When I was doing it, it took me anywhere from 30-45 minutes to do the workout. It takes longer the heavier your weights get, as you need increased rest periods between sets.

  • So, he's forced into your non-normal mindset about food just because you are unwilling to address a personal problem you have with your eating habits? Seems legit.
  • Also this. You can't get upset because he eats what he wants. And you can still be lean and fit and eat some junk food occasionally. But, it's on YOU to control it and learn to deal with it. You can't expect the world to cater to your preferences.
  • and to the bolded part.....you never believe us when we tell you anything, so why start now?
  • Well, first I wear workout clothes. Capris, a tank, running shoes. I pound out some miles. Endorphins always raise my mood and make me feel better. Then, I wear something comfortable and cute. Killer heels and some awesome jewelry and I'm ready to go.
  • But if the goal is to be "normal" and normal people eat in moderation, shouldn't we be practicing? I'm not saying I'm always perfect. There are days when I eat too much. But, it's gotten better the more I've worked at it. And I'm to the point where I can say "No Thanks" to anything that I don't really want or to a second…
  • As you lose weight, you will lose fat from your thighs. Our bodies are genetically predisposed to retain fat in certain areas. Sounds like you just carry a lot of yours in your legs. The only thing you can do is keep losing weight and/or reducing your body fat percentage until you reach a physique you are satisfied with. I…
  • If it's so hard to stay on the wagon, what's the point of being so restrictive? Why not just do "everything in moderation"?
  • Man up and ask them if you can work in. And if they give you sass, put them in their place. Teenagers are all bravado - as soon as you call them on it, they back off big time. But honestly, most of them are usually polite and pleasant.
  • Also, people who are interested in you (you know...if they like, like you) don't base their choice on whether or not your thighs touch. And if that is their criteria on who to date, then you need to raise your standards a little. Thigh gaps don't ultimately matter and it's pointless to pursue something you may not be able…

  • Log your food every day. You're not doing that. You need to log every single bite you take. Eat all of your calories, and your exercise calories. Trust me on this - you don't want to screw up your metabolism (you are way too young to have to deal with that for the rest of your life). Wholesome foods are generally…
  • The snacking thing is normal for kids - especially for growing boys. Cut him some slack in that area. As far as everything else, you set the rules. He eats what is served, and if he doesn't, he doesn't get snacks later. You can also set a rule that he gets only 1 "treat" food per day and has to eat plenty of other healthy…
  • This. Honestly, I just work through it when I do get it (which isn't very often anymore). Maybe some Advil or Tylenol if it's particularly bad. Plenty of water to drink and plenty of protein to eat.
  • If you are opposed to lifting, the answer above is a good one. You Are Your Own Gym is an excellent resource for body weight training. As was mentioned, to continue to see benefit, you have to have a progressive loading program. YAYOG does that without barbells or dumbbells. Just adding more squats and crunches will only…
  • Can you take a cooler or thermal tote? If so, string cheese, yogurt and fruit would be good choices. Laughing cow cheese wedges and crackers too. Hummus and veggies to dip are delicious. With no cooler, you could still take bananas, crackers and peanut butter, apples, pretzels, nuts, and jerky are all good choices.
  • Yes, it's right next to the box that says "DYEL?"
  • QFT. Work on and worry about your self. Be healthy so I don't have to spend as much paying for your healthcare. Everyone wins.
  • Actually, what he's saying is probably close to spot on. Your problem with not being "hungry" is a mental one. You've convinced yourself that you shouldn't eat much. Your body would probably love more food, but your mind won't let it. If you are forcing yourself to eat, it's not because the rest of your organs are saying…
  • Distance. I've found that my speed will naturally increase as my base/experience increases anyway.
  • Exercise should be fun and people should do the things they enjoy. I can definitely get behind that. That said, if you are specifically training for something or trying to achieve a certain look, you will need to do the exercises and regimines that will help you get there. I'm going to sign up for a half marathon. I know…
  • It sounds to me like they just want him to be with someone who shares his interests. But whether or not he wants that is his choice. You're 18. Don't stress too much about it.
  • The author of that article is only addressing the binging cycle, not portion control. She is looking at severe restriction vs. uncontrollable binging, which is not what MFP advocates. The idea here is that you eat at a moderate calorie deficit, enjoy whatever foods you want (so there is no "falling off the wagon" so to…
  • Running shoes are the one area of weight loss/fitness where we are actually all different. Go to a running specialty store and get fitted for shoes. You need the right shoes for your feet......not the shoes some stranger on the internet tells you are good.
