  • "Halfway along the road we have to go, I found myself obscured in a great forest, bewildered, and I knew I had lost the way." Not my favorite book, but it's hard to beat the beginning of Inferno for opening lines...
  • :P That is, generally, how I go about it. To clarify, I'm not running at full effort here - but I am still getting side stitches. In fact, I find myself getting them at a conversational pace. Perhaps you just have a better natural instinct for it than I do... I could just google it, yes. But, I would have to wade through…
  • I love podrunner's podcasts (free on iTunes)! It's all tempo-based dance music, and being unfamiliar with the exact music helps me concentrate on the rhythm and not measuring out "how long is this song, and how much closer to the end of my workout does that put me?" :)
  • :) I grew up in 'Cuse. (Tipp Hill, went to Fowler) Feel free to add, if you'd like!
  • I've had any number of game meats over time, and I really like many of them. For rabbit, I make it braised in red wine. I would say that the key to "exotic" meats is to know their provenance and source them locally, if you can. I know that sounds like a contradiction, but a lot of farms are trying their hand at unusual…
  • Very important to keep your heads in the crisper. No one likes a soggy face.
  • Parmesan swai, roast Brussels sprouts, and a ginger and rye. :)
  • Love this thread! As for my freezer, I keep a crazy list, but I definitely need to go shopping:
  • Jillian Michaels 30 day shred is available on YouTube - nothing but a mat and weights required, and around thirty minutes. I also like Ellen Barrett - you'll find some of her workouts on YouTube also. There are a ton of other workout routines free on the Internet - try searching the forums, and I bet you'll find lots of…
  • Not fitness related at all, but I want to make an effort to talk to the people I love more. I'm not geographically close to many of my family and friends, and I'm the worst communicator on the planet. They love me anyway, and I just want to be a little more explicit in showing them I feel the same. I never want to regret…
  • Hi Shannon - love having friends who motivate! Adding you!
  • I had this experience earlier this year. Within a space of a week, two people complimented me on my weight loss, and one of the sweetest women I have ever met told me, "Sweetie, you should eat a burger or something, you've lost too much weight." Coming from who it did, I knew it was not jealousy, but sincere concern. It…
  • Maybe my taste in workout wear is lowbrow, but I'm pretty happy with Old Navy's active brand. They are mostly cotton, so maybe not as breathable as some hi tech fabric, but they don't ride up (no wedgies or camel toe) and the price is right. :)
  • Whoa, love the early morning folks. I usually go around 5 am. I have to be at work by 7, and especially in the winter, if I want to see the sun at all - an hour after work is my only chance. I find too many excuses not to work out at the end of the day. Ditto on the singing! I like to rock out to particularly good tunes…
  • Learning to run, building up time is always hard - I think it hurts for the average person. It took me years of on and off attempts to get past that. I can't imagine what it would be like with asthma on top of it!! Congrats on the success!
  • I agree with the above poster that what you are seeing as a weight loss plateau may just be a happy weight for you. However, I would seriously take your calories into consideration. When your body is not getting enough calories, it slows your metabolism down, so even though it sounds counter-intuitive, less calories can…
  • Goodbye L1. 20 more days, folks!

  • The important part is that you are honest with yourself! You can totally do this, and we've all still got your back! :)
  • Goodbye L1D9! So ready for the final day of L1 - watching L2 while I fold some laundry to get a preview. Can't wait!
  • Great job, lady! And I totally LOVE your down to earth approach - you worked hard, and still enjoyed life - and damn! Look at you now! :D
  • Definitely struggling with the mental portion of this commitment, even while I feel the physical part is getting easier. Still, got it done! Nice work everyone!

  • I wish I could do this, but JM doesn't give pacing clues with enough regularity or frequency for me to keep up! I wind up going either way too slow or too fast and I don't have a full mirror either, so I'm sacrificing form or not working hard enough. Boo. On the topic, I never noticed Natalie's lazy ways until I saw this,…
  • Slept in today, and totally missed my normal exercise time - proud of myself for not making excuses and finishing l1d3 right after I got home from work, when all I want to do is curl up on the couch. Awesome job everyone, we got this!
  • I decided, once I got past the soreness of the first couple of days, I would try and get some running in as well. Felt okay today, so I ran two ten minute miles - which is less than I would do regularly, but I was sweating buckets! Playing it by ear now, so I guess we'll see how it goes.
  • My pushups are pretty wimpy too. Is anyone NOT doing girlie ones? If you weren't just born with awesome upper body strength, how did you get there? How long did it take?
  • Ditto! It was definitely an uphill battle getting out of bed this morning and I completely agree about those effin' side lunges. I felt really good when I got to that last ab circuit though! I feel like most people in this group were probably asleep, but I was thinking of all of you when I dragged myself out of bed at 5 -…
  • I did my L1D1 first this this morning, and man, I felt it in my shoulders all day. I hate that I'm doing wussy push ups, but hopefully I will seriously improve on that in the next 30 days! Great job, everyone. :)
  • Hi all! I'm A.J. - I'm 26 years old. I totally didn't plan to start 30DS on the first of the month, it just worked out that way and then I found this group! Kismet! Really excited to have the support of all of you to help motivate me. I don't have a GW per se, just a fierce desire for some awesome abs. Please feel free to…
