Definitely get a pedometer. My colleague wears one just at work and says we take a minimum of 10,000 steps in one shift. So I cant wait till mines arrives in the post as I have a 30 minute walk there and 30 minute walk home to add on. Im so excited for it to arrive its actually sad. ^^

I lost quite a lot in week one. Probably 5-6lbs. Then got stuck on 8 stone for 10 days. It was horrific and I was obsessed with the scales. I Then dropped 1lb..then gained...then dropped 2... You get the idea. I'm still at a deficit, still exercising. but I can tell you 4 weeks into calorie counting and my trend IS going…

I went through this phase last year, for most of the year in fact. When I wasn't at work I was napping. Constantly. When I WAS at work lifting anything, even duvets, caused my arms to ache until Id crumple up on the floor and cry by the time I was in my third room. ( Im a maid ) I had blood tests done and was told I was…

I have suffered from anorexic habits in the past and know that reading things on here have helped me more than ever to realise what people have been telling me for years. You can eat and lose! Infact I am losing faster this time and still fitting in cakes and my favourite meals. If this girl has been on the path to…

Just eat in moderation. Try to have smaller portions and maybe squeeze in some walking if you can. I'm sure the food is amazing and you dont want to offend anyone by not eating it, nor would you want to NOT eat it! Life happens. Since I started I have had a few lunches and nights out ( which I rarely do ) and I've…

Excellent post! Something that I always find is saddening is how a big loss in weight can result in people looking older! Even some women who are currently in their 20s and 30s can drop weight too quickly and end up looking 10 years older. Josie Gibson is an example. I'd like a few good years with my ideal body before I…

Thank you everyone for your answers. After working out my averages, I have found that my TDEE averages at 2000. So I'll cut 400 and go to 1600. Until I am 100% sure I will wait for my pedometer and body percentages scale to arrive. But I WILL be eating above 1200 and under 1600 until then. Thanks again!

I really wish I'd read this paragraph when I was 19. This has summed the whole idea off wonderfully. Thank you.

You look WONDERFUL. Well done!! :drinker:

This is a great idea. I tend to take Women's health multi vitamins from Morrisons. They have lots of great hormone production and metabolism boosters.

Friendly! Was very courteous of you to block out your friends faces when using a photo on line. Lovely chap.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. Thank you for sharing your story as I know there are many people on here ( me for example ) who have also tried or are trying the methods you had used in the past. Stay strong, and thank you. x

When I'm hungry I tend to have a cup of tea or coffee. It really helps. Also I bought a " For Goodness Shakes " - strawberry 2 days ago. I think I'll be buying another tomorrow as I didn't feel like eating for hours after!

I'm certain this comment has most likely been addressed several times by now BUT: If you get it " over and done with " - within a few weeks, your damaging your body and the chances of you gaining it all back as soon as you go eat normally are pretty much certain. With a few extra lbs for good measure! I've lost a stone in…

I unofficially started MFP in June ( I never logged ) and I hit 8 stone last Thursday. So it was about 4 weeks and 7lbs loss straight away. I haven't moved from 8 stone on the scale since the 11th July. But I now fit into the jeans I couldn't get past my thighs on that very day! So remember the scales aren't 100% reliable.…

Aaaaaaaaand....that takes me to 1700. Thank you all. Very much.

I chose: Moderate. Exercise 3-5 days a week. That gave me 1995. So I wont be eating back exercise calories, that really helps answer another question!
-
Thanks deksgrl, Benchpressing and BrainyBurro. My TDEE is 1995. 20 % of that is almost 400 calories. So I now know I can eat 1600 calories and even eat back calories burned if I want to. ( Is a must that I always eat them back?.. I'll need to find that out for myself I guess. Everyone is different from what I can see. ) So…

Thanks for the reply! I cant see how my height, weight and such can be the wrong information. The only other question was my lifestyle and it IS active. I have a physical job and walk 60 mins a day. I'll have a look in at your other post.

Well can I ask something as a serious question: Why does MFP set it 1200 for most people? I'm having a really hard time figuring out what I should actually be eating. Ive been told to check my RMR, BMR, and make an equation of sorts. But I am having so much difficulty with this. So I've just stuck to 1200 so far and have…

I have tried change my stats but it will always tell me 1200. It will say 1200 when I: Change to Sedentary Change to Active Update my new weight Change my Goals Change my time scale ( 1lb, 2lb, etc ) And it always...always...always churns out 1200. That would be fine foodwise but as I drink a LOT of juice to stay hydrated…

Me! Im more likely to eat low fat oven chips and weight watchers milk digestives, but I am NOT cutting out sweets and fizzy juices. Its just not something I could live with for more than a few months at most. Keeping the things I like but adjusting the portions is working for me.
-
But what if you really...REALLY dislike water? lol I tried the water thing in 2011. I drank it every day for 2 weeks and eventually admitted defeat. It made my stomach cold, sore, swishy, and left me feeling more hungry! Actually, theres always flavoured water... I believe I have just answered my own question. Numpty.…

Well, yes. ( Edit: Tried to post an image but computer said no )

I was always partial to Zantrex-3. When I starved at age 19, Zantrex 3 gave me plenty of energy to live off of just the pills and coffee. I lost 2 stone in a couple of months, no lie. Came off it, put it all back on and more. I repeated this ( whilst eating ) at least 5 times as recently as last october. Put it all back on…

As someone else has said, maybe you should try adjusting your calorie intake and eat back some of those calories you've been burning off. Some people stall and find it's because they are eating too little. Good luck and well done!
-
Haha I've been known to latch on to things I've read, also. Mostly regarding how FEW calories I should eat. I rarely allow myself as much as I should when I "diet" . I think the best place for your husband are these here forums! x

I've read on here that as women store water the week before, during, and AFTER a period, sometimes the most accurate readings are only within 2 weeks of the month. Of course thats personal to that poster, but remember we store water for a variety of different reasons. Try to hit the scales on a particular day of the week,…

Excellent attitude. And as I have just discovered I have been giving myself waaaay too many exercise calories and just rearranged my excise and have discovered I've went a couple of hundred calories over some days, I've now calmed the hell down and am ready to start again tomorrow. 2 weeks and I've still lost weight. Not…

Your all right, I'm mixing up my numbers. I used this calculator which gives me a BMR of 1294.95: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ And my calories burned from normal daily activity according to MFP are: From Normal Daily Activity 1,650 cal/day So I'll have a deficit of 450 calories and a projected weight loss…
